Age Of Love - The Age of Love

Pretty much sums up the meaning of the word trance.

But if you are talking about "todays" trance:

System F - Out Of The Blue

If you are strictly talking about the modern trance sound, I guess anything by Super8 or John O'Callagan goes. That's too bad, though, I wish people would pay more attention to the older sound and bring it back

Yeah, got to agree with you Atom-B. I love early stuff such as cosmic baby, dance 2 trance (we came in peace!), resistance-d, jam & spoon, the Ambush, effective force, skylab, sven vath's alliases...this was great music.

But i mostly miss the mid-90s trance. It was when that older hypnotically sequenced sound started getting more melodic and more "progressive", such as early LSG stuff (fragile, blueprint-1), Andy Ling, Arrakis, Humate, Cygnus-X, B.B.E., Escape, Jamez and many others, and labels like React (the mid-end 90s releases),Fluid and early Hooj Choons. That was IMO probably the best trance sound of all times but strangely enough, it was somehow underestimated and maybe over-shadowed by later more pure epic-stuff (e.g. Agnelli & Nelson, The Thrillseekers) and even later, the Super-Saw Dutch stuff (Gouryella, Rank-1).IMO when trance became purely "dutch" it somehow lost its elegance, not that there weren't any good stuff at all. It was just "to much(dutch)" some times.

Posted by RebeL9 on Nov-09-2006 23:03:

yeah Fluid and Hook. those were awesome. can't be compared to the stuff today. I sometimes wish that those new producer could use more elements from the old tunes. For instance. there is way too little of the good old TBR-303 in the trance of today. It's a shame.

Ok, ok enough. It's time to close thread once and for all!!! Three songs that DE-FI-NE "TRANCE-MUSIC".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1fu...related&search=

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4IN...related&search=

(This one is by Paul Van Dyk...i'm not joking!Well he is with cosmic baby though...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOLY...related&search=

This music is craaazy and brilliant...IMO trance music was the 90s equivalent of the 70s kraut-rock scene. (strangely enough both originated in Germany) and the experimental works of bands like Neu!, Can, Faust and Kraftwerk...Everything is there, metallic ritualistic drums, ambient psychedelia, robotic samples and trippy-as-hell chords, trance-music was trully pioneering !!!Just watch the third clip-"Cosmic evolution"(a classsiccc trance tune)crazy graphics alternating with sci-fi b-movie scenes. THIS is a "trance" video-clip,NOT a bunch of hot blondes moving their asses in front of Van Buuren!I still wander what happened to trance later-on? It was probably extermely influenced by THIS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc4F...related&search=

type of "euro-trance" (should we call it that?) and...you know what happened then...Even Ayla though is more inspiring in relation to nowadays trance!

Have a nice Friday night...!

Wow, nice finds, mate! Thanks.

actually the first version of Ayla - Ayla from 1996 or something is not as cheesy as the version which later became a hit.

Em... NO!!!!!! This thread is about the song that "defines" trance not another "best of euro-epic-trance tunes". This list so far looks like a compilation like EUPHORIA-36-The New "Fucking" Trance Experience. You get all the usual pop aspects mentioned..Push...Chicane...Orbital...Andain...Solar Stone...(zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i'm sleepingggg) and ofcourse this thread ended like another of these "my favorite epic trance tune between 1998-2004" threads. God , not even one thought about astral projection-"dancing galaxy" or something-(anything!)-different than the dutch/british/belgian stuff from the 00s(well ,except some usual suspects...)

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!Where is Dag?!!?!?Where is trance?!????

Gee....

I really got to disagree with you mister...this is NOT funny....Because...

Everybody knows that...

Dj-Sammy- "The Boys of Summer"

btw.

Ayla - Liebe

strangely remebers me to the theme of "The X-files" in some parts...

It's obvious that the question to the thread doesn't make sense because there really isn't ONE trance track that "defines" trance. So I'll just list a 2 top quality tracks that I've heard live that simply put me in a state of trance without the help of any drugs.

Solar Stone - Seven cities (classic)
Bjork - pagan poetry (Infusion mix) (amazing vocals + great melody)
