8:49.... AM....
What a night. Hope everyone had a great time. I know I did.
I definitely wanna hear what everyone has to say.. good or bad.
Highlights of my night....
1: Playing an actual BPM Range. I went from 128 - peaking at 137, then back down to 134. Only reason, I knew from opening for Sean the first time, and hearing his tracks, his BPMS would 140+.
2: Trying something new. Having people give me mixed reactions about my track selections and hearing how some said I rocked it.. Including Sean coming out and saying. "YOU FUCKIN ROCK" and meaning it. This alone made my night in entirely.
3:Someone I have looked up to as a Dj, and a Raver.., Ishmael.. coming up to me at the end of my set and saying your last hour rocked. Kinda exactly what I wanted.
4: Being invited back to party at the hotel with a group of friends with Sean Tyas, after his set.
5: Brining my small handful of flyers, having Sean sign each and every one, and tossing them out to the crowd.
6: Brining a total of 350 CD's, and watching them disappear before my eyes. I have a small handful left at the club.
7: Watching Andriux go nuts to the Ferry Corsten Tracks I selected tonight.
8: Having DaveT moderate the Green room.
9: Having wonderful friends and Tranceaddicts who value each others friendship and take care of one another, at every venue.
10: Seeing Tranceaddicts Pump their fists to my music and smiling during my set.
11: Having my set recorded for the first time live, at 1015 FOLSOM.
12: Capturing the vibe of the evening, and being MC and his announcer on Seans portion of the CD "LIVE AS" colaboration with John Askew.
13: Not fucking up the line I had to speak and saying all in one breath..
14: Being at 1015 on a Saturday night and hearing Dirtyhertz rock the shit wee into the morning. (Dirty I apologize for not staying till the end)..
15: Watching the room build up... from a handful of people to a crowd...
16: EVERYONE on my guestlist showed up. You guys are fucking great.
and the final one..
Andrieux being the first to walk in the mainroom as I opened the room.
There's more.. but I wanna hear what you guys have to say too..
Good or bad, let me know. Im not going to take anything negative. This drives me...
More to come.... Ima rest for a bit..
P.S. I drank another couple of those Vitamin Water drinks... I shouldnt of.. Im not sleepy.. crap.
Damn I regret missing this. I would have still been over there partying now in Seans room

