At least you got to see Zabiela's setup and how he spins - so i'm glad that we could at least get that arranged for you.

Well I've been up close to see him in action twice before, I was really up there to give him the Dalek tshirt then I returned to my spot in the front center. The vip wasnt a big deal, my friend was just absolutely trashed.. last time we were in Chicago (sander @ crobar) he passed out in the club and got escorted out and passed out under the car, so he's kinda got a history of this stuff :>

edit: Another thing, has anyone ever seen James NOT wearing a Tshirt before? Oh and yeah he now owns a tshirt I wore

OMG you were at Avalon last weekend!!! I totally wanted to go out there last weekend to see PVD, then JZ & Sasha, & Chus/Ceballos on Sun. After last night I don't think I can even comprehend how insane it would've been with JZ & Sasha!!!

My friend has a bunch of pictures but she's resting up for tonight - we'll post them by Monday or so.

Yea, has anyone talked to Bobby yet today? I was hoping he would meet us at Narcisse later.....

Posted by Ang ' ela_ie on Feb-26-2006 00:08:

Bobby was staying with Nick, wasnt he? Let me know if you need his number or anything.

As far as pictures go, Ill process mine sometime early this week and then print a few of the good ones. I hope they turned out. I have some pretty good ones of Yuris the Gogo Dancer. And I think that Lara has the most pictures of me, she was being the camera queen all night. Ill be interested to see some of those.

It was really great to meet all of you! Myra was telling me a few days ago that she thinks we have the best local TA's, and I definitely agree with her. Sorry I was the noob all night, I was battling between standing in the middle of the dancefloor in complete AWE of James and being social with you all. Also, wow, I did NOT get as drunk last night as I thought I would have. And I think thats a good thing, because if I had, 5 of us wouldnt have wound up at Andy's afterwards.

For the show, JAMES, YOU ARE STILL MY #1!!! It was an amazing show - but I didnt expect any less. I maybe recognized about three tracks, and even then I wasnt sure because you are the MASTER of beats and beeps. THANK YOU!!! Have fun in Denver (the COTAs are awesome people). Come back soon!

OMFG it was unbelieveable they were relentless.

sasha came on at 12:30 played for 2 hrs, then JZ played for 2 hrs, then they tagged for 3 hrs. infuckinsane.

sasha opened w/ the same opener he used on the annie nightingale set also played "im allergic to myself" from the same set

sia - numb (paradise soul remix) <------- killed it, confetti came down from the ceiling when the break hit

feelin electro
junkie xl - today (unkle remix)
a remix of tiefschwarz - warning sirens
Egoexpress - Knartz IV
chab - closer to me
2 phat ****s - Ride
Chelonis R. Jones - Le Bateau Ivre
Underworld - JAL to Tokyo
the streets - lets push things forward
mad8 vs. andrea doria - work this pussy
The Dysfunktional Psychadelic Waltons - Payback Time
Lostep - Because we can
depeche mode - precious (sasha's gargantuan remix ableton'd up a lot)
zabs closed with motherfucking Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (R3volves Remix)
sasha closed with orbital - lush 3:1

of course there were tons of samples and accapella's on top of tracks.

most impressive thing tho was jz's ability to alter his style so that it was similar to the way sasha had started off. by that i mean really dark and chugging, a lot more so than what you would normally think of when you think of jz's sets.

it was a night to remember for sure, clovis and i left bobby a voice mail that i believe just went "omfg they are fucking killing it!" + lots of yelling. same thing w/ ang. lol

clicky

Posted by Ang ' ela_ie on Feb-26-2006 00:40:

Damnit Chad when I saw the "clicky" I got excited because I thought it was going to be the effing SET. No more of that, ok??

King

What an awesome night, I couldnt ask for a better time, JZ was incredible, I hadnt heard anything from him in a long time and man the set was amazing and I loved the Star Wars samples(thats about all I could ID! ) He looked to be having a blast and I loved how as he walked in the crowed went nuts. I thought Kyle and Jay did a hell of a job warming up the crowd as well!

