Armin Or Tiesto

After posting in the other thread, titled "tiesto worst remixer 2002" i have descovered that some people clearly cannot tell the difference between trance and ....how shall i put this... SHIT!
Someone is trying to tell me that tiesto has done better work recenlty then armin now lets look at the facts here:

here are some examples of the last say 6months of Armins tracks + remixes + they all beat every single one of tiesto's , as shown below:

ARMIN:
armin van buuren feat. ray wilson - yet another day
shane - too late to turn (armin van buurens rising star mix)
riva - time is the healer (armin van buuren mix)
solid sessions - janeiro (armin van buuren mix)
armin - sunburn (original mix)
Solarstone - Seven Cities (Armin Van Buuren Remix)

WOW!!

TIESTO:
Saint Etienne (tiesto rmx)
Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (DJ Tiesto Rmx)
Kosheen - Hungry (Tieso Rmx)
Lost Witness - Did I Dream (tiesto rmx)
Avalon - Can't Live a Day
Svenson & Gielen - We Know What You Did (tiesto rmx)

some arn't that bad e.g. southern sun, but most are lame especially hungry+saint etienne so what do you think?

I'm not here to say tiesto is terrible, i am just here to say that armin is better and is the man of the moment!

dont post shit and then when you get a bad response. change what you wrote and lie about it.... thats exactly the bullshit i was taking about....

END OF EDIT

oh god another lame thread bashing tiesto.....

with the exception of avalon... all those tiesto remixes are mint...

and if you really want to compare tiesto to armin... lets look at original work...

lets see the whole in my memory album was dope... has armin really put out ORIGINAL that has been exception since Blue Fear.... hmmm

ill give you that armin is better in djing skills, but his producing skills are rather weak... and most of his remixes seem to bite off of someone elses remix or style...

...also, lets not forget that armin prolly wouldn't be around if Tiesto's label, Blackhole hadn't released his first album Boundaries of Imagination....

please... can we stop the excessive flamming of TOP DJs here... I thought tat most people came here to celebrate music not attempt to destroy it... all the bashing i see of tiesto is annoying...

blah

Ok maybe i am being a little to harsh, and i don't want 2 put the man down, he has brought trance (well helped) bring it 2 what it is 2day. I am just saying that i think armin is better more uplifting more powerful and he can use vocals better (properly) i just think tiesto like some other DJs is just living in his old name, he was good and so ppl belive he still is when really his current work is not so great.

Posted by Fandom on Jul-26-2002 21:18:

hmm..i'm not gonna bash tiesto,he's really good at what he does but i prefer Armin..he's so inspiring!

How is this a bashing thread if he specifically said saying that tiestos not terrible, and he just thinks that armin is better right now?

Posted by DJ Libor on Jul-26-2002 21:24:

Why thankyou, atleast some people can read, and take in what they are reading at the same time, i didn't know it was such a hard skill lol

You guys clearly has no idea what you are comparing. Armin looks up to Tiesto since they began work few years back. Both men have an idea of what the future holds for electronic music and both have contributed a lot to the trance scene worldwide....of course some junk like Blue Fear or The Tube for that matter....

Stop bitching about who is better and what-not as this is getting very challenging for some retards out here....

Before you go on and diss Tiesto, acting like a converted blah blah blah...put on or play BT feat Jan Johnston - Flesh (DJ Tiesto Remix).....after which you play Riva - Time is the healer (Armin Van Buuren Remix).....do they even sound alike?

How would you program a trance set if you were to play for a live crowd? Do we need variations? Duh?

Here we have a perfect example of variation in trance. Embrace what you hear and take it as a beautiful experience instead of shoving what you hear back up your arse and for that matter, being an asshole.

Tiesto's productions have been at least 99.9% top-notch while Armin followed up closely with how Tiesto and Ferry Corsten produces...

It take passion to produce a well-engineered track or remix, not just some formulae to go by. erm hemm..ATB, Darude?

In what direction Tiesto plans to take his music, I do not know. But ISOS 3 isn't as bad as what people have been dissing about.

As for Armin, he's certainly holding the spotlight....everyone deserves a fair share of glory and fame, don't you think? well-deserved like Tiesto experienced for these few years in a row....

It's not how high you go, it's how high you can stay on top that matter...

I rest my case.

Here's a treat for you:

Posted by whiskers on Jul-26-2002 21:53:

currently i prefer listening to Armin for his ASOT episodes and simply because i don't have any recent tiesto sets

but still, tiesto is a bigger legend in my books than Armin

and why do we always have to choose, either this or that, white or black... why can't we have both armin and tiesto, eh?

hahaha, you posted that while i was writing my previous response. i think your post should be the end of discussion in this thread, because it's pointless to continue the BLAH BLAH BLEH after what you've said! w3rd!

Posted by Dave_Masters on Jul-26-2002 22:34:

A year Ago i would have said tiesto with out a doubt, his past productions have been out of this world. Sadly Armin has now taken his place this year and IMO armin is the main producer/dj keeping REAL trance alive.

