The Official 2010 - 2011 NHL Season Thread.
Tonight bitches.
Only 3 of us post in here, but might as well make the thread anyway.
"Iiiiiiii've beeeeeeeeen waaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiitiiiiiiing, fooooooor a gaaaaaaammmmmme liiiiiiike youuuuuuuuuu toooooo coooooome intooooooooo myyyyyyyy liiiiiiiiiiife."
Real sports starting again is awesome...fuck you baseboringball.
The time is now. If we don't make a serious go of it this year, we never will.
Looks like Jordan Eberle will be a stud.
Poor Pavelec. That was nuts.
pretty scary stuff indeed.
Anyone that has seen Eberle play in the World Junior Championships, knows what kind of a stud this guy is going to be. The Oilers aren't going to win anything this year, but they will consistently be one of the most entertaining teams to watch this year I think. The situation in Edmonton is almost like Chicago's a few years back in regards to a whole whack of very skilled youth on the team.
If the Oil can keep all of these players together...in 2 or 3 years they might be able to be serious contenders again.
what a fucking goal.

ok in the right thread now
He is looking really good so far this year, which is good because Halak played a beast of a game last night as well. The press and fans can't get on a player if he plays like this. Habs didn't deserve it last night, but Price stole 2. The save against Crosby in the 3rd to keep the Habs in it was unreal. Even Crosby thought it went in.
The playoffs last year really created a nice rivalry between both teams. The building and the players were nice and riled up.

stepan looking good so far trancypantz.
BAM! Tough actin tinactin.
buddy got whomped.
if butch goring is doing the islanders games from now on, i might have to catch some of those games.
the isles aren't going to do shit this year, but they have a few young guys worth watching.
WOOOO HOCKEY!!!!
Jay, Price isn't looking too shabby 2 games into the season, I'm very surprised... Could it be that taking away the risk of being sat for half the season got him fired up a bit?
I'm happy with Giggy too so far, it's a great feeling to have the puck lofted on the Leafs net and not expect it to float right by a sprawling, useless goalie. Thank God!
I got Leafers in 6th in the East, wishful thinking I'm sure, but when I turn out to be right, I'ma bitch-slap every Habs fan at my work with a 7 inch, blue and white dildo across the face. POW!
lol..just wait until you start playing the premier teams.
The Leafs have nowhere to go but up...that being said to go from second worst in the nhl to the playoffs in one season is almost unheard of. I don't think everyone can be confident about predictions 2 games into the season, when we hit game 25 we shall see.
I still think that the leafs are on the outside looking in this year, but the rebuild is going better than in the past. Don't take it personally, my habs could very well be in the same position.
Leafs are an injury away from a long losing streak. To make the dance they need to stay healthy, and that doesn't always happen...especially since you guys have a lot of "goons". Goons don't deter players from taking runs at stars players anymore. If anything the 2 minute instigation penalty given for coming to a team mates defense encourages teams to go after guys to sucker the other team into bad penalties. If Kessel gets a booboo you guys are going to be fucked.
So far you guys barely beat a habs squad missing 3 of their top players, and a Ottawa team that is going to be one of the worst sens teams in quite a while. The sens are in that weird place right now...they have aging superstars, a few good players here and there, and goal tending that is even more unproven than Montreal's.
I actually hope that the leafs can squeak in, this way i can listen to leafs optimism with a straight face, and i would rather see a hockey market make it in than a useless US market that no one gives a shit about(like tampa..it is too bad too because tampa is going to be pretty damn good). Last year it was finishing the preseason with an almost perfect record that had leafs nation thinking big (we all know how that turned out) , now it is a 2-0 start.
good luck either way_man...I can't wait until the leafs play the habs one day in the playoffs. It might not happen again in our lifetime
As far as price goes...we have to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think it certainly doesn't hurt that we started the season on the road. He proved that he can play with confidence and not give up bad goals when we fall behind (one of his big problems in the past....carey is a great goalie when he has the lead, he used to get lost when he didn't have it). At 23 years of age, he is still very very very young to be a starting goalie in the nhl, it doesn't help that he is playing the position in the hardest market to do so. Hopefully the failures of last year lit a fire under his ass...it most certainly did i think, because he showed up to training camp in the best shape of his young career.
The key to carey having a good year all depends on the team playing in front of him. If you look at halak's numbers last year compared to his, they were very close to each other in every way except the wins and losses. Carey didn't play as bad as everyone said he did last year, most of the time he simply did not have any goal support from his offense. You can be the best pitcher in MLB (i'm not calling carey the best just an example)...but if no one scored runs for you, you can have an era of 1.00 and still lose every game.
I really can't wait for markov to be back...markov and PK oh the pp might be one of the best offensive d pairings in the league.
pay attention to the isles d man.
lol

avery's reaction is priceless.
he looks to the ref like wtf.
what a dirty hit from behind.
big loss for buffalo, good for me, but no one really likes to see cheap play like this. You can count on a 5 game suspension at the least i think,

much better watching him hit
colton orr sucks.
nice little top ten hits vid of one of my favourite defensemen of all time..
rangers had some guy from kiss sing for their home opener and he sucked total fucking ass. they cut that shit off not even midway through. HAHAHAHAA
vid?
i just watched the buffalo home ceremony for their 40th anniversary (it wasn't even their first home game)...and it was beyond sad and pathetic.
man hockey is one sport that does not need ceremonies....just dirty hits.
can you imagine having to live in buffalo
