So who's the best original trance dj still spinning fine sets

Because all my old favorites:

PVD - plays too many vocal europoppy kinda crap
Markus schulz - seems to play some very indifferent styles
Tiesto - well he kinda went down the pan mid 00's didnt he?
AVB - too floaty

Im after something stylistically similar to pvd's old style, fast, synthy, pumping and original.

It might be me, but does everything sound the same these days?

Pauly D plays the uplifting these days, if your after pumping full on trance then Pauly D is your best bet.

Could not agree more! i sift through 4000 tunes a month on beatport and buy 10 so you'll never hear any average crap on my sets! (i put the time in to keep the quality - someone has to - but then as ppl are so happy to point out 'i'm old' and meticulous!

ferry- he will start off his set with some good trance but once he gets into his producer set you may as well just leave cause your just gonna hear all his hits

pvd- he is hit or miss these days, but when he's on he can def bang out some good stuff

tiesto- not even trance no more and he said it himself

armin- hes a pop star now...vocals,mash-ups and producer sets

John '00' Fleming.

Bit of a predictable answer but if you're looking for a big name who is still making the effort he's your guy. Some people get put off with him being tagged as psytrance, but really it's somewhere in between that and regular trance music. Keep your eye out for a special Episode 100 of his 'Global Trance Grooves' radio show which is due to air any day now. And you could always check out the mix in my signature if you want to hear similar stuff to that which he plays

Read an interesting interview with J00f on beatport recently and he raises some very valid and true points about trance music and djs.. Im not a fan of the psy sound but i guess i could give him another chance..

You guys must be kidding. I once listened to a John '00' Fleming set and there was no real Trance in it. No vocals, no breakdowns, no melody, just stupid Goa faggotry. And his mixing was awful. Sean Tyas is a better DJ and plays real Trance.

Ok, so we can argue about who has better skills and stuffs like that, maybe Tyas is a nice DJ. But he is definitely NOT playing real trance. He's supporting too much eletro oriented tunes and his new productions are really crap including a new male vocal cheese.

Tyas is going downhill, not even close the same guy who produced Lift, Heart To Heart etc...

About J00F, i saw him 2 weeks ago and it was absolutely amazing, best live set i ever heard and there were 15 - 20 minutes with absolutely no breakdowns.

I don't think you know what "real trance" is.

I've just choked on my tea and spat it out!

Flemming is one of the most smoothest mixing DJ's on this planet that I have ever seen.
Your comments regarding no vocals and breakdowns summed things up nicely, the OP was asking for original Trance DJs NOT the crap you are referring too.
