It's not as simple as it seems, you need a catchy riff. The bassline here is what does it and it is catchy, as is the simple synth lead. If you get a good melody, well then this is what can happen

Its a good song, the lyrics are kind of like the usual shitty lyrics you get with house tracks but they are taken way further, wich is why I like it.

with 1 sylenth or nexus bassline and 1 lead on top.
You don't need an extensive arsenal of HW, neither do you need to program beats yourself. you just drag and drop the right "vibe" from above sites (or their pirated copys from all major warez/torrent sites)
and there you go. the NU sound just like everybody else.
It's not hard to make "me too" music and ride the wave.
Much harder to do something all the way yourself.
OP is about a guy using a simple tool and having a great hook, taking the piss with drunk clubbing teens, that's why people identify with the song, together with cool laid back "sax" riff (sort of reincarnation of "to ibiza" theme / recentely also used in destination Calabria (if your older than 14 and live in europe you'll make the connection right away) and some older 19xx songs i've forgot the names from right now) makes it just right. Great songwriting, right vibe at the right time.
pretty sure labels pay to to get their tracks on the beatport top 10 I don't think it's always an accurate reflection of what's selling. In other words beatport is heavily gamed. Luckily for them peoples opinions are very easily swayed so if a DJ thinks a track is popular they'll buy it
