+1 if its true. Damn, what an option. This goes back to some of the points I was making in the other thread. I cant think of another well known DJ that put themselves in such a great position. I wouldnt have thought of all the DJs to do it, it would be Jules

Perhaps he is going into entertainment Law and using all of his connections hes made over the years to evolve them into different revenue drivers.

he couldnt reach international massive event stage headliner status and so he called it a day and moves on. good for him. i think he was opener for atb, who was opener for pvd during that event with the pvd/atb fiasco.

thats exactly what he's doing and has stuff lined up already.

I think its about time. imo, he was in denial of thinking he could still make it when "the young ones" are taking over. glad he came to his senses.

One of the first DJs I ever saw live about 5 years ago. His set at How Sweet It Is 09 still remains one of my all time favorites. The man was entertaining and funny on the mic. Also a damn proud Arsenal FC fan, go Gunners!

no. do not go to law school. there are not enough jobs and the field is already watered down with hundreds of certified schools that should not be certified

i mean, you can still do it but you will graduate with $100k in debt and be working at starbucks if you can find one with an opening

Amen to that, my friend graduated a year ago and is working as someone's lawyer aide making only 30k a year. Unless you got a relative in the field, you won't find a job

there just aren't enough jobs to go around. which i suppose is true with a lot of fields right now, but it's especially true for lawyers. it's really really rough out there. tell your friend to hang in there though, at least he/she has their foot in the door, that's the first step...

True, it's that way with most careers right now. Almost everyone I know who has gotten a decent job in the last year or two has gotten it through connections. It's certainly not limited to law.

didnt read your link, but right on the money. i recall reading an article a few years ago that the average lawyer income was super low (due to many "lawyers" not handling cases etc, thus earnings are minimal)

for every internationally known headlining lawyer like Johnny cochran billing $500 an hour, youve got 19 local lawyers who couldnt open the door for johnny making $0. i heard midcard lawyers do ok though.

It depends on how good of a school you come from. I know a girl who graduated from NYU (~ top 5 last I heard) and went into patent law making >200k right away. Now, if you're trying to get a low-mid tier law degree you'll be in a lot more trouble when you graduate...

Pretty much. My brother just passed the bar. He went to Loyola Law School. I would like him to work for a big firm so he get worked like a slave and learn more, but he says no one is hiring, so for now he is working for me for $15 an hour. (same rate I gave him before he passed the bar)

Depends. Being a lawyer def sounds better than being a promoter to your girlfriend's parents, however if done right, one highly successful event can bring in lots of $.

Both have risks as well. As a promoter you can lose your ass on DJ fees, bar guarantees etc. Same goes with a risky case where liability is questionable. You spend your time, filing fees, expert fees and jury fees. If the jury doesn't like you, your case or your client, you get zero from the Plaintiff minus all the $ you spent on the case.

Thankfully going from a promoter to lawyer did help me promoter my name to my promoter database. I get lots of cases (car accidents, litigation and some criminal) just from Facebook and contacts.

A part of me would still love to own a nightclub one day. (will likely never happen though)
