Tracks 1 & 2: DJ Gosher2023
I love those two tracks. It was my first time listening to track 2 while the first one made for a great opener. My only complaint is that you dropped track 2 at the wrong time even though the beats matched.

Track 3: Evelon
Wow, this is certainly a gem I have not had the pleasure of listening to until now. Great track and beautifully mixed. The way you brought in the track flowed perfectly with the previous track.

Track 4: Belgian Bonzai
This track brings the mix up a notch at just the right time because you hate to listen to a set at one level at the time. That gets pretty boring, but Belgian follows up nicely and increases the energy enough to keep the listenerwelllistening!

Track 5: The Freezzz
Im not a huge fan of Olivers work, but I think this track plays off nicely from the previous track and does not sacrifice the flow at all. The mashup was unnoticeable mainly because I have never listened to the Age of Love track in my whole life so the mashup felt like one piece to me.

Track 6: DJ Roko
When I heard your track come in I almost thought this mix was doomed. For a minute there I thought you were mixing in Castamara by Jonas Steur. That isnt pre 2001 classic! Then after a couple more seconds the true nature of the track was revealed and I felt relieved. Personally the track is ok just not something I would put on repeat.

Track 7: RX
There are hints of pure trance in this track with the acidy bassline and repetitiveness drilling its way into my head. It is because of those characteristics why I dont find pure trance all that great. I wasnt able to enjoy your track as much, but thats more of a matter of taste on my part since Im 50/50 with the whole pure trance genre.

Track 8: JakeC
We now venture into yet another one of Liebs better tracks. For me the best version has to be the Oliver Prime Remix. Unfortunately that remix came out on 2005 and I understand why the Jules Verne mix was chosen. It was the next best thing! Overall great mixing as you increase the energy level up once again and keep the progression flowing perfectly.

Track 9: MoN-SooN
Starting with this track came the point in this mix where the mood took a more uplifting approach. Im glad you stayed away from Robert Miles more obvious work and chose something less heard of. I believe the non-obvious factor in the track selection is what makes this Classics set so great when people take the time to look into the artists rarer productions.

Track 10: Isoterra
Love Shines Through is a little on the cheesy side for me because of the vocals. If there was a dub version of this track then you should have used that one instead. Regardless of what I think of the track you kept the pace going and thats what counts.

Track 11: Plaxx
Ack! Ive never been able to like this track and its countless remixes so Id rather stop here. The transition was excellent and spot on. You made great use of the effects from the previous tune by taking advantage of the silent break leading to a flawless and unnoticeable mix.

Track 12: Stevieboy32808
I chose this track mainly because I wanted to return the direction of this mix back into the glory of the first couple of tracks which I enjoyed highly. For me the mood of the set was waning so I asked myself what track would reinvigorate this set without sacrificing the build and hence the reason for my choice was made

Track 13: Psychotron
A little on the obvious side, but I think I speak for everybody when I say: great track!

Track 14: Clovis86
I should have known better than to think you were going to stay away from anything Sasha oriented, but my guess proved false. You went for it and it turned out pretty good. The track itself is not my cup of tea, but the mixing is great as usual. You took advantage of the outro from Psychotrons track and the result was a long trancey progressive breaks transition which was music to my ears. Overall, nice job on the mix there bro.

Track 15: DJ Metatron
Rarely do I notice when you mix to the next track and I have to say this is no different. Congrats on a flawless and seamless mix. The track itself leaves a person hanging as to whats next only to realize that is the last track. What Im trying to say is that the tune you used would have been more fitting late in the middle of the set and not as the closer/outro tune. Maybe its just a styles issue, but I would have gone for something a little more epic. On the plus side you achieved the sole intent of this Classics set and that was to do just that mix in a classic.

I give this set an 8/10. Also I have to disagree with Isoterra because for me the highlight of this set had to be the first half or more specifically the first 8 tracks and the fact that you guys used some not so obvious tunes. As usual I learned a lot of new stuff from you guys. I also realize there are always pros and cons about doing a set with different djs each track and because of this I cant complain too much. All in all, you guys did great and I hope to mix with you again some other time.

well thanks, least somebody has good hearing when it comes to listening to beatmatching of two song.them beats are not off and never were.

as for the mix of the two tracks together.from what ive read a lot people thought it did'nt come together to well (think it good to get peoples opion on our mixing)..from where i was coming from of mixing them.if you listen carefully as schiller fades into the background of dutchforce there is a second or two of silence of just beats then the hi-hats come which i think is perfectly good as the second mix of the cd,again the first song is is just an intro and thats the way i wanted it to be.

i aint going start picking out the bad points of other parts of the mix,coz at the end day its what we all love doing is mixing up few records and having laugh..leave the moaning to other threads.

i think its very good mix over all and was glad to be apart of for all the wrong reasons

thats just my 50 pence and 2 pic's worth

cheers gosher

dont mind them software programs..they lie aswell at times!!..what happened to the days of just using our ears and enjoying listen to the mistakes been made in the mixes from djs.

its all gone way to digital and in time to the point

Posted by mr2gti on Jul-14-2006 18:26:

I'll take that as a "Oops, Missed a beat, D'OH!".

Get your name down anyway for CD6!!!!

Everything is said already and I do not have much to add. Mix is awesome, isoterra's, metatron's and stevieboy's reviews hit the spot, plaxx made great covers (thank you!) Maybe a cue file would be useful.

Sunscreem tuuuuune. Somehow I can't remember hearing it before
My favourite transitions are: Clovis (creative), metatron (blending). Also isoterra did an excellent follow after my track. Maybe my track is sort of a breakpoint for the mix, but set was growing too fast IMHO. I experimented with Robert Miles and it turned out to be satisfying long transition. Still, probably the most dynamic track from Dreamland

thanks to all participants! cheers

downloading the complete mix now...

lol, sorry guys, i realize that my mix was pretty close to absolute shit, just sort of wanted to get it out the way. this cd wasn't exactly the top of my priorities and i dont use software to mix, it was my second time using ableton, the first being very breif. i know i should have thought about it a little more before i signed up.

im glad that atleast the track i choose really did it for a few of ya's, i myself only heard it very few times and found it on my comp almost outta no where.

next time i will think a little more and maybe take a little more care before i sign up for somethin again. hopefully i will post up a live mix soon. then you can criticise my djin skills.
