Got Psy Trance?

I'm looking to broaden my DJ horizons and start playing a bit of psy trance. However, all I really know are trance, techno and progressive labels.

I've listened to a few compilations over the years but really don't know the psy trance scene. Can you guys recommend any decent labels?

I'm looking for the sort of pulsing driving side of psy and the darker dirty side aswell. As much as I love spending hours checking out new releases online I would appreciate a starting point. Any suggestions?

It's got 15-25 classic albums (which I 80% agree with) albums from each year from 1995 to 2010... the 10 best albums by genre (downbeat/ambient, goa trance, psy trance and darkpsy), and the top 5 of each year.

Definitely a good place to start.

I was about to start a new post in search of melodic psytrance/full on trance, i post here 2 examples that you may like too so double win.

Newer or Older tracks i don't care, thank you in advance.

I recommend you to check out releases by Twisted Records, Dragonfly Records and the now defunct legendary Flying Rhino Records.

Avoid any israeli full on labels. The israeli ******s have whored the psy trance to death.

Some albums I recommend:

Distance to goa>goa head.

Click my set archive and check out Radioactive Sound, Frequency Surge, Power Trip, and The Best of Yang if you want some thumping psytrance. Best of Yang actually features one of the tracks Rodri Santos posted. And definitely make your way through Ektoplazm, that site is unbelievable.

How is that terribly helpful?

neelix

one label I recently discovered is Zazoo. glad I found it too. Some of their releases are chill enough to play along with prog house giving a set some additional go if thats what it needs.
As always much love to Flying Rhino. around 2000 lots of darker stuff was being produced on that label. Also check NAJA for more dark stuff
I love Spirallianz. If you don't have this album get it, I love it

Don't be afraid to check the sublabels while your visit the website

Not quite. I'd say that falls under more of the likes of Infected Mushroom and Skazi.

How can anyone be worse than Infected Mushroom? Is that even possible?

This is false. Neelix isn't that great, but it's not like he's Infected Mushroom bad.

Infected Mushroom are amazing producers , wether you like them or not, and anyone who denys that please, try to reconstruct one of their tracks just for the sake of shuting my mouth, better if i suggest you the track i want to be reconstructed. If they suck so much as you state i'm sure something with a few months of experience with fl studio can beat them.

I don't see any production skills in his work, the few tunes i listened look like a beedrom producer work, completely incomparable to IM sound which is more polished, his tracks sound to me like commercial psytrance, even the little elements like the snare sound like a house snare instead of psy. He is surely the AvB of psytrance... music who has no soul at all.

There's a big difference between having production skill and musical talent.

getting the production values apart i think the only thing i can reproach to them is not having a really really good melodical tune, their melodies are just decent not outstanding.

This is a rare track by them who is just amazing interesting from the beginning to the end... until 2004 i think i have no reproachs to them , then they started incorporating too many guitars and vocals and is when they had all the sucess all of you little envious TA vermins hate them.

Oriental music, electronica and guitars, all in a track. This is being original if you compare to the plain Neelix stuff

If Infected are amazing at making psy means that U-Recken should be considered the god of the genre.

The truth is Infected are ridiculous with their wanna be a metal band. The border was exceeded already and now things became really pathetic. Experimenting is ok, but I like trance! If I wanna hear Metal I would listen to Slayer rather than Infected.

And btw even their previous productions are mediocre.

Posted by Hrvoje on Jan-12-2011 11:47:

i totaly agree...

Posted by chewy dragee on Jan-12-2011 12:08:

I really like the I'm the supervisor album and classical mushroom.
(although not all the tracks)

The rest is rather not for me.

Neelix is fucking boring.

I find that one really needs to browse the shit out of psytrance before one finds a good track.

You totally fail in your argumentation. To argue that people should try to reproduce IM's track is a shit argument. That is the kind of statements which ASOT fags have been using for years now.
