I will probably just watch it at home, but I got this by email that could be an option. Probably not as knowledgable as the Nevada's crew will be, but it could still be fun. Get a tan, watch the game, have some drinks, look at hot girls...

GBH Sunday Rooftop Party
Sunday July 9 at Bed's RoofDeck

"Who Loves The Sun?" - so sang the The Velvet Underground's Lou Reed on the song of the same title, which appeared on Velvet Underground's commercially unsucessful fourth album, 'Loaded'.
Now, thirty six years after the recording of this largely disregarded track, GBH finally has a response:
"We do."
Yes, we love the sun and we don't care who knows about it. And if you are going to judge us, than so be it.
On the other hand, you could come and join us at Bed's RoofDeck this Sunday and share our appreciation.
We'll be lounging on the beds, eating brunch, swilling cocktails, dancing to some good house music and soaking up the sun ('til it goes dark, at which point we'll be showing off our tans).
You can watch the Soccer World Cup Final too - which will be playing indoors, in the sixth floor loft. Doors open 1pm.

The RoofDeck @ BED is the best rooftop bar space in the city (in our humble opinion) - and our weekly Sunday rooftop party there was our favorite party last year (see pictures here). The views are great, and this Summer they are installing a retractable roof in case of rain.
Check out the Brunch and Cocktail menu here . Brunch and Cocktails served starting 2pm - and this year we are staying open late. Hosted by: Tom and Alejandro GBH, Jeanette, Ruben & Noel. Bed / Table Reservations call 212-807-7117 or 212-594-4109

For Complimentary Guest List email [email protected] with your name and # of guests. When you arrive at the door, tell the doorperson you are on the GBH guest list.

BED: 530 W. 27 St. bet 10 and 11 aves. 7 Floor roofdeck

I thought about BED as well, but the game will be broadcast indoors not outside on the deck, at least from my interpretation of the email. Also, we have Tivo at home so you don't miss a second!

It will be indoors, but you can go out at the half, plus you're already out instead of switching venues after the game.

Tivo is one of multiple reasons for me to watch at home, though.

Italy has pretty much sucked this year, IMO. After getting out of group play, they had 1 game handed to them by a ref and the next game was against a team that wouldn't have even made it out of half of the other groups. Germany was the first time I've been remotely impressed, and even that game was full of diving. Oh, and the 2nd goal, I wouldn't really count that as too impressive. It was basically 1 on 1 with the goalie because Germany had their defense moved all the way up because they had to score. The first goal was well played, though.

are you fucking kidding me such a n00b *shakes head*

Which part are you shaking your head to, that they had an easy schedule or the diving or that they haven't been impressive this year? I may not have said explicitly in my post, but I've been saying that they deserved the Germany game because they played better. That said, they were laying on the ground as much as they were standing on their feet.

Regarding secheduling, I said when they got out of the group that they were guaranteed at least the 3rd place game and it'd be between them and the winner of Germany-Argentina. I was actually surprised with how much trouble they had with Australia, which is part of why I said they sucked this year. Between that and the US game. The big shock for me this year was Brazil, who never played to potential, even though they were racking up lots of goals. I just figured they were conserving energy for when they needed it. Apparently not.

It's not just Italy. I've thought a lot of teams have sucked this year. I was a big fan of Italy when I was much more into the Cup in '94 when I was still playing. Hopefully Totti or Toni'll blow it a la Baggio this year, but I doubt it.
