ultra phase 2..

..holy shit.

WOW. i am blown away. 7 stages and SO MUCH TECHNO. everywhere. i know candy ravers blah blah, but there is PLENTY of cheese that leads me to believe the carl cox tent, toolroom tent, etc will be enjoyable..

..oh. and FAITHLESS

I fainted... twice...

This lineup is intense. I really wish I was going this year!

Plus, they have a legit tent for the techno, aka the megastructure. Unlike the half assed Sunday school tent and tiny edcny neon garden. Def kinda sorta wanna go.

but yea im hyped by the man who got me into trance on the asot line up. mr van dyk... literally been following him since i turned 18 some millenia ago, from his days at exit to roxy to crobar... now he can barely sell out pacha... sad sad...

I dont think the flyer is 100 percent representative of timeslots.
some will be some wont.

all i see here is paying a lot of money and dealing with yolo tweens for maybe an hour to hour and half to see someone i actually want to see

this is usually my belief 100% with big festivals, especially ultra.

but there are SEVEN stages this year. with such a selection, the more underground stages are going to be (i'd think) a lot more filled with actual fans then teeny boppers.

i saw faithless at ultra the only time i went, in 2010. my favorite act. wowow!

what i don't get is that we post these lineups like they are some gigantic 'wish list' all in one festival many acts, but if you've been to one festival you've basically been to all of them. the themes might be different but the format is exactly what it is. granted woodstock isn't ultra, but the fact is you'll get a star studded list of acts pay an enormous amount and only get a tasting of each.

you could pay LESS to see what you want for MORE

and then i go and make a post about a european festival that cost an entrance that's a FRACTION of what it cost to go to a domestic one and no one cares to post in it. If done right, I'm sure those european festivals could probably equate to the same amount of money spent going to Ultra if you plan it right and probably get a lot more for your money out there production wise. i get it miami is easy, but it's so passe

I always park myself near the front left of the Carl Cox tent. There is always some room in there, and the candy ravers are kept to a minimum at that stage. There is no better festival techno experience in America, the sound quality and visuals inside of that thing are mind-blowingly good. And it's set against the backdrop of the Miami downtown and skyline. If you "do" it right, Ultra can be enjoyable. Just don't get suckered into going to main stage by anybody, the whole experience can take a 180 in the opposite direction by doing so!

in re: to ultra, your logic doesn't completely add up. most people are going to be going down to miami for the conference regardless. so the opportunity cost of UMF is only the ticket price. going to a european festival, although obviously better, requires a cross-atlantic flight, planning a trip in a country you've never been before and convincing at least a buddy or two to go with you.

i travel a lot so i'm not intimidated by planning something new that's far but you can't assume everyone else is on the same page/level.

to me its hell with all worlds of EDM cheese in one place. I rather spend and extra week or two on IBIZA then fit my $ into MIAMI's tight asshole for the two I'd live to regret

i dont assume, im trying to show the divide by shitting on a domestic festival if you haven't noticed the comparison in the other thread and in regards to artist already attending the festival, ADE has similar courses and seminars going on during it's festival.

either way im highlighting the fact that we should not always take the easy choice. i did ultra for 6 years in a row, im over it i get it, yall may think i'm salty but thats probably because you don't know where the saltyness comes from and that's from seeing the other shit thats going on in other parts of the world.

and please don't tell me you can 'do it right' for ultra, the fucking clay hotel (hostel at the time) in the art decco district was charging us $79 per night during ultra, now it's fucking a minimum $150-175 per night.

You're talking about "doing it right" and then bring up staying in a hostel in the same sentence? Lol.

The secret is bidding via Priceline VERY early, like in August. You can get a quality hotel for a bargain if you do it like this, 150/night on the beach or around 100/night in downtown Miami (last year I got the Courtyard Marriott d.t. Miami for 95 a night, not the greatest property in the world but was nice enough and was convenient). It's obviously too late for this now, but something to think about in the coming years.

And yeah, the whole European thing sounds fun and all, but as a Florida resident, why would I go through all of that hassle just to go to a music festival when I have Ultra in my backyard? The lineup is stellar, don't think there's much disputing that. Just stay away from the main stages and it'll be a good time. And there's a reason why there's so many Europeans in Miami during WMC -- it's because it's bad as fuck down there that week. People act like Miami ain't shit just because it's a domestic locale, talk about taking it for granted...

dude i'm happy you have ULTRA in your backyard but what the peeps are talking about is something you missed to grasp the point of that ULTRA has noww popped its bubble, so welcome to the square. now step da f*ck out of it

I can't even complain about this lineup. It's awesome and there's something for everyone...but then again when has Ultra ever fucked up majorly?