As for the TA turnout it was nuts! It seemed like everywhere you turned there was a familer face! Lets see if I can get everyone! Ang,Kristen,Juilet,Tony,Andy,Yuris,Tom,Bobby,Seneca,Garth...great meeting woot, and Chicago29 sorry I cant remember names. Also good meeting Laura. Thanks to Andy and Kristen for everything the afters was probably my favorite part of last night, its pretty hazy but I remember Jimmy spining and of coarse the COAT!

Special thanks to Ang for driving home and Im sorry my drunk ass fell asleep.Class was a bitch but I snuck out early and slept til 5pm.

Wish I could go to Mil-town but I have a test next week, so I guess see everyone at Ferry!

Yes, and THANK YOU! now what did you play??!! enjoy the tshirt

Posted by UWM on Feb-26-2006 02:17:

James you are the fucking man for encoring with Eli. I don't know if you played it because I req'd it on here but either way ... god damn! I tried to thank you for it but security was more interested in escorting me out

That was hands down one of the most fun club nights I've had. Great to see so many TAs out and about Too many names to list but a fucking incredibly fun time.

Andy thanks so much for the late night hospitality. I must say your devotion to professional wrestling is entertaining

Great to finally meet Ang! And thanks for driving us idiots from downtown out to Andy's

Wow and Lostep - Because We Can. That was when the madness really started.

I was just loving life last night. Great music, great people. And lots of 'Tiger fists'

Oh and got to talk to Blake Jarrell for a few minutes, really nice guy.

I can't wait to see the pics, but I'm almost afraid to!

You have five minutes to surrender.

Yes master.

I just feel the need to reiterate how incredible that set was. Un-be-lievable.

Posted by Ang ' ela_ie on Feb-26-2006 07:05:

After reading all of this again, I want to go back. Or be in Denver tonight. Either way, MORE JAMES!!! If he ever booked a show in Cleveland Id die.

Oh, and everyones request for pictures has motivated me to get into the darkroom tomorrow. Ill be able to print some color ones, hopefully. No promises.

Youre welcome! I feel like a total lame-o because I actually WAS sober enough to drive. I must say that one of the best parts of the after party was everyone's reaction to my parallel parking skillz. Plus, it was really great to meet you too. What better way to get to know someone than over a live Zabiela set! (And btw, where was the "Zah-BEE-la" shirt? )

*edit* oh and this is fuckin denver for you, the fucking opener dropped lostep - because we can, 2 tracks before jz got on the decks

Posted by FuroshusNudl on Feb-26-2006 16:14:

My pics I took with my cellphone all turned out fairly crappy, bringing my real camera next time.

Was great meeting all the TA's, although I only remember a few names. Garth is insane, by the way

Posted by meejungee on Feb-26-2006 17:07:

thats probably the most packed ive seen sb since deep dish.

i must say. he was quite impressive despite all the problems he had setting up..it was well worth it. i probably disappeared cuz i was about to leave but got caught up talking with some ppl.

but..that was by far the best TA meetup ever! it was good to see everyone...i must say, nyc meetups were never like this.

so..i guess whos in for satoshi? hehe.

please stop by Spy Bar before Satoshi. I'll put everyone on the guestlist. I'm playing 10 to 1 and then I will head over with all of you to Sound-Bar!

so yeah... this is what I think about Friday night: JZ > us regular DJs

what the FU*K!!! He's an absolute genius and just confirms his spot on my list as #1 technically talented DJ out there. He was just setting up his laptop and efx box while simutaneously looping a beat from Jay Prasad's last track with one hand on the CDJ and then stuttering it, playing with it, juggling it etc. I knew I was in for a good night just after seeing that. It was my first time seeing him perform in Chicago and for a proper set... every other time he was here something came up and I had to miss out. I seen him in Miami @ Nikki Beach last year @ the radio one party but I don't think he had the time or tools to do what he did here on Friday.

I had a phenominal time partying hard and meeting/greeting all the of the MW TAs! We must do it again sometime soon. I was definitely on the ropes Saturday morning while @ work but it was totally worth it.

Pictures are coming soon... please be patient