OH FUCK YES IT WAS AN AWESOME NIGHT. Its 10:52 am now. I havnt slept since 7am saturday morning.
Thank you Dj Blurr for all the good times. It was awesome to come back stage and hang out with you, Lynn, Rizen and your friends before the night started. That second song you playd was awesome. Im gonna have to grab it from you some time.
That was the first time I ever seen DirtyHertz. Dude, your style and mixing was fucking awesome.
Thank you Sean for the awesome set and keeping me on my feet and hanging out with you at your hotel with a few other TA's. It was a very inspiring set and gives me hope that trance is not dying out or shifting toward crappy white sandy fluffy cloud beach crap trance.
Its always well worth the 3 hour drive for us to come from Fresno to Frisco to see you, Blurr and other guest DJ's spin.
I don't know if I'll ever control the green room again. At least for free! It was a bit of nightmare last night. Actually, it was more than a bit. People just don't listen sometimes! The TA's were cool, it was everyone else. Even Taz (security) was about to go insane because everyone would sit there and argue over how they should be in there.
The sound ordinances Ten15 has to have is going to be the death of the club, BTW. The sound at the beginning of Sean's and Reza's sets was....I don't even know how to describe it. I'd immediately slow down on revamping the place and getting it sound proofed hardcore so the sound can be turned way loud once again. There were parts of the night where if you were in the main crowd, you heard the monitor speakers over the house system.
I thought Blurr did a decent job. The mellow epic stuff in the middle of the set is a bit stagnant for me, and thought he might have gone a little too much in the epic realm overall and not concentrate on the more prog trance side (what I am saying is that I think you should leave the epic stuff for Sean). You didn't go overboard with the epic stuff, though, so it's not a HUGE issue. I thought the last few tracks were perfect, actually, but the come down from was a tad rushed. When the first BPM drop was made, you could totally tell and it sounded a tad odd.
I think Sean's set did have some highlight, especially in the middle of the set, but the last hour didn't really go anywhere. It had a very repetitive feel to the set and a lot of long breakdowns. Overall, I did enjoy his set but just don't think he finished strong. I couldn't really jump around largely because my back and neck are killing me from Friday night. I can't pump my head at all lol.
Infamous part of the night.
I'm using the bathroom in the booth and I just hear someone in the booth start screaming "That's my track!!!!" .... "That my track!!!" ... "He's playing my fucking track!!!"
over and over again...
Needless to say, I met Kyo. He was like a little kid for 5 minutes there, lol. :-p
Sean played Gil La's and Kyo's track during his actual recording, so I'd expect it on this mix CD? :-p
Also, someone called Sean on the phone when he was leaving and waiting for Thomas to get his car and he just went off on how everything was so awesome.
Lastly, for some reason I had the impression that Sean was tall dude. I was wrong.
I finally made it to a TA Dinner, Sean came shortly after i got there and everybody was chilling having a good time. Then there was the car accident right on the corner with lots of yelling, that was great. We got to teh club around 1030
Dude the mainroom filled with the quickness right when doors opened! I dig the mash-ups blurr dropped! esp the Ferry fuckin Corsten one! Sean's set was cool, especially when he played my request of True Forms - Forbidden Colours. very enjoyable! I had a great time hanging out with the TAs!
Kyo is awsome. So is Ultima. Big push for me on the track here folks...
Dave you were not around the first 45 for my set. You arrived right has I dropped my first Trance Track... Well at least I didnt see you until the first couple minutes into my first trance track...
I derno if you would have liked the Mashup of Fire... some did some didnt...
Looks like y2yen did tho.
Ya, Ill say this now again. The house was a little lower so we could record.
Everyone will be happy to know, that the recording went flawlessly.
By the way. Before Sean and I were talking this week, and he wanted to do something a little special for guests coming...
Some of the flyers he was autographing had NUMBERS on them. I announced this also and possibly will be featured on the CD as well... (depends on how my voice sounded)
If you received a Flyer with number, email Sean at [email protected]. Sean says an autographed copy of LIVE AS awaits you.
i definitely noticed how the poor sound quality in the main room affected the crowd. during most of blurr's set, it sounded like the subs in the room were cut off completely. and yes i could hear the monitors from the dance floor standing on the far side of the go-go box. i think because of this there was a lot more in-out traffic in the main room whereas it's usually mostly just in-traffic. after i mentioned this to artimus and he passed the word on, the bass did improve slightly at the end of blurr's set. it was much better by the time tyas got on, but still lacking imo. as long as the recording came out well, that's good, but i felt that with better sound in the club, the crowd response would have been way more enthusiastic to the music. i was also expecting to see go-go gorgeous working the crowd along with the liquid nitrogen tanks hooked up for the night, but sadly all we got was a smoke machine thickening the air, which is too bad because the 1st time tyas was here i told him 1015 is set up for liquid nitro and he gave me a
reaction. i don't remember how long he played for, but i also thought the middle of tyas' set was the highlight. no specifics on why, i just remember being moved by the music more. as a person, sean's not only polite to his fans but very friendly. easily approachable and easy to hold a conversation with. he hung out at the bar for a while and stuck around for dirty's set at least as long as i did. dirtyhertz set was pumping too. i really wanted to stick around to hear dirty's mastered remix of orbital in the main room, but we were all burnt by 4:30. overall in spite of the sound problems and no nitro canons, i had a lot of fun. i was surprised to find some lata's in the house: dj faded, mike lord and the tyas 69 chic
although the night didn't exactly end how disko, andrieux and i had planned...

I had a great time! The night started very nice with Blurr and had a good time warming myself to Sean Tyas but when he started I was dissapointed, the sound was turn very very low and it never really got turn up... I thought to myself maybe because of the live recording they had to have it down? Anyway the sound never came up for Sean Tyas.. it kindda did go up for Dirtyhertz and that was great because wow the man played a very hard trance set.. I loved it kept me going till about 5am.
Anyway one other thing I did not like last night was all the negative vibe in the room there was well over 4 fights.. hopefully no security people got hurt because I saw all sorts of things flying in the air....
Anyway it was also good to finally shake your hand Blurr.. you where just finish eating and making your way back to the booth..
I appreciate all the guestlist spots man..
Anyway all in all Good Times..
So that was faded and lord? Damnit. I was like I knew who they were but couldn't put my finger on them. ALmost had to kick them out of the booth but ended up being part of Sean's posse so they lucked out lol.

