Cool Global Gathering review....

Well, all in all, it was a good event. I had fun, though I always seem to expect something grater, but for the price I think It was good.

I'll start off by saying that I was one of the first peeps to arrive ( event though it was like 10:15PM allready 15 mins late ) and the event hasent started yet, I thought there would be a tremendously big queve, but that was not the case, as obviously, people like getting to this things LATE, so it seems to the promoters since the best acts werent up till like 1:30 AM. But I'll get to that later.

There were two open air stages, and two , what it seemed to me like warehouse rooms. But it didnt matter to me. As I get in, I start walking around in order to see which stage is which and get familiar with them, thats when I find and meet FOX, Pat, Fredz and JayD & Trance Control. I also met quest 4 sunrise and his friend Anthony .
Well, we went to the Egypt stage, and there was the Tranceport cd by Oakenfold been played , it was nice hearing it out loud, since we all know, great classics, but we didnt go to hear a CD been played.
^==

so we went to the Hawwaiiiii ! which had a problem and started like 2 hourse late.. .. some good progressive house afte it though. We stayed there for like the whole time.

Jimmy van M was great, really I didnt like this guy, but the set was superb, im not that much of a prog. guy, but Jimmy hhad my moving.

After it was Sandra Collins, who I thought would pull of more of a energetic set, there were some neat tunes with neat effects, but I found it too .. mellow ? .. I didnt feel it.

As the time for George Acosta approched, the place began to feel up, not packed but filled, thankfully there was space to move around and dance. Like expected, he threw a hard trance set, played some good stuff, my favorite though was that Push - strange world (?rmx ) .. but then he played Jurgen Vries - The theme ( dumonde rmx ) .. Although I hate this tune, but Dumonde rmx is at least better then the original , and played loud it sounded good. Well, I have to say I expected more from George Acosta, he can do better

After him, it came Tall Paul, who started playing at first some housey tunes, moving rapidly to some good trance, too bad he messed up with the needle or w/e happened that made him stop one track all of the sudden and start from 0 ! .. great tunes though. I wanted to stay for Tall Paul, as he was playing more of the stuff I was digging for, but Edgar V was coming at the other stage, and what a set it was. After it , I was able to shake hands with the man " Edgar V" and took some pics with him along with the TA crew, with whom by the way I had a great time ! ! ! ! !.. nice meeting you all ! ! ! .. hope to meet up with you guys again FOR SURE !

The low downs were .. everytime I had to move from the Hawwaii to the other places, I had to go through that D&B room, which looked more like some .. I rather keep my opinions for myself hehehe ..

I was expecting lot more people.
TOOOOOO MUUUCHHHH FOOOOOOOOGGGGG WHEN EDGAR V WAS PLAYING !!!!!!!! ... they over used the foooogggg machine on that room. hehehe .. Well, I left right after Edgars set, missed Stryke, heard it was good... Im wondering how was Tall Pauls and what tunes he played.

LESSON: BRING EAR PLUGS ! .. crap Im killing my ears hehehe .

The lighting was good in my opinion, the soundsystem I found it good, though looots of bass at times .
Now I guess we'll have to wait for ULTRA, which will be the big thing ..

Whats up with CANDYLAND 7 ? LOL ! ! !

Be Cool!

WHAAAAAAAAAZUP!

mmhh. the party was nice. SO MANY KIDS THOUGH! I felt like old there, and leet too TA r0x.

I will start with the people I saw.

Jimmy van M:

I thought this guy would suck since he's a bedrock DJ. The first 1/2 of his set was horrid, I was like sleepinG zZZzZ but then I heard so nice progressive tunes with some kind of melodies (specially that long tune at the end!). He was not that bad overall, just not my type of DJ.

Sandra Collins:

After hearing all sorts of comments about Miss Collins, I was like expecting somewhat a shitty set, but then again, I was surprised. The set mixing was good, the sound was good also. It was like the follow up to what Jimmy left. Good for her that she actually showed up and mixed a great set!

George Acosta:

Saw him at Ultra3 last year, and I can barely remember. I knew this guy plays some hard trance (GODDAMN SO HARD! that my ears were bleeding and screaming) that will make your brain die He played great tunes, and this is what I remember

Driftwood - Free Loader (Green Martian Mix) <-- EVIL
Cosmic Gate - Raging (Flutlicht Remix)
Cosmic Gate - The Wave
Ferry Corsten - Punk (Cosmic Gate Mix)
GA - The Reaper
Mag - Taking Over Space
Jurgen Vries - The Theme (Dumonde Remix) <-- Cheesiest Tune of the Year!

and many other, I just cannot remember or know. JayD and Freddy will tell you more about this :P btw, there was a tune that was SO FUCKING HARD! I even looked at Jay and my face was like WTF!? LOL!

