Rich wub-wub sound

Hey Guys,

I've been working in FL studio trying to get a good wub wub sound. I've had some minor successes, but still cannot get that professional and satisfying deep vibrating bass that you hear in dub step...

Can anyone give me a hand? Right now I am using a fairly simple OSC 3x setup with triangles and saws and an LFO to produce the oscilations...

In alot of dubstep I hear a heavy bass synth that goes into heavy vibration at certain intervals (seperate from the oscillation). I want to perfect both the oscillation (beats) the vibration, and also the heavy bass effect...

Can anyone give me a hand? Please check out what I have so far. The wub-wub comes in after around 0:54.

(also if anyone has any mastering tips I'd appreciate it so much!)

Use Massive.

What is massive? I want to be able to master the technicalities without any cheat software. lol

what you need is a moog voyager, it will take you into the deepest depths of sound imaginable

You'll need to load up 100 instances of 3xOSC, and set each one to a sine wave. From there you'll need to program each partial's envelope and pitch to get that rich wub-wub sound you've always wanted.

I'd recommend an i7 processor, but if you don't have one you'll need to eventually freeze each channel to keep from FL from crashing. Good luck.

just about any synth can do that. Massive works if you want a very processed sound but sounds rather thin if you just use the pure oscillators. The actual example sounds rather thin and could be done with anything really. Synth 1 is free and will do that. The quality and step of the filter is what makes the different when using just a pure oscillator.

Moorg voyager? Please tell me more. I need the proper tools to make the right trance and electronca sounds. Please help me!

Please tell me what you mean by step!

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

oh yeah the moog voyager, raw fat analog Oscillators will give you the ultimate sound that you never dreamed of. Tiesto and Armin van Burren use it. Its quite expensive but its a custom to own a voyager. It will take you to the farthest realms of analogue music ever possible!

Ask him, he pioneered the voyager

I think tal-bassline can make pretty good wub wub sounds. It's free too.

The OP is attempting to create this sound himself and learn the proper techniques so good for him. And all most of you can do is take the piss or suggest he get a new synth?

We should all know that most sounds can be made on ANY synth. The trick is learning how to do it. Not just finding out what synths have the correct presets...

Haha. Thanks, I think!

Can you at least elaborate on how to adjust the pitch and envelope? Maybe I will open up 10 instances.

He's joking. Or at least I hope he's joking. I don't know how 3xosc works but you probably need only 2 at most for that sound, and judging by the name of "3xosc" it must already have 3 oscilators so it might even do the job so 2 instance is already an overkill.

But perhaps the filter for 3xosc just doesn't do the job for you which is something I doubt, but that's why i'm suggesting other synths.

If I were you I would look up synth1, its free and sounds pretty good. At least it is much nicer to work with than 3xosc IMO.

Do you guys really think I need those if I already have Sytrus or Toxic Biohazard?

Posted by Beatflux on Oct-21-2011 00:34:

Massive is really THE synth for Dubstep.

Exactly.

Why? Just to make sure dubstep stays ossified as a caricature of popular music in spite of the more creative sounds which came out of it? I'm sorry but while music in general doesn't suffer from it, there actually is a limited economy to what brostep can achieve.

OH NOES! EDDIE DOESN'T LIKE DUBSTEP SO I GUESS I SHOULD RE-EVAULUATE MY MUSICAL TASTES!

Thanks for helping me to see the light.

By the way... aren't you the same guy that was hating in my posts about 6 months ago and had to have the thread deleted cause you got owned?

Why do you persist?

I'm questioning the artistic integrity of making dubstep and not really being a dick about it. You're somewhat posturing and defensive, however. You are also mistaken concerning the individual you happened to "own" as I'm not that familiar with you but if you really want to test how hard you can be owned, start a thread in the COR. I'm more than willing to take a monumental shit down your neck, but I'll be fucked if I do that, here.

Uh you came to my thread where I've asked for technical help with completely useless criticsm, and a mocking tone (brostep).

I'd call that being a dick.

Also, you could never own me.

Can you please just not comment in my threads, as I've already asked you to do? I suppose that's too much to ask.

That is what it's called. The offense you derive is yours to derive, based on your delusions about how reverently you feel your topic should be regarded. You then submitted that you had "owned" me as though I would have some intimidating recollection of being dominated by you, someone who can barely stand the thought of having an idea ostensibly separate from them, criticized. Now you want to ask me to stop posting in your threads?

Quit posting stupid questions a chimp could answer in my forum and I'll give your proposal some thought. Could never own you?

You just fucking owned yourself.
