Exclamation MP3 ALARM CLOCKS - Never wake up on the wrong side of bed again!

Have you ever been woke up by a generic ALARM TONE??
It starts off the day on the worst note in my opinion.
So I went and searched the net for an alarm clock for me PC,
and I downloaded about 6 of them and found this one to be the best, the "CITRUS ALARM CLOCK". ( http://www.ornj.net/software/citrus/download.html )

If any of you want an easy to use program, and hate that generic alarm you may have in your room, the this ones for you
Start your day any way you want, I have about 1000 MP3's to choose from

Cheers,

I just stick a cd in my hi-fi, set the time and it automatically plays in the morning and I've got over 400 cds to choose from.. much cheaper!

Posted by DJ CLUSTER on Oct-01-2002 10:17:

Technically this one would be cheaper as MP3's are free, and so is the Alarm Clock!

This suxors, but I have to head to work, frikkin 6:15 am.... bah

P.s. While I'm gone, make sure to keep that "What are you listening to" thread going!!!! LMFAO!!!

My sound system doesn't play CD's anymore I wake up listening to a local news station

You can also just set a scheduled task on your PC to play an .mp3 at a specified time every weekday.

Posted by Bernd_Gradish on Oct-01-2002 13:47:

Hmmmm... nice program but I always listen to Mp3 when I am going to sleep and the CITRUS Alarm Clock just opens up Winamp and plays a track in the same volume I was listening before. I need something which pumps up the volume, else I wount hear it

*EDIT*

Ah i found the FADE IN AUDIO option Hrhrh it works Great TOOOOL

Now I will get up with a banging MEGAMIND - TAUB 2002 mix everday

Nokia does the job 4 me

Posted by whiskers on Oct-01-2002 16:57:

shit, this is awesome!! i'm gonna set it up so that it wakes me up tomorrow morning to Weigner--Thus Spake Zarathrustra!!!! that'll be funny, i can already see myself being confused as hell "where the hell am i??? what the hell is going on???"

ROTFLMFAO

too bad that when you listen too often to the same tune while waking up, it gets stuck in yer head and gets annoying even when you listen to it

or i can have 7 different alarms set up :PPP

lol
would be nice to wake up with armin van buuren - communication 2

Haha, sweet post Cluster. I have one of those cd alarm clocks, but it's from when they first came out and the sound quality blows. Now I can use my pc and winamp with it's quality EQ set-up.

I've been using -=WakeMeUp=- for the past year or so. Simple, but very dependable.
You can wake up to MP3's, or CD's. It's much more effective when you have your favorite song wake you up on a set of 12" subs, instead of a dinky little alarm clock.

i agree jim_rage.

but a question, does it run off of the window's clock time? cause that time messes itself up often. I dont want to set my alarm on here, and have it wake me up an hour later

also, does it activate your computer if it's in a "sleep mode" type of situation?

Posted by ali92 on Oct-01-2002 20:27:

Is there any way any of these can be set so that it plays a different track every day? I don't want to wake up with the same track playing EVERY morning. I want to set up a kind of playlist thingy where only certain tracks can be played but, I don't want to know what track will play because I don't want it to have a pattern (I don't want every Monday = this track and every Tuesday = that track or every 1st of each month = this track and every 2nd of each month = that track). Is all I'm looking for is something that will play a random track that I like that I have at a specific time every so often.

Posted by DJ Chrono on Oct-01-2002 20:32:

you can set this citrus thing to open a winamp playlist.. so just have the playlist set on random, and there you go!

i use chameleon clock to wake me up with an mp3 or its selection of tones. its time doesn't mess up like the windows one because it syncs itself to the atomic clock in various locations you want it to.

.,..

I conducted an expirement and it turns out this proggie works off of windows clock.

anyone know a fix for the windows clock?

I just sync to the time server once a day, even though I leave my PC on 24-7. I often find that my watch keeps MUCH better time than my PC! My PC loses several seconds a day and I HAVE TO sync it up to the time server. Here's an EXCELLENT FREE PROGRAM to sync your clock either automatically at certain intervals or one time: http://www.boulder.nist.gov/timefre...e-computer.html
It doesn't need to be installed or anything, just click on the EXE file, update the server list (read the manual for this) and you're ready to go! If you want something simpler, go to http://www.worldtimeserver.com/ and download Atomic Clock Sync, another free program. This one installs and is bigger than the other one, though.

If there's a way that you can have your PC turn on automatically via timer, have the alarm clock set to start with Windows, ready to "go off". Now, set the boot-up time to 10-15 minutes before you want the alarm clock to play your track (if you want to wake up at 06:00, set the boot up time to 05:45 and the alarm time to 05:59).

Posted by DJ Chrono on Oct-01-2002 21:13:

I was just thinking that.

I did an experiment, and the alarm DOES NOT make your cpu wake up from sleep mode.

I think there would be some kind of software, or scheduler within windows that can do it though?

Posted by DJ Chrono on Oct-01-2002 21:39:

HAHahhaa, i did it..

You dont need an alarm clock program (someone already said this earlier)..

all you do is go into start> accessories> system tools> scheduled tasks.

then you make a new task, select it to open your mp3 or winamp playlist or whatever you want, and set it to play at the exact time, what days of the week you want, when to auto close the task, and you can set it to WAKE UP THE COMPUTER FROM SLEEP MODE to preform the task.

accompany this with the http://www.worldtimeserver.com/ program so you're window's clock stays in line, and your good to go.

this way I dont have to listen to the blarring loud fan of my computer when I'm sleeping, as it will be in sleep mode.

Posted by DJ Chrono on Oct-01-2002 22:55:

oh no.

I have it all set now.

At 6:50AM it will play "Hyperactive - Tanz br Derchen"...
this is the perfect song to wake up to.. 165 BPMs flying in your face, with some old guy singing, and the bass turned up full on my 8" floorstanding sub (beside my bed).

If you have never heard this song, go download it or watch this great flash video (which is hillarious): http://www.rathergood.com/vid