Tall Paul:

OMG, this guy was wat I needed... and finally he gaved me what I wanted. hehehe. I loved the flanger omg! I`m such a flanger whore and he raped it to death

Some tunes:

Driftwood - Free Loader (Green Martian Mix)
Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth (Airwave Remix)
Warrior - If You Want Me
Body Shock - Rock This House
prolly 2 more tunes. I just don`t remember, too tired!

We left him to see Edgar, but the guy was really good.

Finally,

Edgar V:

I knew he was gonna be blow the roof off. His set was short that guy before him was so shit, that I think he should have had both slots

he played:

Umek - Gatex (Tiesto Mix)
Mauro Picotto - Taub 2002
Methods of Mayhem - Drunk In Chicago
JamX & DeLeon - Mind Made Up (Instrumental) <-- thanks
Enmanuel Top - Turkish Bazar (Reeloop Mix)
Marco V - Echoes (Marco`s V.ision Remix)
Armin - Sunburn <-- OMFG!!! this song made neck and arm so sore this morning
Riva - Time is the Healer (AvB Mix)
Matt Darey - Moody

prolly a few more tunes I don`t remember also. mmh someone can help maybe ?

I was waiting for 'Guide Me God' to be played but I guess it would have fit cheers for all the help mr. V! see you soon again

Overall. The party was good, too many kids but we had our own vibe!
cheers to: tcFan, JayD, FLOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX! (we finally partied!) heheheh, fREDZ! (we will see again for PvD), Mike (your dancing is so cool and glad to see u again), Felipe (thank god you found us at the begining cuz it would`ve been hell later on! finally we met !), Anthony (aka mr. Tank, good to see you again. Marco V and PvD will own!), Steff (glad to see you again and that you had fun. prolly we`ll meet at marco v if u go), also greets to the guys from ClubPlanet I believe where with u. I also met a TA which name was John (I believe) and his TA name I didn`t hear well... Tell me who r u here! nice meeting u btw.

^Edgar and Me.
-

^Steffy, Edgar, Me, Flo, Felipe and Fred on the bottom.
-

many greetings,
xxx
Artur/f0x

HAHAHAH!!!!!!! my full review will be up sometime tomorrow. too tired for it now. fucking 11 hour bus ride back to tally

but was it worth it? YEP!!!!!!!

Posted by PatMcGroin on Dec-02-2002 18:03:

alright here's my review....

fox, tcf, jayd, and i went to chicken kitchen before the show....such good food! we also met up with fredz there. so we stayed there for a bit and watched the fsu-uf game...btw GO NOLES!!! GATORS SUCK MY BALLS!! HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA sorry, i had to
^=== Jay, Flo, Fernandy, Arturo, and Fredz

...after dinner we went to grooveman and just listened to some tunes before heading on out.

now, on the way over, i was expecting some kickass tunes, you know riding with tas and all. but wtf tcf??? NO TAPES????? JESUS!

anyway, so we get to the place, after getting lost, damn tcf, LEFT LEFT LEFT!!!!! na buddy, i'm just playing with you. so we finally got there, following the big lights and all, and we drive up and see all these KANDIKIDS!!! oh yes!!! fun!! KANDIKIDS! rolling ass kandikids that i want to beat with a baseball bat! some young ass kids there too! but whatever, we were leet as hell! tas own all!

so we got in really fast, THANK YOU EDGAR!!!!!!!! and grabbed a timetable once we could. now nothing great was going on, so we just walked around. outside, where we walked in, was the hawaii stage, and it was a nice setup. outside area, palm trees, beach balls, air matresses (WITH PILLOWS!!) and nice lights! you could just lay down on the air matress, grab a beachball (put your feet up), and look up at the sky and watch the huge lights. it was nice. we actually all did that for about 30 mins, which was nice and chill.

