Canada in TOP 10 of least corrupt nations in the world
I think that this is one of the most important markers in nation's prosperity and standing. Doesn't that make you proud? You don't have to worry about being pulled over and police officer demanding a bribe for a fake charge.

I think Canada is in the top 10 of countries who are best able to hide corruption. Trust me, corruption is rampant in canada. But instead of being obvious about it, we bury it into mounds of regulation and red tape. Our system is built to serve politicians and hide it from the public. What do you think the real reason is that you need a permit to fart in this country for example? In other countries they would just say "if u want to continue farting you must give me an envelope full of 100s)" LOL
More rules, regulations, red tape = more reliance on government = more power and ability to get what you want from people.

it's a sad list if Canada is in top ten. our serious corruption is less serious compared to elsewhere. not very heartening.
I'd suggest people read through the methodology section of the report, while also keeping in mind what is actually being measured here, before simply accepting the conclusion in the thread title.
I wonder who we paid off to get in the top 10?

as i said, corruption here is institutionalized so we dont call it corruption. We call it doing business. But make no mistake that the only difference is that its done via legal channels. And remember that the government pretty much has the power to make anything legal (and illegal). Just something to think about when these cozy little surveys come out.

People in ex-CCCP always break rules while driving, and when they get caught, they'll just say, Oh, I'll just pay a dude, instead of following regular procedure. It's all starts with us, regular people, all this corruption and bribery, it's acceptable for YOU to give bribe to get something. |

| Originally posted by pozz not really man. cops dont get paid enough, and even becoming a cop in Russia is a much more stable job than working in another industry. In Belorus i heard they have set up a secondary police force that monitors regular police, and to keep these new guys are kept honest by gaving them enormous paychecks. Remember this joke :Three prizes were awarded for the successes in Socialist competition of police dept. #18. The third prize is the Complete Works of Vladimir Lenin. The second prize is 100 roubles and a ticket to Sochi... The first prize is a portable stop sign. (stolen from wikipedia btw) |
