Snoop Dogg the Hizzouse-DJ

So apparently Snoop Dogg has been making a mixtape containing lots of nice disco and house tracks. There's lots of other mixtapes too.

Don't know if it's a sham or not, but I think it's funny nonetheless. I'm only a few minutes in his 'TEKNO EURO MIXX' but he picked a couple of very decent tunes so far.

wtf how does he find the time to make so many mixes. and it's refreshing to see a big name not jumping on the trouse train.

its a lot better than what i expected.

I saw him "DJ" live this past summer at Electric Zoo. It was nothing like this at all.

well you can tell by his style of hip hop in his early career that he was originally influenced by jazz soul funk and disco. it makes sense he would be spinning this genre since all it all stems back to those genres anyways

not a sham, or at least a very good one. there is an article about Snoop going DJ Snoopadelic in a credible Norwegian news outlet.

I'm going to be on the lookout for new sets then. Interesting to see what he's going to come up with in the next couple of weeks.

Considering I had zero expectations, it was decent with some good tunes. Though his mixing could use some work, but I'm still impressed

I'd venture to guess that hip hop artists like snoop dogg, nas, etc have more musical knowledge then any one of your shitty trance/edm djs

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Mar-20-2012 20:56:

^good point. wouldn't be surprised if he were fluent in ableton from production and then just learned to use it for live sets

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Mar-20-2012 20:57:

but don't put snoop dogg and nas in the same sentence you ignoramus.

thats true i was just trying to think of MCs that are popular and have been relevant from the 90s when hip hop was a new genre and artists were experimenting with different sounds.