Hawaii: ==^
next to the hawaii area, there was the africa area (which was inside) and was all dnb. i liked the setup of the room, inside, warehouse, nice lights, kickin bass, and a nice big ass mirror in the back, but it all seemed a bit too much like halloween.
Africa: ==^

next you came to another open air stage, japan, which had some nice lights too, but that was about it. the stage was pretty far back, and the smoke machine to the left of the stage was insane. way too much smoke!
Japan: ==^

once you walk out of the africa room, you see in front of you the egpyt warehouse room, which i liked a lot. nice floor to dance on, nice lights, but again, stage was too far back, and too much smoke.
Egypt: ==^
TAs@Egypt:

now onto who i saw:

prizm and eclipse: just saw a couple of mins of this, but it was badass. we saw it really just while walking around, but it was some good shit.
jimmy van m: i saw about 30 mins of him, and it was all to proggy for me, so i dipped and just walked around.
sandra collins: saw about half of her set, i liked the mixing a lot, but it wasn't high enough energy for me.
rick west: WOW! i love this man! again, only saw half of his set, cuz i wanted to see acosta, but WOW! rick west OWNS breaks! and i'm such a breaks whore. thank you rick!!!!!
george acosta: BANGING ASS HARD TRANCE SET! WOW! i loved every minute of it! george really had me going! i know punk is pretty old and played out and shit, but george, THANK YOU for playing it! it mad us all go soooo nuts!!! the only thing i didn't like too much was that breaksy song. i love breaks and all, but george you technically switched it up on us perfectly, but the crowd wasn't feeling that too much. shoulda just stuck with trance.
tall paul: i'm sad i only got to see half of his set, but he was doing a nice job! well minus the one major fuck up where the music just stopped, was that his fault or not??? and of course that one dirty ass vinyl that was cracking like crazy! still good job paul!
edgar v: WOW WOW WOW WOW! edgar, you blew me away! such an awesome set!!! the set seemed to go by so quickly though i guess thats what happens during a great set. i mean when it was over i looked over at jayd and was like "half an hour, thats it?" and he's like "nope, that was an hour." i still can't believe it! SUNBURN KILLED ME!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU EDGAR!!!
stryke: eh, we heard like two tracks and then dipped. toooo tired

OVERALL: EXCELLENT EVENT! i would most definantly go again next year! they had some technical problems like during edgar's set the treble just went away, and stuff like that. but overall still excellent! the only things that pissed me off, $5 for a bottle of water! WTF?? ITS NOT ULTRA!! and all the damn kandikids. uneducated dumbasses.

EDIT: THANK YOU ALL FOR AN AWESOME PARTY!!! NOW THATS THE WAY TO CELEBRATE A BIRTHDAY!!!!

Ok, I have finally gotten around to my review. The neighborhood was shady as all hell and I remember just praying that when I left my car, I would not return and see it sitting on concrete blocks. So, me and Anthony get in and they are playing hip hop. Uck, but they ended soom and then we saw Arturo, Jay, Fredz, and the crew so we hang out and catch Jimmy Van M. I personally dont give two shits about him and now I don't give three shits! Boooooring!! How anyone could subject themselves to a night of that is beyond me. Then we saw Stef, Tony, and that crew so I knew I would be splitting my time between groups. I saw AK1200 a little before Jimmy Van Horsecrap and he is a badass. I have always loved him, he is the king of NC, but his MC sucked ass so I left. Then Sandra Collins came on and she started slow, but she progressed and turned out a good set. I have seen her before and she is good, but I bit robot-ish (no interaction, doesn't acknowledge crowd). I saw a little of DJ Rap too and she is still a FOXXX. Sexiest DJ alive? I think so. However she had the same MC, so I left shortly after he opened his mouth. I did run into a guy I used to party with back in NC though, what a small world! Then Acosta came on, despite what anyone says, I like him and he did pretty well. Pulled a huge crowd too. After that we caught the end of the Spacemen set and they are crazy. They do a love show dressed in alien suits and they'll have a dancing alien and one that is out in the crowd, scaring the SHIT out of the e-tards, LOL. I was sober all night, but I can see they would be insane, shall we say in another state-of-mind? Then it was Edgar time. Banging set, but only lasted an hour. I never saw Arturo go as crazy as he did when Sunburn came on. I cant even imagine how he reacts at a packed PvD show! KEEP YOUR DISTANCE! You are liable to get trounced upon! All in all a great night! It really flew by since we were not confined to one area. There were alot of e-tards sitting in the middle of the dancefloor and that was annoying, but I kinda expected that. There was this one guy though, GeeeeeSH!! He was a dark-toned black guy and he had his shirt off (remember Jay?) and he was laying down in the middle of the crowd. I mention his skin color as relevent because it was, obviously, dark out and no one could see him so he kept getting stepped on. It was funny because someone would would step or jump on him and he'd react and then lay right back down. It was crazy. Well, that was my time... now on to ARMIN!!!!!!!!!!

sorry Mike I love Sunburn so much, and I had no idea that Edgar was going to play... when I heard him mix it in I was like. OMG I will die!

