digital cameras
Yeah, so I suddenly had the urge to get my hands on a half-decent digital camera...
As of right now, I am looking at the Kodak CX4230 2MP ($294 at Futureshop)
here are some sample pics taken by the camera:

I don't really know much about digicams, so I was wondering if you guys could give me some pointers, or perhaps recommend a good cam for $200-$350

i dunno too many people goin in for kodaks but the canon elphs are the best to get (IMO)
I have a Fuji 2680 i think it is, and except for dark situations, it is awesome, and probably good in the dark, just need to learn the settings.
I have the SONY DSC-P31. I think it's one of the best digi-cams in the 2.1 megapixel category. Others with the Canon S-200 have also commented on it. Picture quality is great in all lighting situations. Only down points I could say bout it is the digital zoom which diminishes the picture quality, and that there's no audio on the mpeg recording function. The LCD display is top notch.
You can get it at:
Costco for $380 + tax. (w/ carrying case + accessories)
Best Buy for $350 + tax. (w/ accesories)
Lates...

i have the canon s100 digital elph. 2.1 megapixels.
its a perfect little camera. it takes quality shots, and its tiny, so you can fit it in your pocket with ease. highly recommended for a first digital camera.
steve.
I have the canon s-200. I really like it! Very nice quality shots and is very tiny, just like the s-100. The only complaint is that I can only shoot a 10sec video (320x240) and 5sec (640x480). You can find a used one on ebay for about 200 USD.
I would like to upgrade to the s-230 where you can take up to 30sec (640x480) and 3min (320x240) and it is 3 megapixels.
Steve's Digicams has great reviews, so just check out all the cameras in your price range.
okay, I'm thinking about buying the Canon A40.... any objections?
Canon S30 3.1 Megapixel $380 Canadian over EBAY
Heres a sample pic of my cat http://www.spyderman450.com/~infern...cture%20009.jpg
go for a Canon G3
or anything by Canon.
you can't go wrong with Canon when it comes to cameras.

*taken with a G1*
cannon digital elf s230
BEST one ever
well guys, thanks for your help...
I just won an ebay auction for the Canon A40

Sample Pics
Im gonna be buying a digi as well.......i want to spend around $500, also id like to get one that takes good pictures in the dark, as well as being smaller in size. MORE SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!!!
If you wanna spend around $500, then look into the Canon S400.
If you were not strapped on cash i would recommend atleast go for a 3.2 MP camera, i just got a Sony 5 Mp camera DSC V1 about a month back.
a good quality cam.. Canon s230 3.2MP for under $500 its really worth it to get something 3MP and up if you plan on ever having prints made.
Olympus, Fuji and Canon are making the best digital cameras right now. Olympus and Fuji seem a little more high-end and Canon has a more affordable product line. Check out http://www.dpreview.com for detailed reviews and information... Apparently Canon has announced 20 new compact models for 2004 in an effort to grab more of the market share so that may cause prices to drop in the not-to-distant future.
IMO stay away from Sony since most of their models only take sony memory sticks. You'll want something that uses SD (Secure Digital) cards or Compact Flash (type 1 and 2) - they have the largest sizes available, the most promise for the future and a wide variety of manufacturers competing for your dollar.

I lubbbb my canon
i ended up gettin the Pentax Optio S 3.2 mp on Boxing Day for $399 during that FS sale ..
I had a cheap kodak. Sucks ass.
I'm looking to buy a Cannon A70 or A80 in the future. I like to have all the little options available, and its in my price range.
I have a pentax optio S and it's one of the best digital camera that I've ever owned. It fits into a deltoids box. It has a 3.2Mp pic quality, 3X optical zoom, it's the lightest camera out there, it has movie mode, it can be used as a sound recorder (in the case you would want to record picture descriptions), battery charger, takes SD cards (now these things come in 1Gb), etc... The list of features is huge!

There's nothing that says prices will drop, but we can hope! With 20 new camera models, I would expect a broad range of prices to be covered... |
