Disc 3 is filled with killer tracks, give it a chance. Maybe put it on the background while you're doing other stuff and sooner or later 'the rhythm IS going to get you!'

not that everybody doesn't know this already but Chymera - Umbrella is wonderful

No, I didn't know that...and yes, I'll check it out

While I like disc one a bit and 2 is probably technically the best, I love disc 3. It really seems like the set where they just had the most fun with the tracks, and most of them are kick ass.

I'm very interested to see how they tied Cocteau Twins, Bryan Ferry, The Cure, Inner City, Aphex Twin, LFO, along with tech house, italo disco, and house, all together.

"This is likely the best compilation to be released so far this year, and certainly the best progressive house compilation of 2008. Not only that, Balance 013 very firmly cements EQ’s credentials in the ceaseless world of big-label compilation competition. SOS creates music that manages the difficult task of capturing the unique essences of each DJ. At the same time, the three combined talents (just like the three discs) join forces to create a unified spectrum of dance music that surpasses anything of its kind in recent memory. Demi, Desyn Masiello and Omid 16B’s work here is absolutely unprecedented!"

I live in a seatown Ustka in Poland. I've travel by the balance 013 many times... at home, in the car, at the beach...everywhere its possible. Desyn and his friends are just 3 non commercial djs with incredible music taste, great heartly eccentricity but definitly "not for all".. so i would like to greet all "not for all" specialist listeners who for example decide to give 3/5 for that album.

In my opinion Balance 013 is musical Babel Tower, piece of art made by three djs(?)...no sorry... by three artists, why? because i cant hear there even a note of nonsence. Nothing is perfect so 4.80/5 from me

Greetings to all SOS and Desyns Fans

I get (and can certainly appreciate) that you like it - but "not a note of nonsense"?

I mean - I realize mixing is not near as important to many other folks as it is to me, but some of the mixing on this compilation was as jarring as a car accident.

Don't be so harsh! Granted there are a few 'shady' transitions (the most notable being 'Dum Dum' into 'Big Fun', which you pointed out before) but it's not 'as jarring as a car accident'.

Granted, my opinion may be biased because I'm such a fanboy!

I think if someone is a professional DJ and releasing something on to the market, it should be as perfect as possible.

Still don't understand all the hype behind this album...

yeah, it's hard to understand the world around us...

Could you propose us better album in this genre ? i mean all the styles of electronic music which you can hear in Balance 013 packed and mixed at one or more cds. Please

After a few weeks of listening i'm completly sure that cd 3 is at the highest level of dais.

It's certainly commendable that they attempted to cover such an extensive scope of music...but it's not necessarily a good thing as far as the end result is concerned.

I would much rather prefer a consistently solid mix that focuses upon perhaps one or two closely related genres than one which hops around all over the map without a strong sense of cohesion (which I felt is what really resulted in the just better-than-average rating I assign to this release).

Picked it up over the Memorial Day weekend and have been listening to it... Loved disk 1 and 3, disk 2 didn't really have much in the way of standout tracks for me... favorite song and the peak of the album is undoubtedly "Shadows Movement".

How is this compared to Balance 008? I absolutely loved the first CD, so I might pick this up as well, if it is as good as you say

i think is 008 is a tad bit more consistent on track-selection. or quoting;

number 008 has been made 3 years ago, Desyn was a bit different person, music and styles was bit different, beside it was project of one guy.

People should understand that balance 013 isn't only ( like balance 008 ) "for the dancefloors". It's more sentimental, team - project which had to show personal taste of music packed in HUGE longplay. It have no sense to compare it to 008, the rest balance mixes or even to most of other djs mixes.

beautifully mixed (on the last cd), and properly edited on the 2nd disc. top tune. i believe 2.01 is actually the Pig & Dan remix of Lullaby, someone once said around here ...

I thought CD was nice at the time, but i can't listen to it now just a few months on, i've found it rather dull. Luna is a mad track, and i think the best one from CD 3 was the aphex one and the last tune.

Ambitious but rubbish.