He may have been tired, but laying down in the middle of a dancing area. C'mon, common sense says HELL NO. You have got to be on something. If he would have gotten stepped on once and moved, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt, but it was repetitive. E-TARD!! E-TARD!!

i don't think he was on e. i think he was just dumb! e doesn't get you to lay down! e fucking gets you excited and gives you energy and shit! why do you think e-tards dance like they do? FOR HOURS!!!!!

Yea I dont think he was on E either. I too think he was tired, that kid was dancing hard for hours.

Review(third time)

ok, third time's the charm

I tried posting last night twice and it said there was an internal server error

anywho, the informality of the whole thing just took me by surprise. Casually walking into George Acosta on the bar was something rather nice(ok, so I'm still a huge acosta fan, so sue me) considering my thanksgiving day was crap. I was stood up twice, first on thursday, then again by that same person on friday so I tried to take my mind off that by playing a bit of Counter Strike(oh yeas, I got banned from both servers. they thought I was cheating. It's not my fault they don't know how to friggin dodge a mad rushing, shotgun carrying player. So much for trying to cheer my self up with that...)

total pump pwnage

some more pump pwnage

George Acosta

I was looking forward to his set, as well as Edgar V's. Thinking, ok, George was going to go hard ass, then Edgar would mellow out the nighit made it awkward. It was far from that. We started with Jimmy Van M. He played a kickass set. After a quick call to a friend, trying to figure out which DnB act would be the best to see, there's a song in the background playing(duh) My friend asks, who's playing that, and I read off of the timesheet, Jimmy Van M, to which my friend goes ballistic. Turns out he'll be playing in PR soon. go figure

So he finished his kickass set, then comes up Sandra Collins. She was ok i guess. Nothing impressive for me. Sorry S. Kinda breakbeatty at first then progressed through her time frame. Then comes the first of the two I was looking forward to seing, George. He opens with Raging. Not that I haven;t heard that quite a few times at Level, but it was a good start. As he dropped track after track, he came up to some remix of Silent Heart(which he's been playing for a while now) That made my night. That version is sooo bad ass. Other songs that hadn;t been listed he played were Ykooza - Cocaine(Dj Wag Remix) and Dj Sakin & Friends - Thunderbird. Heavy HEAVY songs. Arturo's reaction to Acosta was everytime he'd mix in a new song, in the particular way he does, with every new base line, Arturo just went nuts(not like when Edgar V, but at least he looked like he enjoyed himself)

the two tracks i was surprised he played were Punk and Taking Over Space(wag mix) Rather oldies there, but none the less, very well planned in his set. One thing I did notice, was he got eeeeveryone there going. Not Jimmy not Sandra got that sort of reaction from the crowd. Very nice set. Than came the surprise of my night. Edgar V!! And yes, I remember the guy laying on the floor. I bumped into him a few times. oops, didn;t see you with all these people arround me dancing duhhhh. Not a good place to try to chill out on whatever he was on. he did have a certain facination for trying to be creative with anything he could get his hands on(glow sticks, beach balls), and the worse part, not being very nice about it. E-tard, or whatever, next time, watch it, or Fox just might step on ya when a good track is dropped

After George played, we stayed for a bit to catch some of Tall Paul's set. Don't you just hate it when you're way into a set and then, out of the blue, the needle skips Paul looked pissed off, but quickly regained control of the set. Very cool indeed(I would have probably freaked out or something jeje)

So, we get to the Egipt venue, where Edgar is about to start. The fact that 1 i was expecting a chillout set by edgar and 2 I had no clue track-wise on what edgar played and 3 he was even louder than George made his set quite impressive. I had heard Edgar play a few times at Space, but this has to be the best set I've probably heard in a while. Plus the fact that I finally got to meet Fox and Jay(after 2 years, 3 maybe?) made the night just incredible

Flo, I hope you enjoyed your birthday

next stop, Candyland 7? /me raises pinky up to lip ....rrrrrright

Armin at maze? I'm there
