Parker to Newcastle for 6.5M. Going to be unveiled in a press conference this afternoon.

quote:
"This is the club for me.

"I know that other clubs were keen on me, but as soon as I heard Newcastle were interested there was only one place I was going.

"I know some people say that Newcastle may have under-achieved last year, but they got to the semi-final of the FA Cup and the last eight of the UEFA Cup, and in my eyes - and a lot of people's eyes - this is still a massive club.

"The stature of this club is massive and I really have a high regard for the manager, Graeme Souness.

"He is one of the reasons I have decided to come here. He has been unbelievable in all this and so too has the chairman.

"I could have stayed in London and kept my family down there.

"Everybody knows about Spurs, but I have chosen Newcastle United. That says it all.

"Last season was really non-existent for me. I didn't figure much.

"But I did play at St James' Park in Chelsea's Carling Cup win and the atmosphere was brilliant.

"When I arrived in Newcastle last night the first thing I did was have a look around the stadium. Obviously, it was empty but it was still daunting.

"I know how passionate the Newcastle fans are and I cannot wait to play in front of them.

"I want this to be a big season for me as well as Newcastle and obviously the World Cup at the end of it.

"As far as England are concerned, I need to stay fit and need to be playing and after that I will just have to wait and see."

Fantastic news. He was Young Player of the Year last April, ahead of John Terry, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Wayne Rooney. A player very much in the mould of Gerrard. The Chelsea fans are gutted to see him go, which has to be a good sign.

Yeah. That's what I've heard about him. He's really good. I like him.

Still no mention of the fee.

Portsmouth fans are very happy, calling it their biggest ever signing.

makes me laugh, guy was just afraid of hard work which big sam would expect from him, now he has south coast sunshine, relegation battle & all, dont give a shit tho, we'll just laugh at his mistake when he fucks up again

Apparently it was because Portsmouth would offer him a 3 year deal while Bolton would only offer him a 2 year deal.

He joins ex-Newcastle players Griffin, O'Brien and LuaLua as well, and I think Portsmouth's French boss helped matters.

yeah can understand that, but he should realise that to some teams he's a gamble and should do what okocha & others did, take a 2 year deal, prove yourself & Stay for 2-3 more at least

Scott Parker to Newcastle for 6.5 mil.
Geordies rejoice? (I would)

Now I'm wondering what is Everton going to do to make themselves more competitive, because they need better players if they're going to have a hair's chance of surviving CL.

Posted by evil_bastard on Jun-15-2005 18:48:

Everton are in a dilemma, because if they spend money and lose their qualifier they could be in trouble financially, but players like parker and Forssell (their main targets) would help them win that qualifier. It's a sticky situation for the toffees! Think they'll have trouble getting Emre although Newcastle could have problems there as well.

Souness said in his press conference about Parker: "Players dont want to play in front of a stadium of prawn sandwich eaters. That is why Scott is here"

I'm delighted with the Parker signing, to hear Chelsea fans disappointed he's leaving and Arsenal fans angry that Wenger didn't go for him is great stuff.

Scott Parker, me lord.

Oh, lord, Scott Parker.

There's only 1 scott parker, 1 scott parker, he signed for the toon, and turned the yids doon, walkin in a parka wonderland

Some poor early efforts. I'm sure by his debut there'll be a full hymn sheet

Just read Newcastle and Liverpool are in for Saviola.

Also imo we should be going for Kezman, Kezman and Saviola upfront.

Posted by evil_bastard on Jun-17-2005 12:46:

The Saviola link is just from TeamTalk, they're always speculating without anything to back it up. Liverpool want rid of Baros and will need a striker and Saviola speaks Spanish and Barca want to sell him so TeamTalk have just built a story from that. They've linked us because we were linked with Saviola last summer I think by Sky Sports. He'd be a great replacement for Bellamy though.

Apparently a clause has been included in Robert's contract so he won't be able to play against Newcastle next season, either at St James' or Fratton Park.

Sky Sports are linking us with Porto's Benni McCarthy in a swap deal with Hugo Viana.

Wayne Routledge has joined Tottenham for 2-3M. I reckon they've got a potential bargain there.

Well, EPL is the most popular brand of footy around.

And I don't get much news on signings in other leagues.

LOL. No.

I get EPL and Serie A, occassional La Liga, plus CL.

I wish I got more Ligue Une and Bundesliga, but I'll have to settle for highlights for now.

What's a good site to keep track of footy news worldwide?

On other news, Baros wants to stay in Liverpool. Like I said before, he's good support striker and if Benitez keeps playing 4-5-1, he'll be relegated to bench as Morientes is better sole striker, maybe Cisse.

Posted by Michael19 on Jun-17-2005 20:53:

He is wanting more wages, greedy tosser. Rafa doesnt want him in the team. Hes will be 3rd choice striker, 4th if we sign that extra striker we have been promising. So he cant either sit on his ass doing nothing for a year or go to valencia or lyon.

I hope he pisses off. Cant stand him.

