Pro DJs that use burnt mp3s @ gigs
do u know any pro dj that uses burnt mp3s @ gigs? i personally dont think thats cool since they have access to so many tunes "legitly" so i think its sorta the easy way out, and u aint helpin the scene either..anyone?
well thing is...if they dont get the mp3 from the ARTIST...then they shouldnt spin it unless they buy it! thats the bottom line.

Scumfrog gives out mp3 of his new work on his site as a promotional tool and encourages people to burn it and use it.
I'm definitely going to buy 'Music Revolution' after listening to the free download.
There's so much trance out there to buy. Sometimes theres a song that isn't really that good and isn't really worth the money to buy it but it might just fit so perfectly into the set your spinning that you HAVE to use it just that once, but you might never use it again.
Of course then again, you could argue that if it's good enough to put into your set you should buy it...
also don't forget that a lot of DJs own rare vinyls like Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar or whatever and don't want to wear it out so they burn it to a cd and use that

As promo that is great but i feel like whooping CDJs asses who burn all their tracks that i spend my drug money on :P
i still cant understand a pro dj spinning mp3's?
i mean by very nature the track is compressed, which means less sound quality than .wav ( CD ) and of course vinyl?.
i dont care what 196kbs crap you try and string along, its still
compressed which is worse quality than wav or vinyl.
somebody please explain this too me!
I agree if they buy it then they should be able to make a copy.... cause vinyl is harder to take care of, but then again.. why not mix with vinyl the feel is so much better, but i guess for CDDJ's then hmmm.. i dunno.. this is a hard one to answer.. but if they did buy it then they should have the right to spin it...
Mp3 DJs are just poor asses imo
Deep Dish downloads mp3s to use in their sets.
Now before you hit the reply and start bashing, as I know some of you
would looove to do.
They download mp3s that are sent to them by artists and record companys
that are released while they are on tour and doesnt have possibilitys
to pick it up.
So they use it as a temporar matter until they can get the cd/vinyl.

theres a 'final scratch' tour on atm here in AU. for those unfamiliar with final scratch, its basically a vinyl that you can load mp3's into.
there was a interview in a local mag with a guy called Mark Dynamix (pretty big here in au) and he was giving it the bigups, saying that he had a friend in germany who would "email" his latest tune over to mark and he'd be playing it that night.
now this sounds all happy and joyful, but as someone already mentioned.. quality? surely. even 320kbps mp3 is compressed and doesnt sound as good as vinyl or cd
Hold up, a vinyl mp3 disc? Please elaborate.
I know... at least 5-6 professional producers / deejays using mp3 ...
the only problem I see is... deejays and producers giving these private files to releasers (happens when it pops out on the net !)...

IMHO it's okay if Amatuer or Semi-Professional DJs use burnt mp3s (as long as they cannot buy them because they are no longer available or they cannot reach them).
BUT pro-DJs (e.g. PvD, Armin...) shouldnt do that, because they like get the tracks anyway legally as Promo CDR or Vinyl acetate.
BUT PPK kinda got famous cause Oakenfold played them from CDR (as he or someone else gave it to him from their mp3.com site)
So this is a pretty contradictory topic.

why are you guys talking about this like it is so bad, you guys download mp3s too, whether you play it in live sets or not, you have it before it comes out too
If djs who use mp3 of a song have the right to sound it because they buy it on an other and original support or because they have permission by author there is no problem. If it isn't so it's illegal and they aren't Pro dj's...

djs that get paid to play out music should pay the artists (i.e. buy their tunes)
i don't think any pro dj illegally plays mp3s, only wannabes do that
btw if you own the vinyl its ok to make a backup cd and play it
ppk was alright before it got slaughtered