Whew!!.. Relieved to see that I'm not the only one who thought Tyas's set was lacking. I dunno--I guess because he tore it up in November I was expecting to be blown away again, but his track selection, and definately the way the sound was tuned for recording, blah. One good thing however, Tyas only lit up 3 to 4 times, whereas in November he had like 20 cigarettes during his set haha
Before that Blurr played two mashups that really had the crowd going. One we all thought was going to be Fire, but then it was a mashup with Sweet Dreams (if I remember correct)--either way, very nice. Also was glad to hear one of my favorites, Headstrong-The Truth (David West), and the White Lies track that I had just heard the day before (love it)
After that Dirty sounded like he was gonna blow the place apart, but I left to get some sleep 2 songs into his set
Other random observations... Charlie seemed to be tipsy when I said hi to him, and for the first time I saw him buying beers lol. And the crashed car in the alley way was gone
it was the first time in 1015 that the "regular FIGHT scene" actually affected me... couple of guys got in a brawl and my girlfriend was in the receiving end of it... to sum it up she's a lil girl and she flew halfway across the dance floor...
PROPS to da bouncers of 1015... i could not even saw who was fighting, a millisecond after my gf got bumped... those guys were out the door!!! my God... this is the best bouncer crew in da nation!!!
anyways, other than that... i had a great time, finally met more TA's, and hung out in the green room for the first time... thanks to all those responsible... Blurr.. i didnt know if u remember which one is me, i high fived u but forgot to tell u im mecca the psy dude... anyways! Blurr did a good opening set, ready up for Tyas kinda thing set...
Tyas.. he's regular i think... imo, he's a better producer than he's a dj!! the tracks were solid trance tracks, pure trance i shall say with a lil more energy than dutchies... anyways, since im all into psy now sometimes i miss those trance takes me back to my younger dayz...
Dinner at Gordon Biersch could not be more perfect! Food was delicious and very filling. I think none of us were able to finish our hamburgers except for Andrieux who finished it up in a few seconds
Since I skipped lunch, I was on a empty stomach and the light weight that I am, the first long island pretty much had me buzzing already haha It was great having new people at dinner including Kyo & his friends, Charlie (who thought it was my bday and brought me Stetson cologne), Christine, Dyloot and Sean Tyas himself! To no ones surprise, Blurr flaked out again
That taxi hit and run during dinner was so many laughs too! crazy randominess
Lexxx covered my food and drinks so I payed for someone else's dinner. karma+++

We all got into 1015 without any problems but again the hip hop room was boring us. Once the main room opened, Andrieux rushed in even pushing security Taz(?) who yelled "CAN YOU WAIT A SECOND!" but Matt was gone already haha
Blurr's set was odd (house/80s and did I hear freestyle too?
) and not to my liking at least the first part and this night. Second part wasn't to bad but I was out of it already and just waiting for Tyas to get on.
Tyas started off a bit slow but picked up quickly especially when he started recording. There was never a dull moment during his set for me. Tyas is just so energetic and such an awesome person. Can't wait to hear "Live as" and will go through my videos some time this week. When is it getting released? Maybe Sean can have a release party at 1015 and w/ kyro this time!
Dirty was good as always!
but I took off early w/ Tyas to chill with him and others at his hotel. Was really cool talking to Tyas and found out we have the similar views on certian DJs and taste in EDM.
Vahid and Andy Slate were doing great upstairs too. I did forget to check back on Asian breaks in the basement though.
DaveT tried his best at handling the booth but just about everyone in the club was part of Tyas entourage haha Dave did good job though as I had a friend tell me "I HATE THAT GUY!", that guy being Dave

I didn't notice any fights and I was walking around most of the time because it was so hot and packed in the DJ booth. Although I did have a drink with me at all times but didn't get shit faced. Hope Mari is ok
Shawn (and Karina) are back from Spain! Shawn told me this hilarious story about Karina during running of the bulls
Hope she posts pictures and maybe even write something up on her myspace.
ok time for lunch!

Taj -
can you explain the situation with the sound system.. I noticed Dave mention something about the sound ordinances..
is there such ordinance set for 1015? I am truly worried if this is true because I love 1015 but when the music is turn on too low.. lower than my house, I would much rather not make the 45 mile drive to the club.. For the most part I go to 1015 for the music not much of a talker..

I liked it!
But my favorite song of the night of your opener is of course Aven-All I Wanna Do (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Couldnt believe that one came out of the bag! Didnt think I was going to hear that track until I saw Ferry again
Good stuff!
I wish I could have stayed longer but had to get back to Sacramento for shit in the morning. Cant wait for DIRTY AND TAJS NASTY HOUSE SETS THIS SUNDAY MORNING!!!
At least the bubbler was delicious

I cant believe that these idiots arent concentrating there pathetic complaints towards all the CRACK/DRUG USE & VIOLENCE that takes place 2 blocks up from the club & in there own neighborhood...F*%KIN JACKASSES!! |
on the cheaper end of the spectrum, 1015 could dress the main room in heavy curtains to absorb the bass and enhance overall acoustics. on the expensive side they can insulate the walls more densely, paint a layer of tar on the walls and attach acoustic panels (not cheap). either way, it's gonna cost money to do it right, but it's entirely possible to restore 1015's heavy, rich sound without the neighbors being aware of what's goin on inside. when rizo and i took a walk around the main room with his spl meter a few months back, the levels could have been wound down to 120db and probably sounded better than it was. i think 120+ is too loud even though most clubs love to teeter in the 125+ range.
