Going to China (not a spam bot thread)
Dear Cor,
I'm going to Guangzhou for a few months to study there (as an exchange student). Has anyone been there before? What do you recommend to do/not to do?
Meanwhile, in China
My brother spent a month there last year studying. He said it was pretty cool. He was in Beijing though.
He did a lot of traveling. Check out all the fucking shit they are building.
Another guy I know taught over there for a year in some po-dunk city (of like 1.5 million people) and said that it sucked because all there was to eat was chinese food.
...

I would totally love to visit China, thing is I pissed off this chick a while back and her uncle some politician over there. I don't feel like landing up dead.

Tell me the recipe is at least better.
asia is truly the place in the world where your boundaries of what you might consider to be normal will be pushed pretty far...that being said enjoy it, you will deffo walk away with this with some new perspectives.
Bring a gas mask, that place is polluted beyond hell! Also visit a nice Duck restaurant. They have tons of cool stuff, you will enjoy!
Most hotel rooms have gas masks there anyway...at least the good ones. I think i have a pic somewhere with the "in case of fire" instructions. Here you would have a bunche of x's and a shitty diagram pointing to the stair well....there they had a comic book quality diagram on how to use a repel rope to scale down the building.
I'm not kidding, they are all ninjas.
The smell is only bad for a week, after that your nose gets used to it because it is always clogged. Tu es francais par contre, cela veut peut etre dire que l'odeur sera peut etre non existant....si tu viens du coin de Paris ton nez est deja detruit par l'odeur de les ordures et de la merde de chien!
and shenzhen is the capital of fake lacoste so get on it! A short train away.
don't drink the water

McDonald's doesn't do delivery in Europe/North America!?
Developing countries for the win
I had to Google Earth that city to remember but I passed through there by train once. Learn to speak Chinese (Mandarin) before you go. It will make the experience a lot more rewarding. The food is great, and not all McDonalds deliver in China so make sure to live close to one that does. KFC delivers too so that's always an option. But, the western places are expensive and taste terrible compared to what you can get off the street. Take razors if you need them to shave and always carry some TP. Have fun!
weren't your lopsided tits made in china?
Be prepared for nasty holes in the floor that they call toilets, noisy people everywhere, people cutting lines and gargling people everywhere.
Oh and get cheap massages and go to Hong Kong
Yes, I'm trying to learn Mandarin (emphasis on the "trying")... The grammar is pretty easy but the words sound all the same to me!
I've been told that they don't spit everywhere anymore (thanks avian flu and sars), but that it is still hard to live with such a smell at the beginning (even for a Parisian guy like me, Jay sale batard
).
lol the only mandarin you need to know (spelled phonetically ) dew lay lomo chow hi.
and if you hear anyone say "gway low" near you, you are being called their word for nigger.
My buddies are used to call me Guigui, which is close to Gigi, which means "cock" in Mandarin.
you are learning already, your big (aka not asian) gigi makes you a status symbol over there. Since you are moving to a "special economic zone" (aka no communism because we want money place lol) there are very well off ladies there looking for western men. Just shower pede.
Guangzhou still has some older and historical buildings that haven't been torn down to turn the place into one big construction site/spittoon like most of the cities, so they're worth seeing.
I don't like China much but there's worse places to visit.
