Question Do I have a problem?

I'm addicted to Trance and Ambient- In the form that I REALLY NEED IT. I NEED to hear it 24-7. I DO NOT like much music outside of Electronic. If I don't have Trance, I'm not happy. EVERY TIME I go outside, I NEED that MP3-CD player with spare batteries because I NEED to ALWAYS be hearing it. I can't go much time without it (unless I was in school taking a test or something) because I get miserable, bored, and sad. EVERY TIME I leave my PC, it's ALWAYS downloading. I queued up over 10 GB of music to download from a DC hub. I'm on an endless cycle of download, listen, burn to CD, get off HDD. I NEED a girlfriend who LOVES AND IS ADDICTED TO the music. No one else would do because I don't get along with many if they aren't the same. Why? Because they don't understand what it's like to love what all of us at TA love to the point where they CANNOT be without it. That is TRANCE. They say "How can you listen to that crap? There's often no singing.". I can't take it when I get numerous remarks like this thrown at me. So, who else is like this?

Well OK, any GIRLS that are in the same category, age group, and area as me and are on here? I can't afford to travel outside of the country for a while so, leave that out. Also, even if I could afford it, what if I go there and the relationship doesn't work out? That's my main focus of this thread now that a few people has replied. My post was a bit "too "generic and broad" because of course everyone on TA is addicted to Trance! It's just that there aren't many girls on here that fall into that same category. If there are, they're half a world away. Where can I find someone that's close to me that falls into the above categories?

Posted by Kirby on Jan-31-2003 15:52:

How old are you? I'm 19/f from NH... you're right, I don't know any girls around here either who are addicted as I am. I think the best thing that connects people of like interests is events. For example, my friend had me go to a swing dance club one night with him, how else would I have realized there is a large swing dance community in southern NH...go to raves and ask around

Yes you have a problem do us all a favor and go check yourself into a mental hospital.

Just kidding, i think we all have that same addiction.

Yeah, easy to say. I also want to produce too. I'll be applying to Drexel Univ. soon (btw, I'm 17 (1985-09-17 23:10 UTC-04 (US EDT)), m, Philadelphia PA). Anyone know what courses are good for me to take, since I want to get into Production/DJ-ing? Also, another problem after that is MONEY. Decent DJ equipment EXCLUDING amplifier/receiver costs at least 3000 USD total. Plus, vinyl or CDs. I can't work full-time AND attend a univ because there's not enough time in a day for both, unless you do what I was saying in a "sleep" thread days ago. If I did that, I wouldn't perform well in EITHER. I'll be walking around like a damn zombie. Who wants to get 3 hours of sleep/day just because they have to study and work? If you do that, your tiredness takes over and all of what you "studied" for isnot in your head. Plus, when you work, they don't want zombies who talk and move all sluggish due to lack of sleep. Also, ANOTHER thing I never brought up on here: I'm visually impaired: COMPLETELY bline out of my right eye and I have glasses but, they make me see "far" (>12 cm) things. When I read, I can't use the glasses. Will laser surgery take care of this?

So, what's the best route for me? When I attend Drexel, get a part-time job and study more or attend Drexel and work full-time but, get WAY less sleep (2-5 hours, 6 at the VERY MOST) and be forced to study less?

To those of you who have read this far, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I'm very interested to see the responses now...

My body runs on trance - If I don't fill my daily quota, I start to shut down, and lose proper functioning ability, and I fart a lot.

Our brains THRIVE on the good tunes, and when we take em away, our brain says "Hey, what the fuck!? bring back the tasties! or else...BIG TROUBLE." and then ol' brainy starts making you feel bored, depressed, bloated - whatever it takes to bring the tunes back. Diahrea is always Brain's last resort - so if you're hosing down the bowl a lot, chances are you aren't listening to enough trance or you ate too much yogurt.

Its no wonder that this is www.tranceaddict.com, and not, www.heyithinktranceisneat.com

Oh, and what do you tell people who say to you "Oh ya, I completely understand how much you can love so much trance, cause I love Justin Timberlake SO MUCH!"

why can't someone like timberlake as much as you enjoy trance?
Ok bad example, but i know people that live and breathe hip hop for instance. ali if you plan on being an audio engineer you better start appreciating all music because i doubt your first job is gonna be PvD's sound tech.

by the way i actually clicked on that second link. doh

hey, as many said before, you are absolutely normal & getting into the deep meaning of trance... addiction that is!

i am also addicted, i need trance or generally music wherever i go whenever i want it to be available! i can't work without music! i wish i was taking the exams at my university with music!

some wise guy said before, "become a dj and chicks will be all over you". Well, i can confirm that (as long as you are a good dj!)

go deeply dear friend and you will discover more things about trance. As for the chicks that you want around your age that don't exist near you and exist in the other side of the ocean and blah blah blah... all i have to say is... TEACH THAT BITCHES THE MEANING OF TRANCE! GET THEM INTO THE SCENE BY INTRODUCING IT TO THEM! make good track selections and you won't be dissapointed!

Posted by DJ_Skaya on Jan-31-2003 23:27:

Try to go to a club that doesn't play trance music but has good crowds. I find that dancing with a good crowd, no matter what the music, is fun, and will give a new respect for a kind of music you previously disliked.

Also, try to do an atheletic activity with some friends that doesn't have the music there. Exercise is helpful in kicking other addictions, such as smoking, and can take your mind off things.

*EDIT* What got me started as a DJ was that it filled my trance addiction. Now I listen to more kinds of music, which makes the trance more enjoyable because now, instead of it just being "another trance tune", it's like hearing those first trance tunes, the ones that sounded so amazing at the time and got me hooked.
