This poll is in response to the thread submitted by eurotrancefla73 about Paul van Dyk being overated. There were mixed feelings about this topic, so i thought we could find a conclusion on what people think about him through this poll. Thanks

I think his DJ-skills are very good!!!! Producing I don't know, I don't know what he has produced in his life

yeah me 2 i dont like him that much....AvB and Tiesto are alot better in my opinion

of all his sets my fav is live @rosenmontages rave but my respect goes out to Armin van Burren and Tiesto

lol am i the only one that actually prefer his production more than his mixing? i have to admit his production ain't the best, but if i have to choose something that i like most about PvD it is his music and not his mixing. i think he is overrated but he is still good.

Anyone who doesn't like his production should listen to his song called - words (for love). Thats one hell of a song. Also I think he has a really good taste for trance especially those uplifting songs.

Productions - Cheezy, All the same but with different riffs, pansy.. etc etc.. he used to be a lot better, when the samples he were using were new.. i think he's over used them a bit now.

DJing - Unbeatable.

I really like PvD's productions.. especially the ones he does with BT. For an Angel is an absolute classic and I still love listening to it to this day!

Also, some of the best sets i've ever heard have been spun by none other than PvD himself. (For those who haven't heard PvD Live @ Home London.. this is a good example!)

I can't be swayed on my opinion...I think PvD is the BAM! For some reason...if he touches it...I like it. I am not a big fan of his radiofritz show, but I love his production (esp remixes), and I think his mixes are Top-Of-Da-Line. There aren't a lot of Dj's who spin a 10 hour set on a regular schedule. I love Tiesto and Van Buuren...but PvD is the schiznit.

I went for both.
coz i still believe that any DJ who produces something, it wont necessarily have to be 100% great. some of his stuff has to be bad

and if u say his stuff is all the same, well maybe that goes for his OWN songs.. under his own name (though not ALL.. Columbia sounds different to his normal stuff).
But stuff he does with BT and his remixing.. he is quite good.

Someone mentioned Words, which btw he and John Digweed both worked on. that is one hell of a choon but it dates back to 1999.

People are dissing my fave deejay......oh well that is there opinion. I've seen him live, he rocks. Production wise, what about for an angel, words, avenue, we are alive, together we will conquer, forbidden fruit (Pure melodic gold), beautiful place. My gosh, only time, PVD has let me down was his X-MFS Mix from 1993 (Pure rubbish).

I agree...
For me he's too cheezy, I think he's over it indeed, not only with producing but also with dj-ing. I witnessed his set at Innercity a few months ago and saw some playlists and some tunes he uses to play nowadays and the most of it was quite cheezy.

i also selected BOTH because PVD is my favorite DJ.
but another very good DJ is Carl Cox. i dont like his style of music very much but he is ABSOLUTELY PROFESSIONAL. he can make you wonder what he can do with the decks.
