'The Ascent of Money'...If only those responsible for the financial mess were more clued up about economic history. http://video.pbs.org/video/1170821435/
'Pedigree Dogs Exposed'...I was completely clueless about this issue. Who would have thought that 'pedigree' dogs would be so disease-riddled and have so many abnormalites? In the UK, it was a real eye-opener, and there was quite a public backlash against dog shows such as Crufts, with independent investigations commissioned and the BBC ending their coverage of the show. This level of reaction and widespread shock & condemnation is a sign of an important documentary http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O0l...player_embedded

| Every day, the world over, large amounts of high-level radioactive waste created by nuclear power plants is placed in interim storage, which is vulnerable to natural disasters, man-made disasters, and societal changes. In Finland, the worlds first permanent repository is being hewn out of solid rock a huge system of underground tunnels that must last the entire period the waste remains hazardous: 100,000 years. Once the repository waste has been deposited and is full, the facility is to be sealed off and never opened again. Or so we hope, but can we ensure that? And how is it possible to warn our descendants of the deadly waste we left behind? How do we prevent them from thinking they have found the pyramids of our time, mystical burial grounds, hidden treasures? Which languages and signs will they understand? And if they understand, will they respect our instructions? While gigantic monster machines dig deeper and deeper into the dark, experts above ground strive to find solutions to this crucially important radioactive waste issue to secure mankind and all species on planet Earth now and in the near and very distant future. |

| The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent of people in an unprecedented way, unleashing unlimited creative opportunities. But does democratized culture mean better art, film, music and literature or is true talent instead flooded and drowned in the vast digital ocean of mass culture? Is it cultural democracy or mediocrity? This is the question addressed by PressPausePlay, a documentary film containing interviews with some of the world's most influential creators of the digital era. |
I've wanted to watch this doc for awhile. Finally caught it on TV last weekend.
The Cove
Watched The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. Was pretty disappointed. I don't think I learnt anything, and I felt like it was trying to achieve a certain level of shock that it never reached.
On the other hand I really enjoyed the docu Helvetica. It definitely changed opened my mind to the way typography and culture relate to one another.
if u love Star Wars u MUST watch this, it's fucking incredible... I cried it's so good lol
Dno if it's been said before, but I thoroughly enjoyed "Bill Cunningham: New York" even as I'm not into fashion that much. Good movie, would recommend.

This looks quite interesting.
