Be Cool! Discogs - do YOU use it?

I was wondering how many of you know of and use Discogs' online database. (www.discogs.com)

Discogs is an online database of (mainly) electronic music releases; vinyl, singles, albums, EPs, LPs, etc. It's a great resource for finding release information as you can search/sort by all sorts of criteria (artist, label, release, catalog #, etc). It also allows you to create an account, after which you are able to add releases or labels, manage an online catalog of your own collection of releases, and much more.

It's a huge community of people like us, all contributing to a central wealth of information, very very useful.

you can check out my vinyl collection here:

So who here uses it?

I use it but I don't have an account with them...

At my local record shop I can make special orders and I use discogs the find the exact release of a tune I want with the catalog#.

Im gonna prolly start using it, it looks good.

i've been using that site for a very long time now. its very useful, especially when you are trying to get info on some older hard to find releases. RMF tried to convert their site to something like that as well.

rememberance, some of those records on your wantlist aren't hard to find at all.

Posted by Jellow on May-18-2003 09:19:

Posted by Ghostface on May-18-2003 09:30:

Not really. I use it every now and then to check what specific mixes are on a release. For that it's good.

Posted by JohnSmith on May-21-2003 15:51:

Doh, the site is down! and they still haven't approved my pending records, and it's been over 10 days.

uhm.. okay i lied, it's working now. but at least i bumped this to the top, put in more trance records!

Posted by skip on May-23-2003 09:33:

It's not very big (or very complete), but my mantra is "quality not quantity."

discogs.com is great, just a shame there aren't more ppl working to verify releases and labels. I've had a few releases added, still waiting for "Pornstar Records" to be verified

discogs is my lover

absolutly awsome site. i use it all the time.
for electronica its 1000x better than www.allmusic.com

its been my homepage for quite along time

Posted by dknylady on Oct-20-2003 20:21:

yup, used it for quite a while now!
i like to see what past releases a label has released , and it's also good to get some info on track dates.

so far i have 38 releases contributed, plus i have like 7 or 9 in my pending list. they really take forever to add your tracks, and it's a pain in the ass also. (this one moderator, romirio, wouldn't approve anything i added , he would question everything i wrote, and he had no idea what he was talking about. like i would just add information ignorantly?? but the good thing is you can actually add comments to the box for each track , and other mods approved my songs after i kinda got annoyed with romirio there).
