and it is ignition for most rocket systems, because you usually do not get lift off till a second or two after full motor ignition.

For the space shuttle I think it went main engine ignition was at t-5 seconds, and at t the SRBs ignited and then at like t+2 the thing actually had enough thrust behind it to actually start gaining altitude.

They say lift off in the video but its not always lift off. If you watch the Saturn V videos especially...

Though I don't know really, you could time lift off to the count down because the rocket is held back by the restraining arms on the pad...