Posted by evil_bastard on Jun-17-2005 23:44:

Baros is a good footballer but he's not that good a player, if you get what I mean. He has the attributes such as pace, power and dribbling which can cause defences problems but his awareness is so poor and he misses a lot of chances. I can imagine he'd be a nightmare to play with at times because he runs about like a bit of a headless chicken.

He might become a good player some day but I think you'd have to build a team around him and he's just not worth building a team around. At a club like Liverpool he should only be a squad player because he's just nowhere near consistent enough. If he went to Lyon and got a regular game he could consider himself a lucky boy, but I hear he has turned them down. Sums him up I'm afraid.

Real Madrid want Inter to pay 18 million euro for Solari and Samuel...Inter have said no and if no deal is reached by end of month then its the end of that.

Robinho apparently is holding talks with Real officials in Germany

AC Milan have not yet captured Oddo as Lazio are being stubborn

Roma's Matteo Ferrari wants to leave and go to Fiorentina

Roma's Antonio Cassano looks to become a Juve player sometime this summer but Inter have also been linked to steal him away from Torino

Juve have failed in a bid for Benficas Miguel

Barcelona apparently feel that Gilardino is the man to replace Eto'o if he leaves.

Deco and Laporta

Luis Anderson de Souza, Deco, has signed a contract extension with the Club until 2010 and told reporters, "I always wanted to stay here".

The agreement was signed on Thursday morning by Deco and Club president Joan Laporta. It extends the original contract by a further two years and increases the buyout clause from 50 to 75 million euros.

Other offers

Deco stressed that he had chosen to remain at the Club despite receiving

a number of excellent offers from some of Europe's biggest names: "I had other offers but I never wanted to discuss them. I always wanted to stay here, and the Club wanted me to stay, so it was very easy for us to reach an agreement. I'm not going to talk about the other clubs and what they were offering me because that's not my style. The Club knew there were other teams that were willing to pay my buyout clause, but my wish has always been to remain here".

Building a winning team

Deco is the third member of the squad to sign a new contract, following on from Xavi and Dami, and he believes this is a sign that that the team is poised to achieve great things. "So far we have demonstrated that the team is good enough to keep on winning. These players are attractive to the best teams in the world. So it's better that they stay here".

!!Eto'o Vows To Stay
07/06/2005 19:07:00
Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o has vowed to remain at Barcelona in a bid to end the speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.
Eto'o was a massive success at Camp Nou following his move from Mallorca last summer, as he helped the Catalan outfit to the Spanish title.

"I can assure you that next season I will be at Barcelona, I can guarantee it because I am happy," Etoo told Spanish radio.

Thats what i mean, its not ALL about MONEY

Fergie lines up Jenas move

Manchester United are reportedly ready to bid 7m for Newcastle's Jermaine Jenas.

According to The Sun Jenas was far from happy when the Toon signed midfielder Scott Parker from Chelsea for 6.5m earlier this week.

And that has alerted Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who is a confirmed admirer of the England playmaker.

Jenas fits the bill for the new young team Ferguson is building at Old Trafford, although a striker - probably Real Madrid's Michael Owen - remains his priority.

Parker has arrived on more than double Jenas' reported 25,000 weekly salary and there is no sign of a new contract for the former Nottingham Forest starlet.

He did sign an improved five-year deal but that was 18 months ago, and now he reportedly believes he should be on nearer to what Parker is earning.

Let him go, unhappy at Parker signing, so does he want us to have shit players?

He did sign an improved five-year deal but that was 18 months ago, and now he reportedly believes he should be on nearer to what Parker is earning. ----- that just somes up heres here at Newcastle for the money, sell the ****.

Posted by evil_bastard on Jun-18-2005 11:45:

Robert Pires is being linked with a 3M move to Valencia.

The Sun are talking about the Jenas move, I don't believe it personally.

According to the Daily Mail: "Newcastle have emerged as front-runners to sign Portugal star Figo and have opened talks with Real Madrid."

I'm not convinced that's true and Valencia would be a better option for him anyway. But he has said he wants to come to England and it would give Freddy Shepherd the media attention he craves. He's a damn site better than most of the wingers currently playing in England and would still be good for a season or two,his wages are massive but he's available for free. He seems a different player to Kluivert whose hunger has gone.

Posted by Michael19 on Jun-19-2005 17:30:

Liverpool is figo's first choice, fairly obvious why. Madrid where willing to let him go for free this summer, but a since theres a bit of interest madrid now want money. Some random club in middle east are the only team willing to pay, he wont go there though as its a world cup year.

Liverpool arent going to pay for him and i dunno if any other team will, so madrid can either have him sit on his ass paying his wages for a year or let him go now, they will let him go.

I think he will probaly go to england. Nearly the end of his career, never played here, good chance to do so. DOne it all in spain so cant he him going to valencia.

As a liverpool fan i am not to sure, the chap is a diving, cheating ****. Its just going to get us hated. Hopefully rafa will sort that out.

Real madrids Samuel has joined inter on loan hasnt he?
