Well, this tournament just got that much LESS exciting without Canada or the USA. I'm sorry, but European hockey is boring and full of stick play, clutching and grabbing crap.

I'll tell you right now that Sweden will choke their way out of this one again. I think I'd rather see Finland win out now.

Posted by fastmp3 on Feb-23-2006 00:05:

I know how much it sucks to be knocked out in the 1/4 Finals. I think it sucks that you're pissed off at European hockey, but this is what it's all about. To win, and if you've seen other teams than USA and Canada, then you've seen some really good hockey from time to time.

oooouch ! a bad looser here, just face the facts, USA were doomed before the Olympics started, and Canada well, they sucked threw all games they played. And I wonder how you can say european hockey sucks when all the best playes in the NHL is european's and we fucked up USA & Canada this Olympics with everything, speed, fantasy, power, yeah we rock, you suck

How many gold medals have Sweden won again? How many Canada/World Cups? How many World Juniors?

Ok, just checking. The best players in the NHL are not European. For the most part, they are Canadian. Canadians make up 60% of the NHL. Why don't you take a look at the all time scoring leaders?

And once the Europeans started coming into the NHL, all the clutching and grabbing and defensive hockey started. The high scoring, offense oriented hockey of the Canadian dominated 70s and 80s is but a memory. But whatever...I'm not that bitter. This Canadian team was shit but a large part of that was because the right guys weren't selected. See you in 2010. Go Finns.

LOL...man, this Canada team was crap from the get go. They looked good on paper but just didnt gel. The blame is squarely on them. But when people start bragging about other countries and shit talking Canada, a little perspective is needed. There's such thing as being a sore winner too. Plus the Swedes threw their game because they always lose to Canada

usa gave it a good heave ho, but couldn't do it , losing to the fins ( not the 'phins of miami ... sorry eddo my man ) ..

Neither the USA or Canada had it this time around, for whatever reason, unlike 2002. See what Modano had to say after the game though?

well Sweden havnt won the Olympics in hockey since 94 , and think of this, the canadians have more licensed women players then we got men playing, we only have 9 million citiesens but still we are domination such is soo many sports....and DONT come here and talk about Canada/World Cups, thats just fucked up cup, made by the canadiens, for the canadiens and its played so the canadiens will win...

1 PETER FORSBERG
2 MARKUS NASLUND

but thing is that you guys always think your the best, yeah your teames and players are always good but sometimes you really need to play your best to win

Posted by halexander837 on Feb-23-2006 18:13:

WOW

Canada lost, USA lost, and so did the Swiss.

The US, I was expecting they would lose, but never the Canadiens.

Was the win by Russia an upset?

Posted by InterMilan31 on Feb-23-2006 19:18:

Canadians saying that they are the best hockeyplayers are like white americans saying we are the best baseball players and basketball players.

Its not true anymore be glad in the fact that your sport has taken off so much that countries on different continents are on the same level.

Posted by zoric on Feb-23-2006 20:41:

Exactly.

You're just whining about the Canada and World Cups because you never came close to winning any. Nobody touched Canadian playeres in the 70s and 80s, except the Russians ONCE in 1981.

Two Canadians, one Czech, one Swede and one Russian to be exact on that top 5. Why don't you look at the top 30 or 50 instead and let's see how many Canadians are on there.

And as good as some Europeans are, for example, Dominik Hasek or Forsberg...how many cups have thhet won? One and Two respectively and Hasket had to be planted in an already amazing team in 02 to get his Cup and Forsberg is always hurt. How many has Naslund won? None. Don't get me wrong, these are all great players and I'd take them on the Montreal Canadiens for sure. Also Canadian goalies like Patrik Roy and Martin Brodeur nearly single handedly won 4 and 3 Cups for their teams. How many times has a European been voted as the Conn Smythe winner in the 25 years or so since Europeans started playing in the NHL? How many times the Hart Trophy? Not so many if you care to look it up.
