I miss the days of the Quebec Nordiques. The Colorado Avalanche are stupid. Oh the days of Sakic, Forsberg, Thibault, and Fiset. Silly Canadians, giving away your hockey teams to us stupid Americans. Does anyone else miss the ol' stick and igloo?

The only point in time which I ever had even a minor amount of respect for the Quebec Nordiques was when Ron Tugnut made 71 saves against the Boston Bruins........Go Wings!!

Im taking Swedish as my required language for college. Oh and from an informative presentation about Swedish hockey today I realize that the way NHL chooses its players makes the difference in how Sweden looks. Sweden values skills and finesse while the NHL favors Canadians and large oafs. So if two equal players one Swede and one Canadian are attempting to get signed, the Canadian will get picked. This means the Swedes in the NHL and the best of the best, so it makes Sweden look really good.

Oh and Forsberg is on a Swedish stamp, that must mean hes the shit. peace. or Hej d�.

No, no. Like I said before, there are more Canadians in the NHL cause the NHL will pick any Canadian over an equal player of different origin. This is why there are so many Canadians. Canada doesn't have more talented players, theyve just been practicing longer...you aren't better at a sport simply because you invented it. -note im not insulting Canadians, im just saying that there are reasons for the why certain countries appear better. peace.

well, i still disagree, but i don't wanna drag this on any longer. no disrespect for the swedes though. btw, canada didn't invent hockey. it was pioneered over in europe first and made it's way over here. check out nhl.com and check out the history of the sport. pretty interesting stuff.

I just wanna add a little something

First of all, no two players are exactly equal in skills, one will always be better than the other in some way.

Second of all, when a general manager of an NHL team is deciding who to pick at the draft and he has a choice of a canadian and a european, who do you think he's gonna pick. Of course he'll take the more skilled player, it doesn't matter if he's canadian or not. A managers first job is to make his team better not fuel the canadian hockey industry. I'll bet you a dollar that every single manager doesn't give a shit whether a player is canadian or not.
