world cup and champions league champs (both undeservingly)....fuck me we'll never hear the end of this one

I was supporting Milan before the match but after observing their weak performance and the lucky goal I totally changed my mind.

The better team lost however luck is always a factor and it was very influential in this game. Although Milan took over the midfield and performed better for some parts of the second half, but in the most part Liverpool was the dominating team.

Inazagi is symbol of luck in Football IMO. I liked his second goal though

Congratz to all Milan supporters.

None, couldn't get feed at work so had to watch bbc updates and take calls from home about it.

Glad really, after watching replays I think I would have been wrecking shit if I watched it live.

Milan won - respect to Milan...

HOWEVER - I feel the need to comment on the some points other than the scoreline! The Ref called an incredibly TIGHT game against the reds!!! I mean, Crouchy wasn't even in and every call in the air went against! And does no one have any comments on the injury time? OK - he called 3 minutes when it should have been 5 + - But, with a sub by Milan, and all the Gattuso/Inzaghi BS, he calls the game B4 the 3 is up!?

Rafa has to take some of the blame on squad selection - Zenden should not have started - Kewell really need more time on the pitch. I admit I don't like letting Stevie loose - but he reaked havoc out there in the first half.. The boyz didn't have it in the second - that first goal at the end of the first 45 was heartbreaking and not deserved - it was certainly not a foul.

That said - Milan had it in the cards. I don't want the above to sound like excuses - we lost, and I'll alwayz complain when we lose...

YNWA!!!

I thought it was a solid match even though Liverpool lost

They outplayed Milan but as is often the case against Italian teams (internationals or clubs), they get you on a couple crap goals and put the screws to you defensively.

Liverpool had several great chances but just couldn't finish.

Agreed that the game was called VERY tight against the Reds. The second Inzaghi goal could have been called offsides given some of the other calls vs. Liverpool earlier in the match.

All told, this was way better than the FA Cup final

lol... so milan was lucky yesterday??? possibly... but how about liverpool in the final 2 yrs ago??? lol.... emm hmm
i hate it when italian teams get bashed by ppl who dont know what they're talking about...
open your eyes!!!

they way i see it...milan claimed the trophy that belonged to them in 2005!!! when they were robbed by liverpool's "anti-soccer" display

What? LOL.

Milan fucked up big time in 05.
If you can't win with 3-0 up at half time, you suck.

I celebrated HEAVILY after the 7th Cup victory....

Played like shit, worst Milan team ever, and STILL won it.

Only GREAT clubs do such things...love 'em or hate 'em, this is FACT

Oh and ps. LOOOOOOOOOVE that in the semis there were 3 English and Milan, and turned out the way it did

In the end, RESULTS matter more than how u play

Good topic.

Has anyone else noticed that since the Grobelaar scandal in the early 90s, refereeing has been awful?

It perturbes me a lot that such important matches have such terrible calls made in them. As much as I hate the idea, I think it is imperative to have the electronic eye for calls within the box.

Such a CRAZY topic! I'm 50/50 on the debate (I know it's the easy way out) - but it kind of tarnishes the beauty of the game to use cameras don't you think?!? I admit I'm not up to date on the what the plan is (how the camera's would work i.e. - Do they stop the game to go to the friggin replay?!?!?) - perhaps I choose to remain ignorant...

Of coarse - sketchy refs tarnish the game as well... Hence why I'm 50/50!

Haha - I add NOTHING to the debate!

I feel exactly the same but after incessant heartbreak from shit refs who hate England, I can't help but feel it is the way to go.

Marradonna's hand of god ring any bells?

I think NFL style system should be used. In NFL, you can challenge a ref's call, and the refs review the play through video. If the refs are correct with their call, the challenging team loses a time out.

In football, it could be like if your challenge fails, you lose a substitution or something.

Whether we like it or not, the refs are only human and they do muck up from time to time...

but the downside to that would be that the freeflowing nature of the game would take a hit .. if a player is bought down in the penalty box and the ref waives play on , then challenging the play and having the game stopped would tarnish the essence of football and not to mention the sponsors could have a field day by bombarding us with commercials at that time.

I agree that there is a downside, but considering there are only few plays like this every game I think it's worth the change for better officiating in the game.