So as for the title of this thread

ARMIN.

wtf?? lol.. armin's sets lately have been trainwreck after trainwreck..ive never heard tiesto mess up that badly

Posted by Nell on Jul-26-2002 23:19:

yeah, and armin has to go moochin tunes of tiesto.. *cough* sunburn = 643 *cough*

a few reminders about tiesto..

1)Urban Train (biggest choon of 2001..?)
643
Lethal Ind
In My Memory (greatest solo album?)

2)Southern Sun (best remix of 2002?)
Flesh (best remix of 2001?)
Silence (best remix of 2000?)

3)magik 6 (best compilation of 2000?)

4)he won the silver harp.. and countless other awards for outstanding contribution to music....

5)setup and owns his own label (which got so big he just controls one section now) (dont say armin does to, cos armind is just a branch off of united)

6)GOURYELLA (Goureyella , Wallhalla, Tenshi)

7)Kamaya Painters (Endless Wave, Far From Over, Northern Spirit etc)

8)6th best DJ in world. largest fan base out of all the DJ's in the world

9)great DJ..

10) theres more to come.

See what I dont understand is why people always mention the past in threads like these. There was one the other day about tiesto being the worst remixer of 02 and people would keep saying stuff like listen to such and such from 2 years ago. I think that its perfectly fine to say someones not ontop of there game and it not be a diss, as long as they respect them for what they did before.

Armin VS Tiesto in 2002... hmmm.. Armin did a great job with Shane - Too Late To Turn, his Solid Sessions mix also was nice.... tiesto only had Southern Sun.... so I guess Armin VS Tiesto: 2-1...

Let's see: Armin VS DuMonde:

DuMonde did: E.L.T. - Rescue Me (remix of the year), Ayumi (late 2001) - Trauma (remix of the century), DJ Snowman - And Then They Start To Dance (great remix), Vincent Stormfield - Sweet Harmony (great remix too).... so I guess Armin VS DuMonde so far: 2-4...

What did Rank 1 BTW do this year????????????

Armin VS Rank 1 : 4-0 or so?????

errrr. tiesto has doen more than southern sun... i suggest you do a little more research. hes done about 10 remixes this year already, adn dont forget he's come straight off of his solo tour and straight on to his tour with moby.

Posted by Cobalt on Jul-27-2002 00:42:

Don't get me wrong, Armin is a great producer. But he can't nearly match the legacy of Tisto. And DJ-wise there's simply no comparison; the younger icon needs far more practice. I don't understand all the hype lately over AvB, particularly over his but mediocre liveset skills.

Posted by sherman on Jul-27-2002 02:00:

dont get me wrond tiesto is a legend but im just not into what hes playing right now with all the progressive, he still had some great remixes like the southern sun remix, i just dont know why he plays progressive when he did so well with trance

Posted by DJ Libor on Jul-27-2002 02:08:

Why is it some of you fail to realise we are living in the year 2002 not 2000,99 or any other fucking tiesto year. I am talking about Armin Vs Tiesto NOW i don't care what tiesto did do, if any of u can read u will read in an earlyer post, yes i understand he has done alot in the past but has nothing 2 offer now and is living in his old name, ppl like him 4 wht he did not what he is doing now.
Armin is another matter, His remixes are the best around along with his tracks.
Bottom line is at the moment Tiesto doesn't come close
Don't get me started on mixing they both have there bad days but then so does everyone look at tiesto NEC its one of the worst sets i ve ever herd for mixing standards. If its mixing u want Listen to Ferry he will show u all how its done

Posted by whiskers on Jul-27-2002 02:27:

Idea all right, you wanna play?

Ferry sucks. I haven't heard anything about his work this year, it's like he's dead in the water.

Tiesto sucks for his poor-ass work of 2002. let's kill him and forget him.

Armin is just a Tiesto wannabe who's not even very good at it. pfft!

PVD? tell me something new about this guy. who do you say he is, i forgot?

and, finally, Oakenfold. that traitor, with all his nonsense non-trance bunkka shit, let's kill him too

you've gotta face it, people, trance is DEAD

and that's not all i have to say.

now let's see the responses

tiesto till i die!

Posted by NiteKiD on Jul-27-2002 07:46:

yo does it really fucking matter who is BETTER? both are top dj's and producers and deserve props for all the accomplishments they have achieved. these guys are gods when it comes to the music you love so lets just appreciate them for their contributions to the music and stop trying to undermine one or the other with talks of who is BETTER rite now.

word

Posted by Parafox on Jul-27-2002 10:35:

I think both are great artists, but in my opinion, Tiesto is the better producer and armin has got feeling for a perfect mix (ASoT for example) Tiesto has got also great sets but they are a little bit similar...

Exactly.

Different is the word here.

NOT better or worse.

DIFFERENT
