You're going to have to have those fingers crossed for a looooong time

Italy's group is tougher than it seems at first glance.

it is. but i don't think the states have what it takes to knock off italy or checks.

group c is by far the most strongest group out of all. argentina vs holland!!! i can't wait for that one, will definately try my best to get tix for it. revenge for that bergkamp goal dammit!!!

Germany gets an easy group despite being absolute shit since the 2002 Final...i guess that's what you get when you host the tournament.

England's group is easy...the football itself will be shit to watch (England are shit against shit, better against highly skilled teams), but they'll get through no doubt.

Groups C and E...especially E, are the groups of death. Look out USA! They're in for a tough one.

There's nothing like the World Cup.

Iran is actually in an easy group. Draw against Mexico and Portugal, win against Angola and with 5 pts, Iran probably goes through 2nd place.

mexico is a powerhouse
so is portugal
they have one of the best strikers PAULETA + ronaldo + figo + RC
mexico has Borgetti ... Carlos Salcido / Francisco Fonseca

Irans biggest star is
bayern munichs Ali karimi
hamburgs Mehdi mahdavikia
Messina's Rezaei
and some other european based players

i see no chance =(
unless the other teams underachieve

Actually, Mexico and Portugal's biggest weakness is their strikers.
The days of Blanco are over. Borgetti doesn't have much pace, but is deadly on deadball situations though. Salcido and Fonseca also suffers from consistency problem, IMO.

Pauleta and Nuno Gomes haven't done well in WC02 and Euro04. I don't see them scoring much in this tourney either.

Both Mexico and Portugal do have strong midfield that can lead counterattacks and Iran should be careful of that.

As long as Iran play tight defence and hit on counterattack, can earn draw against Mexico and Portugal.

The gap between high ranking and lower ranking teams are so much closer nowadays so anything is possible.

yehhh ...
this world cup is gonna be different

this is the only way
in my opinion ...one theory
Mexico has advanced from the group stage since 1986 but they too have to choke someday. They will choke in Germany bc there arent that many mexicans in germany to support them but we know the stadium will be packed with iranians. Most of iran players will feel at home, specially the stars (Daei, M.Kia, Karimi, Hashemian, Zandi) and will give theire all in the first match. mexico will be surprised

Next is Portugal, this one is going to be close since I believe that Angola will surprise Portugal in theire opening game. Why? Bc Angola is a former colony of Portugal and we all know how colonial countries play against theire former masters (Senegal vs France). This time though Portugal will at least draw against us but most probably win!

all the groups except for italys + arg. are pretty much open in a sense
with the exception of brazil
obviously going throu
so japan aussis will have a tough time

surprise of the tournament = ghana / Ivory coast

Actually England vs Sweden should be a dandy!

England 1-1 Sweden

Like it's always been.

i hate RONNEY SO MUCH

Imo England still has a difficult group. Sweden and Paraguay both have very good teams.

Hup holland

Group A
Germany
Costa Rica
Poland
Ecuador

Group B
England
Paraguay
Trinidad Tobago
Sweden

I dont think england's group is difficult at all, it couldn't have been better... T&B will be a joke, and paraguy is nothing special either...could be a tough match against sweden but its the world cup..they'll be in full form by then since Sweden is their 3rd game. Its also set up nicely since the winner of group B plays 2nd place of group A which should be poland...england vs poland for the semi's!!
England got one of the best draws in the tourny for sure.

meh, it'll probably just end in yet another draw. Their game in the WC 2002 wasn't that exciting. But what I really meant was Trinidad and Paraguay...let's be honest, England will beat them. They'll certainly trounce Trinidad and if they dont, they don't deserve to be in the tournament. As long as everybody is healthy (mainly Rooney), they're going to go far.

wah wah wahhh. You know, without England, there wouldn't be a World Cup or the sport itself in the first place. And it's not Rooney's fault he's one of the premiere strikers in the game and sparks fear into every opponent's heart.

who do you cheer for? Brazil?

lol anyways...

They are seeded at number 2. They should be able to piss their way through both. Personally I'm not as confident when it comes to any of the contenders.

I'm supporting the UK on this one tho, all the way.

you've got it in for the limeys dont you? Is that an Arab thing or a French thing or both? Well I can't stand the Gerries. They're crap and if they had been forced to qualify, probably wouldn't have. They will do nothing past the Round of 16.

I think Germany is gonna put up a fight, they're going down swinging.

Not if Germany has Robert Huth as centreback. That guy is a freaking stone and absolute bag of hammers.

My pick for that new young player of the tourney award: Lucas Podolski of Germany. Explosive young striker who sneaks in from all angles. Love his technique.
