URGENT petition for L-VEE not to quit music industry

Reading Stipsy's earlier post. Yes it is true that my friend Laurent (Airwave/ L-vee + many other guises) is thinking about chucking it all in. He's fed up with the current climate of the dance music world. Downloading music is not only crippling underground dance labels but now it's starting to affect the producers. It's heartbreaking to see your hard work and toil be given away for free on the internet. His last album was available for download weeks before it was for sale in the shops??? Like us, he has to make a living, pay bills etc. It also costs a lot of money to keep the studio up to date as technology moves on. How can you do this with your income crippled by free files sharing???
I believe that there will be an answer to this problem as I am always forward thinking. I'm trying to make Laurent see this. He is one of the most influential Trance producers currently around. He is a true genius. We would be lost with out him.

Please sign this petition below to show what support he has from his loyal fans. This will make him realise that he has many friends and fans that will support him. This maybe be the support that he needs for him to see the light. (www.john00fleming.com message board)

(Cut and paste this and post it on as many message boards as you can and get people to visit this website sign this petition.)

John

Laurent Veronez is amazing, his productions are second to none, he comes under so many different guises, each tune is beautifully crafted.
Ive NEVER downloaded a tune from the internet. I always try to find what im looking for in a store.
It would be sad if he chucked it all in.

Posted by CygnusX on Mar-14-2003 13:23:

I was hoping for someone to do this

Posted by DJ D-Man on Mar-14-2003 14:31:

Unhappy

OMG!

It would be a disaster for trance music if he would quit. Laurent sure in one of my favorite producers...

Don't flame me , but

L-VEE IS A COWARD!!!

I can't belive what he's doing . so childish....

Posted by sooper on Mar-14-2003 16:11:

I signed.

I NEED his music.

Skydriver makes me spooge & cry everytime I hear it.

Posted by SYNthSRI on Mar-14-2003 16:37:

IMHO, he's copping out!

You want to stop producing/remixing music just because you feel you deserve MORE money? It's not like he is NOT making ANY money. Bah, he has made some great tracks, I've bought few records that were made by him...and it would definitely be a loss of quality music, still one shouldn't stop what makes thousands others (hell even himself) happy!

just my $0.02.

Posted by Kinuvan on Mar-14-2003 16:51:

I'd sign the petition but for the anti file sharing rhetoric in that post.

Posted by barryfigiel on Mar-14-2003 18:13:

I signed it too...

a trance world without L-Vee... doesn't even bare thinking about!

lateRZ,

barryfigiel

First he blames us for ending his career and then you want me to sign this petition?

[insert middle-finger smiley here]

regardless of his veiws on filesharing (which i dont happen to agree with) he still makes some of the best trance around. stop being whining arses, so what if he dont like filesharing.... i would rather put up with his veiws and still have amazing trance than not have his trance.

I agree with Mosh_Man and SYNthSHRI.If your income from your music is what decides whether you continue to produce music or not,I'd have severe doubts about your motives as a producer in the first place. If you were a really passionate producer with love for the music you make, you wouldn't drop your producing just cos you don't make as much money as you could. And don't tell me he can't afford to produce anymore cos of mp3s.He has earned lots of money already, and his mailbox is probably swamped already with tons of e-mails from labels waving a checkbook in his face to get his signature. And even if that wasn't true,if he was really in it for the music,he'd get a job on the side like so many other producers out there have, and continue to make music as much as he could.

If Laurent considers to stop producing cos of these events, then I'm not gonna stop him. It'll be a great loss for the scene of course,I loved his productions just as much as anyone on the forum.(*torontotrances it*I even got his autograph on a piece of vinyl)
But if this is all it takes for him to call it a day, then I'm suspicious of his motives for being in the scene in the first place.

I like Airwave, but I think he is just interested in making money, because of something HE said, some time ago:

"If you make a copy for yourself with no intention to sell it, you don't have to be considered as a thief coz music is universal and you have the right to listen to it though."

And now, he blames the mp3s for being the reason for his "poverty"??? In my opinion his statement makes absoluteley no sense, because mp3s are the best promotion! They have to realize that!

before you call him a coward why dont you realize your a hypocrite (stopped sharing music off your server cause of link stealing). l-vee stopped cause hes pissed about no one buying his music and distributing it all on mp3s...hey id be pissed too. if hes a "coward" then so are you.

Posted by m0sh on Mar-15-2003 07:00:

wookieslut , that's diffrent
I never said I stoped I said COULD
but that's doesn't metter , cuz of the link stealing the server was overloaded and crashed , now sri did hard work and bringed it back.

That's not nothing like that , I'd still give stuff for people that like but it won't be like what was before........it was so meny (ABOUT 1GB) and you could view everything , so it got to all sorts of other places - now that not good for me.
oh yeah , I'm an hypocrite because I gave you stuff for free so long well I don't think so - it's not like I'm dead

like i said in the other 2 topics about this, start releasing cd singles and maxis adn ill buy your music rather than downloading it, not every guy wants to buy vinyl!!!

I download lots of tracks and buy everythign i like that is availible on cd. I now have over 900 cd singles and maxis, but i cnat buy airwaves stuff if he dosent release it on the format that i choose to use.

Lost language cottoned on about a year ago when they axed their cd releases. Soon after, they made cdr's (not pressed with cover) availible from the hooj website, which i now buy 10 copies of every release, just so they will keep the production going. I even offered to buy whatever minimum amount of copies they would need to sell to keep them releasing the cdrs. Money isnt a problem for me, but if LL had continued with vinyl only releases, i would have been burnign the rips to cd, resulting in no monye for them!

I'll sign once he decalres that there will be cd releases in the future. If someone who is in contact with him, could pass this message on to him or put it in a place where it might be seen by him, id be most greatful.

I hope he dosent decide to give up, but there are alot of poeple out there that want cds aswell as vinyl!

i think that airwave/l-vee is a great producer of trance music, but i dont think that mp3s are the problem of the music industry.

the problems are the a&rs and the record companys...

they only want to make the "fast money" and do no support to any producers or acts.

they sign every f***ing producion if the producer is a good friend...but nobody will buy this in the shops cause the listeners hear that this is a bad production or just another copy of a track that has been released 2 months earliyer.

there many other problems such like this in record companys...ungerground & major labels.
