New Headphones!

Hey dudes,
Today I just picked up some Technics RP-DJ1210's. These are fooken brilliant! The treble destroys your ears before the bass stumbles. They also passed the Drum n Bass Sub bass test. These rock!
BTW what type of headphones/earphones do you guys use for DJing or simply listening? Usually for my discman i just use my cheap $20 sony earphones.

i have tech 1200's. didnt like the coil cord on the 1210's, kept getting in the way.

Posted by matt_a on Sep-02-2002 11:12:

I'm a fan of the coil cord now as my first pair of headphones (really shitty ones) had a normal cord and it was hangin on the ground and my dog ran past caught the cord and pulled them onto the ground breaking off the right phone, forcing me to glue it back in so then there was no swivel.
But I may get sick of it, I doubt it though!

Wicked headphones mate! They're the headphones that I've been using for ages. Nice size, nice weight, juicy bass and clarity througout the whole range of sound. Only problem is the coil - it sometimes (but only rarely) gets tangled which can get a little annoying.

So can anyone objectively tell me the difference between the 1210's and the hd 25's?

apart from brand.

and price.

and design.

AKG K301's for me thanks. Had them for years, sound good and have taken all sorts of drops and crashes and pulls. Taken em overseas and still going strong so i'm happy

sennheiser's for me, one true path to joy, i've got hd200's, i think the hd25 sound better but i find em uncomfortable. Maybe you get used to it.

(being dial-up friendly )

heck those technics look pretty sick...what's the dial thing for? or is it decoration?

meh hasn't any headphones

tho i have some nice earphones ...for some stupid *(#$^ reason i thought i killed my mdr-e888s...so got my friend to get another pair in hk...meanwhile, used the first pair 'cos it's all i have & discover they're working fine (*&^$#*&^$*&

You can never go wrong with a sennheiser's quality

The HD-25's are very bassy.. but then again which DJ phones arent?

Posted by DJ Dowlz on Sep-03-2002 07:52:

I love my 1210s, but you know what headphones I'd really like to get? The ones that Darude wears during the Sandstorm clip ... sweeet! Or are they the Senheiser ones?

It's not a dial, just decoration :-)

When i got my decks they had no cheapie pioneer ones so i got a pair of sedj5000's. I really like them, they are way comfortable.

I've got both and i can tell you the main difference is volume and clarity at loud volumes. The 200's are great but they don't go loud enough. The 25's aren't neccesarily that much louder, more that they completely block out and noise from outside the ear so you can't hear the speakers, only the headphones. great for one ear monitoring.

But yeah, the 200's are more comfortable, the 25's seem really tight on my head

Sennheiser owners prob flame me and tell me theirs are better, but these ones work fine for me. $269 on sale i got them for.

Posted by matt_a on Sep-04-2002 13:20:

Im def not gonna flame you cause those were the ones I was gonna get if I didn't get the Technics. I was choosing between the Sony;s and Technics. But I went Technics because I could buy them in Penrith and I have to go to Sydney to get the Sony's and I couldn't be bothered.

Posted by stamper on Sep-04-2002 13:26:

So how much do you people pay for these headphones??

Posted by matt_a on Sep-04-2002 13:32:

$299

Why the fuck couldn't they jsut say $300! Then I wouldn't have to worry about wasting $1!

$299 sounds cheaper than $300
Well it is cheaper, but visually it seems much cheaper.

Posted by hey cheggy on Sep-04-2002 13:57:

my old ones were $150 (hd-200) and me new babies were $400. (25's)

I've used the Sony headphones that DJAhmet has a pic of there. Personally I think they've got a great sound, but my only problem with them is that they're a little too heavy and bulky. And they don't feel as though they're fitting as nicely to your head as the 2100's do.

Yes. i must admit, they are abit heavy... The sound is quite nice on them, The Sennheiser are very light, i must admit that. But i guess im happy with my headphones, and cant complain, a very good thing about them is the headphone jack, it actually screws on rather than clip on like alot of the other headphones.... Ohh another thing with the sennheaiser's u pay a shit load for them and no gold plated jack's??? maybe they make up for it in other area's but still... how much extra would it cost to get them gold plated?

Posted by DynaFire on Sep-06-2002 07:20:

The Hd200's have a gold plated jack
