What software do famous producers use?

We all have our preferences of course, but I thought it would be interesting to see what software the big name producers use.

So far I've ascertained the following:

Armin van Buuren uses Logic Pro
Paul van Dyk uses Logic Pro (he's been using Logic since 1995)
Leon Bolier uses Cubase
Mark Sixma aka M6 started producing with Fruityloops, but I think he now uses Reason.
Sander van Doorn uses Logic Pro.

All of them switch so regularly due to platform changes, endorser changes and preference changes that its just not possible to keep up with. Aside from which, they're all largely identical now except for ableton and reason, so I don't see why it really matters.

PS
This threads been done before...

+1

DAW really doesn't make a difference at all. It's just about what you're comfortable in. I hate MACs and I'm comfortable with Cubase. I know it inside and out. I'm not going to change just because most of the "top" guys prefer Logic.

What would be more interesting is what instruments and effects are their favorite.

korg ims20

Honestly tho, that is the funnest thing on the planet. I also got all these apps for fader controls and shit. I think i'm gonna buy 2 more and just use it as a futuristic desk controller. Also , i like turning off the lights and pretend i'm piloting the falcon Millennium.

I'm pretty sure Tiesto uses Dance Ejay. Don't quote me on that.

7Skies Logic
Sean Tyas Logic
Menno de Jong Logic
Airbase Ableton
Deadmau5 Fl Studio (Used at least)

I just found out, korg IMS20 for Ipad, 15euros, you should be looking forward buying an ipad. Its also fun to place it as an extra small screen in your cockpit.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-23-2011 20:55:

I just bought one. I'm gonna get 2 more. Man its gonna look so tits. Seriously tho , I downloaded a bunch of controller apps and although I haven't had a chance to try them out, they are so fucking cheap. I figure with 3 , all your tracks and inserts and what not would be covered.

and risk.

Posted by Rodri Santos on Jan-23-2011 20:57:

i was thinking of an ipad, i have a ~1200 budget and i am doubtful about how i'd invest them, expect a thread soon.

Posted by Mise on Jan-23-2011 21:03:

btw offtopic: the OSC application is really really useful too.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-23-2011 21:15:

seriously, the ipad is the coolest thing ever. I mean that korg app is way too much fun. But like there are all kinds of apps like touchosc where you can pretty much design your interface. Seems like such a bvetter way to go than old fashioned controllers.

Must be pretty cool on the iPad, I was stupid enough to buy it for my iPod touch. The screen is way too small for it to be usable

wonder if its possible to sync with a traditional daw on mac. then i had my drums and baseline in rebirth

Anyone know of any touchscreen controler programs for the PC?

The Monotouch live one was awesome but the guy discontinued the project to start up some hardware thing hes gonna sell.

I am building a pretty rad touchscreen for kicks but im at a loss with what software i can use, I need midi out and a customizable graphic interface nothing special.
