Jester Katana - Fancy Fair is techno?

I've seen someone writing this in a swiss trance channel.

Imo this is NOT techno, techno would be Chris Liebling, Mauro Picotto stuff, but not Fancy Fair! What do you think about this?

Curious for your opinions.

Wouldn't call it techno, but don't really know what to call it

Posted by NooKLeaR on Aug-20-2002 00:21:

who cares.....ITS GOOD!

Posted by starglider on Aug-20-2002 01:07:

I'd call it tech trance if I had to give it a genre, I guess.

tek trance sounds good to me

sorta like
mark norman - overkill
tiesto - flight 643

Posted by Noisician on Aug-20-2002 01:56:

this is not techno - that's for sure. but what is it then? i'd say trance with slight techno influence.

it's a rip off of DHS - House of God it kicks ass though.

Seriously though, why the need for genre's and labels? It's Dance Music.. end of.

In my opinion this is techno. Sounds like something that would come in those TechnoTraxx cds.

its defintely tech trance mates.

Minimalistic trance? We should analise other Katana's tunes... gemini is trance - probably, when he produced "Fancy Fair", he was trying to do some new tranzy thing

Will this song does have a lot techno samples.....getting near techno....

The the person who said "Imo this is NOT techno, techno would be Chris Liebling, Mauro Picotto stuff, but not Fancy Fair!" does not know much about 'techno'.......Mauro picotto makes stuff like Fancy Fair to....
You have techno styles which are softer than Fancy Fair....
I don't think it's techno...I don't know which style it is.....I just call it Dance-music....
You can't say which style it precisly is, styles get mixed to much these days.

That's what we call hardtrance in Belgium

Posted by verminator on Aug-20-2002 13:46:

it sounds a bit like some old BXR techno, which imo is not too good
the song itself is built up like a trance song with some techy elements

like an old marco v production , for example certainly

at least not techno, thats for sure.)

Fancy Fair can never be compared to tracks like Baguette or We are back. Of course, take Komodo as example, but I don't listen to that stuff.

But he makes it....doesnt matter f you listen to it or not

I didn't say that it's near Baquette and other bangin' stuff....
People only look to tracks which are well known by every one else....people never look wide....listen to one style of an producer...look at his hole record bio....

Posted by Ian on Aug-20-2002 16:23:

I don't really mind what it is cos its cool, has harder elements in it and if anything I'd say it was 'energetic trance' like most marco v's more trancier ones like out of grace - obscura & simulated

Posted by evil_bastard on Aug-20-2002 16:53:

This is definitely rhetorical hardcore.

What about Dj Albert Vs Precision - Say Yes (Katana Remix)???

Posted by vmc on Aug-20-2002 21:33:

it's tech-trance IMO.

Agreed!

Whatever you call it, it's a wicked track... I went ballistic when Tiesto dropped it @ 2 Tribes earlier this year in Sydney
