As a matter of fact, to tell the truth, there is one key difference between them and Deadmau5, which is that several of us actually had at least some fleeting interest in his developing career.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that you got into law school or that you're going to Ibiza or whatever, but those things have no meaningful impact on our lives, whereas a successful DJ or producer coming out of Toronto is kind of a source of local pride, for some of us anyway. And I know, of course everybody likes to talk about things that excite them, but that isn't the same as announcing it on a forum.

You talk about "our" lives like we are here for the same collective reason working as a society, yet the reality is that there are an infinite number of people here for an infinite number of reasons and they all have to co-exist...

There is an awful lot of stupid nonsense that gets put up on this board for no other reason than bordom.

I am the worst contributor.

But please don't tell me that you really think there is collective "our" who's lives are being impacted by the message board.

um... deadmau5 is pretty far from up and coming at this point.

He's not from Toronto, he's from St. Catherines.

oh SNAP! lol.

what a thread of epic proportions... hahaha, i didnt actively do anything... actually. my management kinda thought it awkward that they'd have the "deadrat6" and myself in the same room... its not like i petitioned it... just following orders.

im over the whole d6 stuff, had a laugh, jokes over, lets move on.

im sure marcus is a swell chap, and his tunes stand on their own quite well, bit of a bummer things have to "leak out" like this from time to time... ah well, we all have our moments.

life goes on for both of us im sure.

Hahahaha, veeeeryyy funny joel.. good try to repair it, but sorry, it aint gonna happen..... way to late.

I will post an official statement tomorrow incl all emails, facts etc in a press message. Im in prague atm and just got home from godskitchen and i just saw this topic.

Cheers

Marcus Schossow

the promoters response
quote:
Hi all!
This has been one hillarious reading but I think that someone supports the promoter also.

For starters Under The Sun saved the Norwegian ravescene, for me and my friends atleast. Their parties are popular and they are doing things that we only can get if we go to Ibiza. I know for a fact that many djs love to play at their parties and the main boss "Mihkku" does a great job keeping it that way.
I know that this party has taken a toll on him since he had a lot of problems in the last week with him having an accident on a job that sent him straight to a hospital for several days and specially about the stress this has caused him.

I spoke with him some hours ago and he said that Under the sun is backing off since they don't want to be involved in a dj dispute.
He refused to give up the reason to me but made it clearly that Under the sun will not speak on behalf of the artists.
One thing he did say on msn that made me curious, translated into english.
"When we booked Schossow we did it because Schossow has an enormous popularity just as Deadmau5. So it was only logical that two of 2007s biggest upcoming djs played together, but we didn't know about Deadrat6 before it was to late."
What did he mean by to late?
Since Under the sun is not giving out any information then only a statement from Schossow or Deadmau5 will clear up things. But then again they could both be telling lies so only Under the sun can tell what's really happened. So I'm affraid that the statement from either artists will be a litte from the truth.

I think that Under the sun made a smart thing, they moved Marcus since most of the people where coming to see Deadmau5. If he had let Marcus play it would have damaged their name here in Norway. They also promised a new date for Marcus so they did everything by the book.

The night was packed and I want to see Deadmau5 again, he was simply amazing and I hope that Under the sun can find a new date for Marcus.

After reading the statement on underthesun.no you can see that they don't want to be involved, but I think that they should has just written the whole story so that every dj out there know that this is something you just don't do!

My first post on trance.nu also, but I think that this was the right moment to register.

Can't wait to see Marcus's statement! I'm still having a hard time believing this whole "management" excuse.

There are many occasions that you get right on my tits but for everyone of those, there is one of these, where you may be sat in my head, typing my thoughts.

Thanks Digi, you said it best.

I wasn't aware that DJing and music production was now considered a sport.

What? LOL There's a big difference! First off, as activate pointed out, djing/producing != sport.

Secondly, I would love to see an athlete refusing to compete because his opponent had made fun of him LOL. Are you kidding?

read the myspace blog and it seems pretty legit to me...

what a shame, he's an embarassment to Toronto

+1

why wouldn't he totally ignore the guy, rip that club a new asshole...not even acknowledging a jealous attention whore is usually the best revenge.

this whole thing sounds like something you'd expect from pre-pubescent girls..

Come on Matt, you must agree that 'respect' (or lack thereof) plays a huge part in this. I don't know Deadmau5, don't know his tracks or his peronality but what I do know is that he was disrepected first (as far as my limited knowledge of the event goes).

As my signature says, 'Don't fuck with a ******'.

Do I think it is childish? Yes. Do I think it is a case of 6-of-one-and-half-a-dozen-of-another? Yes.

When it comes to feeling good about yourself because of someone elses accomplishments it is.

Posted by gummybear on Apr-07-2008 18:08:

I don't know if I consider myself a "fan"..but I personally don't give a shit if he did it..doesn't affect my life in any shape or form....

he didnt' want to play alongside the guy and he did something about it....it's not the end of the world..the party goes on..

the reference was to others feeling pride because someone from their hometown has accomplished something....it is no different then feeling pride when someone wins a medal for canada in the olympics.

Posted by gummybear on Apr-07-2008 18:17:

I feel proud cuz I went to high school with Jully Black and it's nice the school produced someone that is a success in the music industry...I guess i'm not supposed to feel pride cuz she's not a sports figure..

Why would it matter what kind of industry the person makes it in..sports, entertainement....dj'ing...same dif...
