Question The tide shifting with Blackberry users going over to iPhones....

I guess I'm a bit surprised at the shift in the past year -- specifically because the reasons BB users stuck to their devices in the past are still there today (physical keyboard(on some models), email, bbm, etc.)

So, what is it? Is it just the mass media consensus that RIM is a sinking ship and/or iphones are just now seen as acceptable consumer + 'business' devices?

Hmmm?

not going to an iphone anytime soon....Tools, not toys for me.

The shift isn't as apparent as its often made out.

Blackberry is the most used smartphone in Canada, the UK and is outpacing apple in almost every developing market. Blackberry users grew by 35% last year alone. Yes, the iphone is the "in demand" phone right now and sales & market share reflects this, but it isn't exactly the one horse race the media often makes it to be.

Sidenote: the iphone 4, 3GS, & ipad have all been pulled from the German market after Samsung won a court order against them.

Apple can kiss my ass

If I ever trade in my bb it'll be for android!

Posted by jon jon on Feb-05-2012 20:26:

why the christ do people find so much identity with a cellphone

anyways, I"m fucking lighting quick on my bb keypad (lol), bbm can be either super convenient or fucking annoying as hell, that "clink" sound can sometimes give me anxiety lol (as I think someone wants a reply instantly)

lol @ del starting a cellphone thread, the guy takes 3 days to reply to any msg u send him hahahah

sorry back to my point earlier, if BB drops the keypad I'm out so fast

I was talking to one of my fabric suppliers on Friday and he is like, I will never give up my BlackBerry. He went on like a 10 minute rant, how RIM should just be called BlackBerry and there should only be one phone the Bold and not like all the other models out there. Which I did agree with him, just RIM takes forever to update their OS though and specs. Plus he talked about how they should work on their ad campaigns.

OT: I might even get a PlayBook sometime in the near future, seeing it supports Android apps or I'll stick to waiting for a proper Android tablet.

That's a big deal for me. I'm not sure about touch-screen users on Android or iPhone but I appreciate being able to type without having to look at my keyboard the whole time.

im glad i dropped bb and got an iphone. it seems like a much more powerful phone especially when jailbroken.

I hate arguing with people over BB and iphone. I find a lot of people I have these discussions with just dont see the other side of the tech industry as well as the other side of BBs.

Its almost as useless as discussing religion.

was just about to mention that ad.

1. the avg joe has no frigging clue who martinez brother is

2. just so poorly shot and awkward

I know at least 20 people who have made the switch in the last six months

Posted by jon jon on Feb-06-2012 04:22:

some other things I wanna say on the subject... (lol)

I think w/out a doubt the iPhone is a FAR superior phone in regards to what shit it can do for you... but the importance of txt'ing is paramount to me... I use my phone to txt more than anything else. I need the keypad and I FUCKING HATE autocorrect.

It also annoys me that people never mention that RIM is Canadian. That should have SOME value!

Their final BBM status is:

Goodbye Blackberry Hello iphone!

YOU FUCKING, RETARD.

Yeah, that's why their agent is so psyched to have gotten it. And you do know it's not a guy named Martinez Brother, right? It's two dudes. The're of latin descent. And they're related.

same. all i do is text and i shared the exact same feeling about having a a proper keyboard with keys that you can press down and feel. however, i got used to the iphone fairly quick and i can type at a decent speed now. its not as bad as i thought it would be.

Posted by jon jon on Feb-06-2012 04:53:

"not as bad" isn't worth it for me lol

Posted by jon jon on Feb-06-2012 04:54:

the very concept of autocorrect enrages me

Also repeated on Facebook.

The good thing about these iPhone migrations is it's a nice BBM clean up.

I don't know how people can leave the sounds on for bbm and texts. they drove me nuts. I muted the sounds before the end of my first week

Posted by Dior Homme on Feb-06-2012 07:17:

The iphone will not last forever. Just like the ipod people will be repeat purchases until the bubble bursts like the ipod sees now.

Apparently the new ipod nano (same 1x1") has a camera attached to it. Talk about creeping...
