Hi everyone I am new to TA & wanted to introduce myself

Hi everyone my name is John, on air I go by the name Mr Canada. I am a dj & radio host on College radio in Toronto.

My show is called World Series: Canada, & it airs every Wednesday at 1am on Fusion Radio. We play Canadian music new & old, from all genres. We also feature interviews with Canadian music makers, music industry professionals, & music fans.

If you have any suggestions for guests that you would like to hear on my show, please share them. Also feel free to add me to twitter & facebook .

so you're saying that you are introducing yourself and spamming your show to us.

if you were not spamming us then you would've given us your personal facebook link rather than a fan page for your show.

also, you would simply state that you host a show aand leave it at that but you ask for people to send you their material, etc then its spam.

I just wanted to introduce myself & my show to djs, producers, industry people & music fans on TA. If I broke any Ta rules I am sorry, & you can lock the thread.

Coming in with the self promo turned to 11 is pretty tactless.

The social media game requires much more subtlety than you might think

Also, you're not the first dude to offer some sort of 'exposure opportunity'. These sort of things are a dime a dozen. That being said, i have massive respect for the guys who do it properly.

Welcome to TA, we're a good group, especially if you know how to play on internet forums.

In all honesty I wasn't trying to be subtle. I figured since this was a music forum, and I do a music show, that it would make sense to post on here.

I am a new show & working on building a listenership, but at all times I will 100% expose Canadian music makers, industry people & music fans on my show. Thats the basis of my show, & I intend to do my best at it.

Welcome but please remember that the community is a two-way street...many use TA for their own purposes and then conveniently forget about it once they've exhausted whatever reason they came here for in the first place -- that's why you got such a 'hostile' reception.

That said, it seems you survived the initial hazing

Honestly the unspoken one, still boggles my mind about the determination, the names, the typing... So happy I stayed out of that hoopla

I understand that community is a 2 way street, & I dont plan on using Ta or anyone. I wanted to share what I do & I want to share what the people who are involved in music here do, its a 2 way street.

I also wouldnt say the reception is that hostile, its more weird with the other users calling me names & talking in code language like they are making fun of me.

Thanks I am going to try, its hard when people seem to be making fun of me by talking in code, with pictures & in secret languages tho.
