The laptop thing is Final Scratch. Since PVD travels constantly, it's a nice little investment in his part so he doesn't have to lug around so much vinyl/CD's with him. Something to consider if you are someone like him who travels so much.

As for the poser crowd, I'd say it's the people who just show up because it's the hip thing to do. "PVD is a big time DJ, let's go see him" Miami has a lot of people like that unfortunately. What's trendy, what's the most popular, people will show up. Goes for mostly anything; i.e. sports

"Ohh look, I was at PVD last night. Touch me"

I said nearly the same thing a couple pages back and i totally agree. I know he doesnt cheat because i had the awesome oportunity to sit there and watch him the whole time at a previous show in my city

I've seen him up close using Final Scratch as well; he doesn't cheat.

No, that sounds about right to me. It's probably one of the main reasons the all-ages show really didn't go down very well, because the crowd just wasn't with it. The audience, the DJ, and the atmosphere all feed off of eachother; if you're missing one component it doesn't come together right.

You could tell this was the case because 95% of the teenagers there obviously had no clue how to dance to the music. They either waddled like penguins to the beat or tried to booty dance.

I'm not trying to be high-and-mighty, just explaining why the night wasn't what I expected and why it didn't seem to work so well.

Absolutely. The *only* bad part of the whole night was that everyone kicked up a suffocating dust cloud because of the location. It took the wind out of me and made dancing the whole time a bit tiring. I was completely whipped by the end of the night, and so it seemed were a few others.

+1. I agree 100%. Same thing with Ti�sto...my goodness it's like oh Ti�sto...lets go see him and then I'll be all cool and shit. Big DJ's bring a poser crowd...which is

It's bad exposure.

I mean if he did cheat his mixes would be flawless and they are not flawless. One of the reasons i respect him so much is because i know hes not cheating

That's the lamest thing I've ever heard! There are no rules on how to dance to trance. To be honest, I'd rather see booty dancing than cheesey liquiding or raving, and I'd rather see penguins than totally high people dancing to music that's not there, totally offbeat, like if they have their own tune in their head. If you download video sets from all over the world, different cultures dance to trance differently. The Germans kinda do a little polka to it and in the Latin American countries, they add their bit of Latin flavor to it.

In my honest opinion, it looks even way more "poser" coming to a club in pajamas with a pacifier, attempting to rave.

You have your opinions. I have mine. My point is that dance music shouldn't exclude people just because they dance differently than you. This is a cultural artform that brings people together, and they can dance and have fun in whatever way they want to.

Also, no need to disrespect the kids @ space because they are the ones that'll keep the scene alive. I would have loved to seen you dancing when u were 16. Remember you were that age before

At 16, the only thing I was doing with my feet was football, hockey and running from the cops on a warm fri nite!!!

Points well made. I agree. There are certainly no rules to dancing. I don't think there are or should be. I'm not attempting to say there are.

But you can tell if people are comfortable and flowing in a club or at an event. It is a fact is that the all-ages event was predominantly attended by people who either have not experienced the music very much (or were doing so for social/image reasons). This is because there was a 21+ event right after it which everyone in that age grouping went to instead. It wasn't like usual all-ages events where everyone is mixed together from start to finish.

All I was trying to explain was why the night felt awkward and incoherent for me. I definitely should not show scorn for people because they have not experienced that culture, and if I came off that way I apologize. I understand that new blood is necessary for the scene. But having such a high concentration took a lot of the spirit out of it for me. It was tangible.

And yes, Mel I sucked at dancing when I was sixteen.

dude. i know you want to stereotype the young group as the ones who should be looked at as sorry and not cool enough. but take me for example. i'm 18...i've been listening to EDM since i was 8 and i'm really hardcore in love with it. i take my EDM very seriously, even into a profession in the future. and i'm not lame, now am i damon? i know how to dance to the beat and not to mention WHISTLE, right??????????????

Also, I'm not referring to the style of dancing. Of course it's silly to say there's any right or wrong in that, because dancing is a free artform, an expression that each person can elaborate on and shape in their own way. I'm completely with you there, and it's one of the things I love about EDM culture.

I was simply talking about the comfort and ease of the audience, and how that worked against the experience as a whole.

It was still a good night, don't get me wrong. But this was one of the reasons that it wasn't nearly as good as I expected.

I know I had a bad beginning of the night too but in the end we all had FUNNNNNNNN cuz everyone left way after 5 am ;D

Come on let's be real... The Paul van Dyk all-ages wasn't as bad of a crowd as some of the others all-ages events I've been to.

At the Tiesto at the bay... it was all cool until Tiesto got there, as I was ravaged by middle-school kids stomping on the seat, I almost fell off and injured myself... so I had to move to the front portion where there weren't any seats.

The 4th of July Blast had those old ladies who were really drugged up kicking up dirt in the air to a beat that didn't exist.

Paul Oakenfold at Virgin Megastore had a bunch of those wannabe ravers in pajamas.

Point being, you're never going to find a perfect crowd. So what there's a few posers and teeny boppers, get over it. Just have fun... find ways to avoid those people who are pissing you off.. the parties are pretty big and you can always get away from a spot you don't like.

If you're going to put dancing restrictions, age restrictions, and dress restrictions on people participating dance music events, the scene is never going to grow. Of course, you're not going to get along with every person there, but make the best of it. Find someone you like to dance with. and most importantly have fun

i loved the all ages set more than the real party!!
