Alright I know, I didnt actually realise the context I wroe that statement in. I was just trying to make light of what is a very boring thread that goes around in circles. I dont think a thread full of DJ's is going to get us closer to the answer

agreed. very much going in circles with this one now.

Benny i dont think the politics affects the average clubber much tbh, its a khant in the scene to promoters/dj's etc and makes life difficult but i dont think 80% of ppl in a club would know any of it.

Begic is right, the dj thing is full of bullshit but the average punter wouldnt know that.

You are right on the money in saying its all about the fun tho imo. Trance was fun in 99/00 then tried to get to technical and involved, with 14 billion layers that just make it a heap of shit on the dance floor. I think this is why prog and tech trance have started to pick up the slack, they take things back to basics a bit more.

Look at one love and those 'tard nights. Their whole focus on the way they present themselves is "uber cool" but fun.

what exactly is a 'tard night'?

is it that you consider onelove to be run by retards, or are you saying that its retards that go there?

lol, i mean they look like retards, with some of the outfits and poses etc.

well then clearly we need to define new cool clothes to wear at trance nights, to replace the phat pants and glowsticks. the headband has done wonders for house, we need something nice and trendy yet not too commercial. then, my friends, we will see the trance scene revived a hundred fold!

How about speedo's?

Posted by Nyquist_Theorem on Mar-07-2006 10:39:

its true scotty, you gotta admit there are a few outfits worn by trance fans that could easily be described by the average non-punting australian as retarded, too...

my observation at the Morillo @ Kink on saturday (Kink is apparantly Sydneys "best" club lol) - these trendwhore metrosexual house-heads try sooooooo hard to look different and "individual" they all end up looking exactly the same

Im in sydney, and there are few places where real trance is played, as far as i know anyway. the type of trance i hear at clubs is hard trance, like the stuff alphazone plays. i dont think real trance ever caught on in sydney.

OK cool, well those guys putting on these parties, asking the question as to why isnt "the trance scene in melbourne great" should have a look at what they can improve.... Venue? DJs? Promotion / Marketting? I believe someone already mentioned a roof top party that kicked fucking ass... If there was a great view like the beach etc it probably would have been even better. Sometimes in these "special party" cases... the music is just the icing on the cake, you could play whatever and people would be having a great time.

Therefore if thats the case, maybe punters arent exactly going out to listen to a specific genre... Maybe they are going out for a particular vibe, and that vibe is created by the venue and people...

So to conclude this analytical piece of mumbojumbo - create a cool vibe

As for what it used to be like - RedHeads, Chasers, Viper, Chevron, Dome, Mansion, Warehouse, Qbar, even Heat ffs... used to all play Trance regularly... Those days are gone mangz, but that doesnt necessarily mean its a bad thing... It means you have more "control" over the Trance scene In Melbourne
