Coldharbour style Trance

Anyone else into this stuff? Buzzing basslines and stupid twinkly melodies simply get me every time. Sadly this stuff isn't made anymore.

Just go through the Electronic Elements label from 2005 and backwards

Really like what Markus Schulz did with these two mixes:
Coldharbour Sessions 2004
Miami 05

Yep. Good stuff. Hard to find these days.

Old Coldharbour and EE, win.

If I don't have it anymore that would majorly suck
That track was only released on Universal Religion 2004 and getting that is a major pain in the ass.

And indeed, Coldharbour Sessions 2004 is amazing.

Go seek the stuff what people call progressive house these days and you shall find coldharbour type trance and loads of it and almost no progressive house.

For example? When I hear "Progressive House" these days I either hear bigroom Techprog or Anjunadeeep Style Proghouse.

Mistiquemusic etc. I don't know as I personally don't care for it much, but it seems like >half of what's being recommended as prog. house these days is actually Schulz-trance.

I went trough the last 15 or so pages on Mistique and judging from the samples I couldn't really find anything that sounds like Coldharbour Trance. I think most of it sounds like more modern and melodic early 2000s Progressive House.

Big part of what makes Coldharbour Trance is the big, buzzing continuous bassline and most of the Mistique Tracks have that typical early 2000s Prog bassline.

Most people on planet Earth would agree with you.

Coldharbour trance (aka McProg) is all about the big sidechained basslines, creating that throbbing low end. The twinkly melodies also tend to be very hooky. I was never into this sound, in fact I remember it being much-derided on TA. Funny how now a lot of people are nostalgic about it and lament its demise. In five years time everyone will be missing the good old days of click-prog.

EDIT: I'm not sure if I'd call it Coldharbour trance, but this was an Andy Moor production from that era that I really fucking loved at the time:

Isn't that how it works in most cases?

Personally I don't miss this "genre" much, but it does have nostalgic value to me since I was in to this at one point.

Yes. I find it vaguely depressing when human behaviour falls so neatly into convention. It drains all value from your opinions.

lol that is so true but sad at the same time. I remember in 2004-2005 and mcprog was really hated here (especially by Rebel9). I personally loved it and i still do, pretty much why 2004 was my favorite year in trance.
This is probably the closest thing you find on mistique that resembles the coldharbour sound (which is not that much):

I guess I'm a couple of years off in my recommendations then. I don't really connect trance such as Tilt - Twelve with Schultz. I connect him more with the kind of thing Misiquemusic is producing. Dunno why. Never been a fan of the guy, even though I do like a couple of his productions and some tracks he plays.

Personally I wasn't into Trance back then I'm not into most new Trance either but I still love this stuff.

Yeah, still like those, also reminds me of my clubbing days in Belgium kind of:

Well, not great, but buzzing and twinkly it is:

This post-era coldharbour sound was my big inspiration for me, it led me to create music.

There was something about this style that just hit a chord deep within me.

Yep. "Language" was a huge track in '04.
