Artists who truly represent the sound of trance

In your opinion, who fits your definition of the purest trance artist?
IMO, I think Ralphie B and his Midway productions are. Rarely is there any cheese(if any...I have yet to find a track that is considered cheesy), his meldoies are nothing short of amazing, his sound is very unique and all of his productions are hits.
What about you?

Posted by djRyan Jonathon on Mar-04-2003 22:27:

agreed

Definately Ralphie B is real trance and no cheeze....i also think armin productins/remixes..r real trance, tiesto pro/remixes...pvd pro/remixes.....i guess thats why they be numero uno though..

Sasha and BT were the two main producers accredited to exploring and defining the trance sound.

I think Corsten, Armin, and older Tiesto stuff are the epitome of the Dutch trance sound. Paul van Dyk and Steve Helstrip (aka The Thrillseekers and Hydra) best respresent the uplifting sound. I think the Euphonic label, especially Ronski Speed and Mirco de Govia, are the newest big trance sound out there.

Airwave(L-Vee) is the definition of trance IMHO. Every time I listen to one of his tracks it just gives me that trancey feeling.

Let's see, "Cheese Trance" in short, commercialized, mainstream, way overplayed tracks. Furthermore, 99% of cheese trance is Euphoric vocal trance, ie. ATB, Alice Deejays, DJ Sammy --Heaven, Armann "The Brainchild", Ian Van Dahl, DJ Encore -- I see right though you, Cosmos -- Take me harder vocal or non vocal mixes, both are way overplayed everywhere, Foggy, DJ Gert, etc. Usually played at 130-137 bpms and is becoming more like pop music sometimes. Cheese trance is can also include rmx of many popular previous rock songs, pop songs, and yes even heavy metal, ie. Ozzi Osbourne's Crazy Train Rmx, and even some classical remixes made it into cheese category like Fur Elise, Symphony #9 JMO.....

All the people named are true representers of the sound especialy Airwave, but i also think Sonorous represents that sound as well. I mean this guys tracks are exceptional. I like the wahe can use vocals and make the song better than making it worse.
