Question on Jan Johnston - Am I on pause release

I know it was released on 2*12 on perfecto but recently it has been given a proper release on single disk on perfecto as well. Just wondering if anyone know which mixes is available on the single disk release. I'm desperate for the original (taste experience) mix!.

Read This!

Searched and found this thread from a few years ago

Have been trying to get a copy for ages of Jan Johnston - Am I on Pause (Original Mix)I already have the 2x12 vinyl release on perfect and found this q+a newsletter with jan on http://www.trancearchiv.de/artists/...wsletter_06.htm

quote:

[Q:] I am looking for Jan Johnston: Am I On Pause. Has it or will it ever be released?
[A:] This track received a low key vinyl only release by Perfecto over the summer 2002. Here's the official blurb from Perfecto's website:

"On July 29th Perfecto release 'Am I On Pause' the latest vinyl only offering by Jan Johnston, the voice behind Chicane and Freefall.

Remixes include the anthemic Trailer Trash vocal mix which layers angelic whispers over rippling synths finally erupting into a majestic peak. Oliver Lieb goes sub aquatic with his soothing laidback deep groove. Pete Lorimer picks up the pace with his 29 Palms mix, drenched in warm keys and typical of his glossy West Coast style. Finally it's over to the lazy Slowhouse Vox mix to cool it back down with its mellow beat and ambient chill."

[Q:] What happened to the original club mix? As far as I know it never got a formal release. Any info on this? Will it ever get release?
[A:] Don't know, sorry. Perfecto can probably answer this as they now own this track.

But after searching http://www.discogs.com I discovered there appears to be a release including the original mix aka Taste Experience mix as featured in Oakey's Home Sydney Essential mix in january 1999

Any info much appreciated

Jan Johnston - Am i on pause" lyrics

Running down my street
Heading for the void
Just to catch the moment
You stole the
Love so fragile
Will it break
Into a million pieces
Will you forsake me
Will you forsake me

Time is an infinite place
But it may pause
The tide still falls
My time is an infinite space
Am I on pause
Or will I fall
In love again
In love again
In love again
In love again

Thought this place was lonely
Still i breathe
A new sense of freedom
I me as
I walk forward into the light
I look it into aqua
And feeling so high
And feeling so high

Time is an infinite place
But it may pause
The tide still falls
My time is an infinite space
Am I on pause
Or will I fall
In love again
In love again
In love again
In love again

got the pm, cheers.

if i can find the little git, i'll be happy to sort you guys out with the mix. i've jus tmoved house and as you may or may not know ive got a fair few cds (in the excess of 2500) so i need to go through them all. its definately there somewhere!

i'd rather not sell it though, as im a big collector myself and i've never parted with any of my music yet.

i've seen the cd appear on ebay about twice in the past year, so it's obviously sought after, keep your eyes peeled!

THERE IS NO TASTEXPERIENCE MIX

the original mix does exist on a limited 2x12"

the release that is listed on discogs as having the original mix included is the mix that oakie played in 1999...how do i know? easy...i asked the guy who has it and he gave me the thumbs up...

yeah, theres some mislabelled mp3s which say taste xperience when its really just hte original mix

Posted by Narcissus on Mar-08-2004 15:57:

It's labeled that way because this track is better known as
Taste Expeirence feat Jan Johnston - Am I on Pause
Glad someone brought this thread back to life.. I'm still after the original mix ...at least a clean 320 kbps mp3 would do well

Oh and for thos who cares... Taste Experience is coming out with their new album scheduled to be released this month on Blackhole!

Wow, this is fantastic news! Taste Experience is proper trance, indeed!

I remember "Am I On Pause" from Oakenfold's Havana Mix, simply amazing. Would kill for a full rip.

Did the promo CD ever turn up at all and can anyone help please? I have the Superstar 10 track promo if anyone wants to trade?

Posted by keithos27 on Jun-01-2010 00:24:

and what was all that talk about taste experience being the production team behind the original... any truth to that?

Posted by montana on Jun-01-2010 07:04:

in the oakey 99 emix tour thread here, someone who posted under the name "mainline" was very helpful and posted some good info but on his first post he posted this

and i have no idea how he thought so but after that, oakeywhores got into their heads that the original mix was infact a tastexperience mix, or produced by tastexperience when fact of the matter was they had nothing to do with the record.

Posted by keithos27 on Jun-01-2010 13:05:

lol thx. i can only assume it's napster's fault at the heart of it, hehe.

Is it wrong for me to seriously dislike most of this artist's body of work? I've heard too many awkwardly phrased verses and absurd choruses coming out of her mouth to really take her seriously.

To each their own I guess. =)

Incorrect! If I dislike her then you must and if you don't, I will force my opinion on you.

Get with the program.

yeah i'd say jan's been involved some very cheesy songs in the past, but take into account the vocalists that were around in mid to late 90s, the tracks her vocals were laid over (and thus the jocks that promoted those tracks) and it's pretty obvious why she became "famous."

for the most part i've not been a fan of jan's "work" post 2003/2004 (with some exceptions).

I don't think I like anything with Jan Johnston's vocals on. I was going to make an exception for BT's Dreaming, but those vocals are mostly from Kirsty Hawkshaw.

as much as it's easy to rag on jan, i like some tracks with her on it. flesh is still awesome, submerge - take me by the hand. beechbreeze, with all of it's hilarity and cheesiness, tomski - love will come again.

but it is noted that even though i really like flesh, the version i usually play out is an re-edited version of the tilt dub.
