so basically its war then.
there is no way saddam is going to leave, Bush knows this, he's just throwing in a bogus ultimatum

Posted by Mental Exodus on Mar-18-2003 02:15:

Be Cool!

Sadam said somthing like " we are prepaered to fight the US anywhere and will go down fighting" Does this mean that theres gona be 1000 terrorist attacks on US soil?

Posted by ProDiGaL on Mar-18-2003 02:21:

the term terrorism seem to have blurred a little since 911....

nah..no terrorist attacks. there would have already been some, we all knew there was going to be a war - even saddam knew he'd get bombed.

wtf. this saddam guy has been terrorizing people since i was a child and remember that name being talked about on the TV. he needs to go

>JM<

so does Bush

I think that this ultimatum really did reveal what this war is all about : it's not about weapons of mass destruction (otherwise they could have used Blix's 12 key disarmement tasks to give Iraq one final chance to disarm) it's just that they've wanted Saddam out of Iraq since the Gulf War and this whole Sept 11 / paranoia about terrorism finally gave them the opportunity to do it.

I'm also liking the Iraqi response to the ultimatum:

quote:
Sabri said Bush, not Saddam, should be the one to yield power.

"He should go away from the presidency and let the Americans lead an ordinary life with other nations, not a life of aggression, a policy of aggression against other nations," Sabri said. "This policy has brought about disasters to the U.S. So for the U.S. to live properly with the world and for the world nations to live in peace, this crazy man should go."

Gold.

The thing about his reputation was just being sarcastic.

i belive the ultimatum is just. Saddam is the one that needs to leave power because he has been the center of this conflict for three american presidencies (Bush sr, clinton, bush jr.) that is why i belive it is absurd to ask bush jr to leave. someone who has been in power only three years can-not be the one blamed for "This policy [that] has brought about disasters to the U.S." furthermore bush may very well end up leaving power in the next elections, sadly the iraqi people dont have that choice at their hands

Posted by cosmicstar on Mar-18-2003 15:17:

Bush is going to attack anyway.....

well actually they just want to wait till it is pitch black outside

Weather and the moon are very important when you start a war, did you know that they wanted to start D-Day a week before they actually started it because of the bad weather...

Posted by magik_ss on Mar-18-2003 19:40:

This will not be good for anybody...
Bush is not listening to the world...as usual

Wait you mean they wanted to start it when there was bad weather or it was postponed because of bad weather? I do know it was postponed a couple days becuase the seas were too rough.

Posted by Mental Exodus on Mar-18-2003 20:29:

Be Cool!

the 2nd.

Due to heavy winds the sea was too rough and so they postponed the attack with a couple of days

And I believe this will happen also with Iraq, they will wait till the moon is gone so it will be really dark outside.

As tragic as it was, Tiesto14 (believe me when I say that I was close to tears when I saw it) September 11th was an isolated case that had absolutely nothing to with Iraq. The US had been looking for an excuse to go in and oust Saddam for a long time, and it was the paranoia following the Sept 11th attacks (whether this paranoia was justified or not) that finally gave them an excuse they could sell to the American public.

Besides, having seen the horrors of warfare for yourself, I should think that you'd be more sypathetic to the innocent civilians of Baghdad who are about to go through the same thing - only in Baghdad the war will go on for much longer, will cause much more destruction and will result in possibly one-hundred times more death. Do you not think that this is a situation at least as tragic as the events of 18 months ago?

yes i have sympathy for innocent Iraqis..however i feel this war is just inorder to remove a tyrant who is guranteed to be a danger to his own people and a growing threat to the world.....u may not agree.....

We tryed for 12 years to use diplomacy...so the blame falls on Saddam.

And dont predict casualties of war when u do not know the outcome....u will just look foolish as you did when u claimed he had no WOMD.

Let me ask you a question....would YOU of removed Hitler if you could go back to 1933??..even though you know hundreds of innocents would die?...i would LOVE to know if you would....my bet is that you would not of....but lets see
