Only busy with themselves!!!

Dumb, dumber.....

Is this really a contest for who donates more money???? I think we should all RESPECT and acknowledge the fact that USA is giving at least a dollar towards the aid, and we should not be so critical of them!!! Thats like slapping US in the face for donating 30 million in aid money! How disrespectfull!

Interesting indeed. If we learned how they do this, many lives could be saved (pretty much the same way Japanese tourists - in Phuket, I guess - told people a tsunami was coming once the water tide changed... but people didn't believe them that much).

Its is now being said that orphaned tourists (2-16 year olds) are being kidnapped by gangs to be sold on the child sex market!
First they survive a tsunami and earthquake, the they loose they're parents, then they are kidnapped.... disgusting.

Posted by Magnetonium on Jan-04-2005 20:30:

There's only one thing I dont really understand about this terrible disaster. It says that the waves were between 20 and 32 feet in height. How much is that in meters?

32 feet is about 3 metres. But as Plastick says some were higher than that, though I don't know the figures.

I just heard about the kids that are being kidnapped and this is absolutely disgusting. I have heard of some bad things in my lifetime but this is one of the saddest things I have heard of.

32 feet = 9.7536 metres to be exactly

(1 foot = 0.3048 m)

Actually...the last decade Holland has been procentually speaking the country that has donated the most money. I don't have the link anymore but if I remember correctly America was only 6th or 7th. I know Belgium was also above America. Obvliously the 350 you are donating now is very well, just to be clear, I'm not complaining about that at all

Yeh I did you're right. 1 metre is approx. 3ft.

Posted by Magnetonium on Jan-05-2005 17:07:

Yikes, 10 meter waves ... thats not too bad in terms of what I expected these destructive waves to be (I thought they were somewhere 20-50 meters). I cant even imagine how much damage a higher wave would've caused. And I know tsunamis have higher waves than 10 meters in Pacific Ocean. It's so unfortunate that many people, when noticing unusually shallow waters and instead of running for the jungle and mountains they were collecting fish on the newly added beach and taking pictures of the waves before they hit them ...

Biggest tsunami ever was 580 metres.....wasn't it?

I saw more of that statement he made... the whole thing in context was about wanting the muslim people to know that we do care deeply and even though there are many who support those who would like to see us destroyed, we do not feel the same. Everyone is created equal and has worth as a human being. There are even pictures showing a young man in an Osama Bin Laden shirt standing next to the US soldiers helping him and those around him. I think most american wish more than anything that people wound understand, that even though we may have vastly different political ideas, at the core, we love people. Our hearts break when others are hurt, abused and mistreated. I really believe that most of us would do just about anything to help out our fellow man.... and it would have nothing to do with where they were from, what they looked like, or what their beliefs were.

Australia is a country of only some 20mill people or so, since the tusnami the people have raised 100million AUD and the government has comitted some 1Billion AUD. But as someone said this isn't a charity competition, respect to any person or nation that donates any money to help the victims.
I think even bringing up Islam in relation to freign aid is wrong, and runs the risk of turning it into a political exercise.
