Smoking ..umm..something

I'm just curious, any other Russian techno fanatics around here? Those guys sure have some awesome stuff coming from their local DJ's but virtually no one knows them..I've compiled about 60 different tracks in the last year and I must say 40-45 of them are great which is a big percentage considering I've just gotten them randomly off Napster making searches like "Russian techno", "Russian trance", etc. BTW does anyone knows any sites in english on Russian techno..I've never been able to find anything great.

hmm...maybe cj slater can help ya out. he's from russia and is an avid pvd fan, so he might know a thing or two about the scene over there.

drop him a pm bro.

Well I am russian,
what do u mean by russian trance, trance produced by russians?
or do u mean trance sounding backgrounds with russian vocals?

Posted by toxa on May-14-2001 03:42:

groups like russian size, are an example of groups using trance sounding backgrounds and russian vocals

Posted by DJ Teknique on May-14-2001 03:59:

i am russian too, and i don't know a lot of russian trance but i heard a song with a russian chick singing and music was chicanes but produced in a different way.

By russian producers man...
Btw did u all try Radiotrance - Serenade from that myplay account?

Posted by Some One on May-14-2001 04:29:

Well I'm Russian too, and the only russian trance I heard was from PPK, I found them on www.mp3.com/ppk

I would recommend the song "21 century" and the amazing "Resurection" <--- very wicked tune

Posted by strategist on May-14-2001 04:55:

Cool PPK

I also have the PPK, tunes some good ones there. Thanks for the replies I'm going to try to get some tonight and check them out, I probably have tunes by all of them but I haven't been able to identify more than 3/5 of my Russian tracks..many of them are named "russian techno", "teknik", and stuff like that.

I have the Radiotrance - Serenade, thanks anyways!! Another very nice track.

I'm not really sure what the tracks I'd have to try to find out about those obscure DJ's that produced them..it's already a feat in itself to get the tracks!!! I suppose I have some of all, probably some producers from elsewhere using russian vocals and locals (russians) using russian vocals. Who cares anyways, most of them sound great!

Posted by breakdown on May-14-2001 12:27:

yep.. PPK is russian..
and then theres..
Outerdrift.... well i don't think the dude is actually russian? but he lives in moscow.. *shrugs*
http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/3629/

and then theres this russian live act.. not trance.. but whats their name... errr....
i can't remember.. ack..
breakbeat house?

Question No one else?

No there Russian trance/techno fans? Anyways, I just wanted to say that later this week (probably Saturday/Sunday) I'll post a list of all the Russian techno/trance songs I have identified in a new thread, let's see if we can get anyone else to chip in some more :-) .

King

Well, I'm originally from Russia myself.
I can say that Russian Techno is AWESOME.

My favorite Russian Techno band is "Russki Razmer" ("Russian Size"). It's great, very melodic and upbeat, and the music really fills you with energy.

As someone here has mentioned, it IS true that most of these songs have Russian vocals in them. If you'd like to research this further, I recommend the following songs (you can find them on Napster, although the spelling might be a little different):

Russki Razmer - Ves Etot Mir (This Whole World)
Russki Razmer - Kto Ego Ubival (Who Killed Him)
Russki Razmer - Zvoni (Call)

If someone's interested I can attach one of these MP3s to my next forum message so that everyone can listen. I have lots of them.

Check out the following mp3.com pages also:
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/170/russky_razmer.html
(Russki Razmer's mp3.com page; unfortunately there's only 2 songs, and they're not even the best ones)
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/187/atmospherec.html
(Atmospherec -> melodic trance)
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/41/ppk.html
(PPK -> dreamy trance... no one needs to introduce PPK)
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/165/radiotrancemp3.html
(Radiotrance: they write very fast techno-trance).

Posted by TraNceFaN on May-17-2001 02:59:

They got a nice album out i think about 4 months ago with quality remixes of the original songs init
I'll be on later

Posted by DfromK on May-17-2001 05:59:

You talk about Techno, not Trance.
I'm from Russia too and I never heard good trance music made there.
The only one very-very nice compilation I got is "Usilok" but it's deep-house.

Hello!

I think the Dr. Bronx and Natali you are referring about is Dr. Bronx and Natali - Izo vseh sil , nice tune :-). As to myself, I'm not exactly Russian, I was born in Venezuela, but 1/2 my family is Russian, or rather most of of them are Russian Jews, from the Ukraine..I've lived all my life in North and South America, currently living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Thanks for the Ruski Razmer links Eugene, I was missing one of their tracks.
