Also Minecraft is a pretty neat game, well worth the investment.

This game can go far but I wont touch it untill there are massive multiplayer servers. If that happens it could be epic..

Survival Multiplayer is being worked on now.

X's videos are the best. Definitely contributed to the explosion of Minecraft interest.

Just dig out a cave, thats what I did at the start. To keep yourself busy at night just mine back in your cave too.

Remember that when you can dig straight down as well and not worry about getting stuck. Just select the rocks you collected while digging, look down and jump while right clicking to place them! I tend to use dirt though instead of rocks to go back up, cause if I want to go back down again, dirt is easier to break apart.

I dont think the game would be as good if the graphics were more complex. It really suites how it plays.

I am thinking about starting a new map though... The one I am playing on now is fucking snowing, and I do not know if it will ever stop. All the water is frozen...

is there like a demo or something to try it for free?

I needed that trick last night heheh
I was just running around outside trying to stay alive. Gonna try to jump on someones server tonight and see how that is.

Yea I was at least a couple of minutes away from water

I just built an awesome hover house waaay up in the sky... with a nice wood roof, stone walls... and a big path leading up the mountain to a bridge out to it... all nicely lit.

I am planting trees on the hillside, its pretty barren. I also need to work my way down to one of the beaches and see if there is any sand so I can make some glass for the windows. Its fucking non-stop snowing!

Every time I build a nice home I wind up dying and never finding it again ...

Posted by Dj Nacht on Sep-22-2010 22:32:

Leaving work in a few minutes, gonna go home and play. Been watching videos all day at work so I should be ready.

No point in going online since its still not even fully functional yet.

Yes

funny story i read about it on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comm...he_most/c106atq

c0r version - the guy builds secret nazi tunnels laden with swastikas, finally the rest of the server finds them but no one knows who did it.

haven't tried it myself yet, but looks like the kind of game i'd spend hours on as a kid.

while on the topic of newer games with shitty graphics that have more complex gameplay (a trend i support), anyone tried dwarf fortress? i dumped a few hours into it but couldn't catch on to it, as soon as i learned 1 thing something would come in i didn't know how to react to and kill all my dwarves. will have to try again some time and actually follow a tutorial

Can anyone recommend an online server?

Dwarf Fortress is amazing, especially when you play a continuation game. You set the length of a turn, let's say one year, then you tell the story of your turn while posting pictures, trying to make it as epic as possible.
Then your save gets passed on to the next person and they do the same thing. Then rinse and repeat.
