Posted by Floorfiller on Sep-19-2002 23:04:

where do you guys get the money for all of this stuff? i mean i go to school, got a job and pay rent. that just about eats all of it. the rest is usually spent on food, clothes, and my girlfriend. so where is this endless supply of money coming from that you all get this stuff...daddy or what? i mean i've got some equipment that i've collected, but some of these are just ridiculous.

Posted by Gourhellyea on Sep-19-2002 23:28:

hey johnsmith, what symbol is that on your kosheen-catch record cover? it looks very familiar to me but i cant remember and its driving me nuts

Posted by Gourhellyea on Sep-20-2002 00:01:

ah i hate this thread. i worked all summer and bought two new m3ds in quartz but after looking at this thread i shouldve gotten them in black. i freaking suck

well.. i quit smoking pot, that saved me tons of money.
then, i just saved up like crazy, and got my decks when i had enough money.

well.. i don't know what to say. it's THAT symbol. what else can i do but post a picture of it? it looks like those things that you put in the center of those little 78rpm records with big holes in them.

i think it might be the logo of BMG, because that is the label.

you mean you bought em in silver instead of black?

i think they look cooler in silver, especially mine with a gold mixer.. to each his own. you can get covers for them too you know.

save save save. i bought my gear little by little/piece by piece

its only a matter of time before you have a studio full of gear

ohh and lose the girlfriend and you'll find that you'll have a lot more money to spend on gear

Posted by Tony Morello on Sep-20-2002 05:36:

i sacrificed
go without food or something
i didn't go out to the bars and clubs for a while and that saved me a lot

Posted by Freefall on Sep-20-2002 07:51:

cheeky bugger,

where do I keep the spare key.

I'm probably quite a bit older than you guys so have accumulated more stuff over the years. There are more records at my parents house, plus am toying with starting to purchase production equipment.
Also I'm running 4 speakers atm and 2 amps, 1 amp and 2 speakers as a booth set up and then 2 main speakers.

BTW don't be fooled by the Pioneer DJM 600 mixer that a lot of people use, it's got loads of features, but I'm afraid the sound quality is less than satisfactory imho.

Posted by DJ Dowlz on Sep-22-2002 06:52:

Here's my current setup:

2xTechnics SL-1200MK2 players
2xPioneer CDJ-100s players
1xPioneer DJM-600 mixer

There's your problem right there.

Hay Dowlz, wouldn't the proximity of that light tend to warp your records from the heat. Also, have you ever gone under the alias "bear"?

Normally I don't have that light on - it was just so I could get adequate lighting for the photo. And no, I don't use that alias. Why do you ask?

Posted by hey cheggy on Sep-22-2002 12:30:

Oh, I remember some dude from another board called "Bear" who lived in Adelaide and he had the exact same set up as you do.

Posted by Scottaculous on Sep-23-2002 16:06:

I finally scanned a relatively new (3 months) pic of my setup. I've added equipment racks for power conditioning and amplifiers since then along with production equipment. But you see the main DJ equipment there. I keep my records underneath the stand and on shelves behind me.

Posted by DJ Dowlz on Sep-23-2002 16:23:

Nice setup Scottaculous, I like the slipmats too. But I reckon you should have gotten the DJM-600 in black so it would match all of your other equipment

Posted by Scottaculous on Sep-23-2002 16:44:

I didn't know they offered the 600 in black when I bought it. :/

Posted by YuVaL on Sep-23-2002 17:12:

Nice setup dude!!!
is the a cdj1000 on ur top shelve??

Posted by Scottaculous on Sep-23-2002 17:45:

It's the Pioneer CMX-3000. I'm really happy with it although I would be much happier with the CDJ-1000.

Posted by Scorchio on Sep-23-2002 17:49:

Lasy night I worked on two of those babies at a firnd's house.
