Instead of just posting a picture, it would have been helpful to post a link to an article about whatever you're referencing.
I presume you're talking about the bullshit bans on the niqab and burqa in France. Their justification for banning it is the biggest load of garbage I have ever heard and I think it sets a terrifying precedent. It's pretty scary when you start allowing the government to dictate what you can and cannot wear... next they will be banning skirts that are too short and t-shirts with offensive messages.
Stay the fuck out of my closet and out of my personal business. Wearing a niqab/burqa does not impose any real threats to anyone other than making those who are already anti-Islam nervous. If you're going to claim safety, then you should ban ski-masks, any costume masks, wedding veils, beards, sunglasses, make-up etc. Anything that can distort your facial image and make it more difficult to identify you is arguably a threat.
If it's about preserving secularism, then ban priest and nun garb, ban monk robes, ban people from wearing a cross, ban the turban, etc. etc.
If it's about protecting these women's rights and giving them freedom... well then, they are simply confused. Taking away their right to wear what they want does not in some way give them rights or more freedom. As a result of this bullshit ban, many of these women are going to feel forced to live as hermits, never leaving their home. That does not promote freedom. Besides, banning something that you think is oppressive is not going to change the root of the problem.
This is just poorly disguised discrimination and it pisses me off.
In england some places are banning hoddies and the crime rate dropped drastically. Seems quite reasonable, ban hoodies, and people dont get stabbed, ban those ridiculous pieces of cloth and people dont get blown up.

First arrest already happening

Two women wearing burqas have been arrested by French police just hours after the Republic became the first country in the world to enact laws banning wearing the Islamic veil in public. The women, part of a small group protesting against the new law in front of Notre Dame Cathedral in central Paris, could face fines of 150 and be forced to attend 'citizenship lessons' - although it now appears likely they will be cautioned because the demonstration was not authorised. The French ban on face veils began yesterday and is the result of months of heated public debate and parliamentary argument, sparked by President Nicolas Sarkozy, last year. Advertisement: Story continues below His centre-right UMP government introduced the law as part of a targeted populist strategy aimed at quelling increasing public unrest about rising unemployment, widespread austerity measures and immigration. |

Originally posted by Senator Clay Davis you seem to believe that logic matters. they have to try everything cause common sense do not work on religious people. eventhough muslim women say they want to wear the shit, its because of fear for their gods or their man, or the society, not at all because they want to. your youtube vid was pretty shit btw, and proves what i say. "i wear it to be faithfull to my religion", a religion they did not choose themselfs. im not saying banning will work lol, but somethings gotta be done. im gonna grab my popcorn and see whats gonna happen with all of these.

Originally posted by Theresa That's ridiculous. Most of the women who wear the Niqab (outside of Saudi Arabia etc.) do so willingly. They are not forced to - they WANT to wear it.
most of the people who wear that shit smell
good ban

I am easily offended by people who are offended by easily offended people.

Originally posted by Theresa Yes, they have been taught/convinced/socialized to wear the niqab, but that doesn't mean they aren't doing so willingly. If that is your argument, then freewill doesn't exist.

Ok seriously, i meant that the actual piece of clothing itself doesnt cause stabbings (as opposed to the other hoodies who clearly are the cause for stabings). I mean, most of my tops have some sort of a hood and ive never stabber anyone (as far as i can remember, i black out sometimes if i drink to much
), though it is true that i never actually wear the hood up
Also this by Jimmy Carr comes to mind in relation to hoodies

"David Cameron said we should hug a hoodie. Why stop there? While you're at it tickle a rapist, wank off a mugger..."
