Amused Clinton is amused.

You know, I have relatives and friends in Serbia, including a family member who was in the middle of labour while Belgrade was being slightly inconvenienced by being bombed, and they still like Clinton better than Bush

Why would I listen to a foreigner, let alone a god damned serb, on what they think about my president?

Lol. You would like him.

And DOMA, and DADT, and repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, and didn't inhale (why would he lie?).

I liked it when Jerry Lewis was vice president, and Jack Benny treasury secretary.

Haha, who doesn't, really? Among foreigners, that is.

My point when I posted his pic, however, is not that he was either the best or the last president, but Democrats are so photogenic!

So... two bullshit non-issues and a repeal of a bill that nobody could predict would have caused such economic issues?

Not reason enough to call him a bad president. Might as well say the Lewinsky Scandal was a real issue.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Jul-16-2013 22:30:

Who called him a bad president?

I think the one you quoted? I dunno, maybe it was sarcasm.

Weight has nothing to do with it.

it's bandied around a LOT but i have yet to see an analysis that illustrates the connection between GS and the financial crisis. THIS paper argues that the fundamental part of GS often characterised as repealed (the separation of lending and investment banking) remained in place after other parts of GS were repealed?

i would genuinely appreciate your input.

I don't have the macroeconomic chops to offer you even a respectable opinion; my understanding of the provisions of the Act is probably myopic, but I am of the school that stripping long-standing regulation from banks = bad. And besides, I did a quick peek on who wrote the paper you linked and found this little gem:

quote:
He was a Rockefeller Republican before becoming a Reagan Republican.

STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!

Why don't they elect Generals as president anymore?

Because it's a very bad idea. Trust me, I'm South American

Eisenhower was a great president. Plus checks and balances prevent any kind of leader turning into some kind of warlord or dictator.

Checks and balances are great, you're right, but they're all too weak depending on the circumstances, and you can't take them for granted.
